I think he was over used in Madison....rbs have so many carries in them, that number differs per back.  He took a lot of hits in Madtown and it seemed to me that soon after he got to the NFL his legs were shot.   Just my opinion.

There are probably still Badger fans who think Ron Dayne was misused in the NFL.

He was pretty good for his stretch behind a ZBS blocking scheme in Denver and Houston. Jim Fassel thinking he was a true pounder instead of a chest freezer on skids was a real head scratcher, though Tiki Barber got motivated and started carrying the ball higher and tighter when they drafted Dayne.

He never seemed destined for a long NFL career with the mileage already from college but he did carve out seven seasons, which isn't too bad.

Good point.  I thought of John Brockington that way, too.  But at least he did have 3 good years for the Packers   (I know he wasn't a Badger, but he was used a lot in college.)

This.  Wisconsin seems to use their RBs to the point that they get some gaudy numbers in college, and are never quite able to approach that in the pros.  And then the Badger fans complain that the coaches are using them wrong.

Hundley's initial 'reputation' was built largely on his pre-season performance, and based on his rookie year, he looked "promising"
IIRC, he was injured/rehabbing through a large part of TC/PS the next year, but what we were able to see of him indicated it was still steady-as-she-goes.
Last year seemed similar; he practiced and played sparingly rehabbing whatever injury it was, but nothing to make us think the bottom was going to fall out.

They ugly truth was revealed a few weeks later....

Please let Kizer beat out Hundley. Please, please, please!

Got to remember that the thing Foles & Keenum had going for them before last year is all the previous experience they had.  Hundley's first year of any real regular season game time was last year.  Some QBs can come in a light it up right away - but those are the exceptions.  Most get experience before they shine.  I am not saying Hundley will work out - I have no personal contact with him to know how or what he thinks.  We also don't really know what to attribute to the QB or what to attribute to the rest of the offense - we see what happens but don't always know the reason why.  Doesn't stop people from speculating though.  That is what I have observed.

Which makes total sense since Uncle Teddy had a hard time cutting guys in general.  TT is a nice guy.

So he cuts some other guy but keeps his draft pick Kyler Fackrell, who won  exactly 1 one-on-one last year. I’m thinking ego is involved in that one.

It isn't ego but believing in the scouting.

Scouts make projections about players. They have a file on every kid they bring in and they obviously believe Fackrell can develop into a good player. They drafted him after all. Some guys take more time than others. Some never pan out. Some come on later.

They are just giving the guy the chance to be what they think he can be.

Doug Pedersen and Pat Shurmur also adapted the offense to their new QBs also. MM asked Hundley to be Aaron Rodgers and run his offense. The 3 or 4 games Hundley had a gameplan more conducive to his skills he looked fine IMO. MM only ran the ball 24 times a game despite seeing flashes of talent from multiple RBs. Give BH a running game and a timing based WCO with a lot of R/O mixed in (similar to what Carolina does) and I think he could do fine as a backup, keep asking him to be Aaron Rodgers and he will continue to but a terrible QB.

Besides poor pocket awareness, he looked to struggle at reading second and third options.  His arm strength seemed adequate and accuracy somewhat lacking.  His running ability was decent but not at a Cam or Russell level.  This is his walk year and unless Kizer turns out to be a complete bust or gets hurt, there is absolutely no reason he will be around after cuts.  I feel for him, if they cut him now he would have a chance to get a workout elsewhere, but that is not in the Packers interest until Kizer makes it through TC.

Hundley - maybe he can do chewing gum commercials?

I believe the entire front office & coaching staff think Kizer is a better option at QB - otherwise they would've never traded a 1st round DB for him

Oh I'm certain Hundley knows he has to perform amazingly to keep his job.

Going to be fun watching the competition instead of Hundley just doing nothing & keeping his job.
