Thought Jayrone Elliott might come up short given his lackluster camp but that trade would seem to indicate otherwise.

Thanks Roldie!
I would rather have had us trade Jayrone instead. Perhaps he goes on IR and this move is intended to help us get down to 53 with less pain.

"Hawk and Barnett both played well in '09 and Bishop finally got his shot in 2010."
I couldn't disagree more and without agreeing on that, there is not point in discussing if the brass stuck with him too long. From your POV, it's not sticking with them if they are playing well.
One last thing, your argument that the depth wasn't good behind Hawk ignores the fact that we was resigned multiple times. I personally don't think he was ever worth an extension, I assume you disagree because you saw him as playing well, and that part of the reason he was given the extension was because the brass tends to over value their own guys. AKA, loyal to a fault.
Brad Jones is another example. I don't know if Jones gets that contract anywhere else.
You don't agree that Hawk and Barnett played well in 2009? The defense was 7th overall, that doesn't happen if two important positions are playing poorly. I don't think Hawk played well for GB after 2010 and in hindsight I don't think he deserved extensions, but it's not McCarthy's call in the end who gets extended. I'm sure he has input in who he would like to keep, but ultimately the GM puts the roster together and the coach figures out how to make it work. Your original point was that McCarthy stuck with Adams over Janis because he's "loyal to a fault", citing Hawk as the example. It's a ridiculous idea in the first place that a coach would play inferior players for no reason other than loyalty and that's not example of being overly loyal, that's McCarthy sticking with best player available at that position. Sounds strange because Hawk was so bad and at the time it seemed like dropping Hawk in favor of anyone else was a no brainer, until anyone else actually did play and it was just as bad or worse. Your point about Jones not getting that deal anywhere else is correct, but it reinforces that point, the depth behind Hawk was terrible. I don't understand why it seems so unbelievable to some here that Janis just wasn't good enough to be a factor at WR? It wasn't a conspiracy or some arbitrary choice to stick with who played, it wasn't a McCarthy problem it was a Janis problem. That reasoning was/is good enough for every other player at the bottom of the roster...no one questioned why Jarrett Bush got minimal PT his whole career? He might be better now or get better in the future, who knows, but his first two seasons he definitely hadn't earned playing time at WR.
Ted probably just traded the fringe OLB he got an offer for from another team.
Weird cause it's for a 2018 pick...
Thompson gave McCray a $50k signing bonus and there was a $75k workout bonus. So he essentially paid $125k for a 2018 draft pick.
The question I have, who in the 2018 draft is Thompson eyeing with this extra pick?
Not weird because we likely will never see that pick
TJ f**kin Yates? How bad is the state of QB play in the NFL when this guy is mentioned after Romo and Bridgewater go down? And this is not from some fringe beat guy or 50 Drunk Naglersβ’.
Free agent QB TJ Yates (ACL) has been fully cleared, source said. With several teams needing QBs, this is one to watch.

Way to mix metaphors, TT. I didn't know chickens were a building material.
They are if you use enough glue.
I'm not seeing a huge gap between Yates and 10 Yards Teddy.
Agreed. And that's the point. Tough to find 32 QBs worth more than a ham sandwich and then you have teams scrambling for replacements. This is why guys like Manziel and Tebow stuck around as long as they did.
trade Callahan to the queens for... do they got any decent DLinemen?
Uh, no. Don't help out Minnesota by trading Callahan.
Queens are just praying TT puts him on the PS so they can attempt to grab him.

@Boris the board needs to add a mega-like feature, especially for Ted quotes
I hope he has a good security system to keep John Randle out of his 'chick' barn.

Wow, nice trade. Kid has been bringing it, but too many bodies at the position.

Who is he kidding. We all know TT isn't into chicks. Neither is Aaron.
#Packers have claimed #Bucs punter Jacob Schum on waivers, according to his agent, Corey Williams.

#Packers have set up essentially a one-game tryout with former Bucs punter Jacob Schum. Will punt vs. KC Thursday night.

Claimed from TB. Must say that one shocks me.
Interesting sort of move.
What??? a punter???
Released Masthay. That surprises me. Must have held the laces in a couple times.
Must have been tired of Applebees
Aaron Nagler prefers booze to chicks. Or guys.
Schum's from Buffalo, went to UB, attended high school at the same place I student taught.
I approve.
Wow, MM and TT 'rollin' the bones' on Schum*. Ted's stroke must be getting worse.
* I'm pronouncing it as 'chum' until he makes the final 53.
Yea, maybe Janis can punt.
Masthay had a cap number of $1.54M. Replacing him with 2nd year punter Schum should save the Packers close to a million. Maybe that is part of the budget targeted to the re-signing of the upcoming 2017 FA's.
Gotta wonder if the Bridgewater injury affects Packer thinking on the third QB. Maybe at least pay him full league minimum if he makes Practice Squad.
IMHO, no one is going to sign an UDFA who has not been in their camp to be their #2 QB.
I don't think the Bridgewater injury effects Ted's decisions in any way
