Steve Young(edit) , Matt Schaubb and Brett Favre off the top of my head. I think it's rare to trade the back up because if he's good and younger he usually supplants the starter. I think the other thing to consider is that GMs want to do everything to stay employed whether it's a good thing for the franchise's long term interests or not. Flynn becomes part of the 3 year plan sales pitch.

The deal would be a 2nd and then conditional picks for his performance. Denver has a defense that's good enough to win now but they know as well as anyone that Tebow is a dead end. Flynn's an easy sell to a fan base. When Tebow gets smacked around by Pittsburgh next week most fans will accept Flynn with open arms.

Don't count out the impulsive Jets either. Flynn is the perfect fit for what Ryan would like. A reliable guy that will take care of the ball. They do not have much confidence in Sanchez and with good reason. They expected him to step up and develop this year and he was widly inconsistent. I don't expect him to change either.

(Flynn just ran the craps table, shot a Boone and Crockett typical 24 point grey beard Whitetail, landed the World record 1/2 ton Muskie, and laid Paula Creamer all wrapped in one with that exhibition.)

I got most of that...but...

what's a "PaulaCreamer"? Is that considered "white-tail", too?

Jacksonville and MN I think are out, not because of $ but because of ego. Neither will want to admit they blew a very high pick on a mediocre QB. Arizona is out due to the contract they gave Kolb, plus the draft picks/players.

I also think KC is probably out as they have Cassel and Orton to choose between and can take a developmental guy with a new coaching regime that's much "cheaper" and they can fill some holes with those picks.

I also think Buffalo and Tampa are less likely over-react and jump the gun after that injury cluster in Buffalo and the Morris debacle this year has been.

Denver might also play it cheaper and take a developmental guy. The cult of Tebow will buy tickets until a good young prospect is ready and the shiny wears off for even them.

There's Luck and Griffen in the draft, Cleveland can stay put and maybe get Griffen with a possible trade in their back pocket if someone jumps up for him.

There's also a chance the 49ers would be interested if Harbaugh is blowing smoke on Smith but er a 13-3 season it seems Seattle, Miami and Washington would be the most likely suitors unless the Niners toally melt down in the playoffs.

Schaub I might agree with to an extent. However, injuries has cost him quite a few games and this will be the Texans first playoff appearence and he won't be playing. I dont think anyone would have considered Favre as a veteran backup. He had one year in the league and had what like 3 passes. Wolf took Favre based on what he knew of him as a college player not on his paly in Atlanta
My list of teams who I think would be potential trading partners:

Seattle
Cleveland
Denver
Washington

You have to remember that two of those teams will draft a QB.. Griffin III would be a good fit in Denver to backup Timmy for 1 year. Landry Jones is considered to be a potential starter in the NFL. So now your list is down to 2 teams, maybe 3 if KC or Miami are options.

Long story short, I don't think there will be a bidding war, but I think we could get a 2nd and a conditional the following year.
Flynn in Miami or Denver would be dangerous with the talent on D they have there. Shanahan seems to have lost the magic and Washington seems a few years away with a lot of holes. As for Seattle, who really wants to play for Carroll? Cleveland would be a good fit, if nothing else for a chance to possibly work with Holmy. Buffalo is snowier with a poorer coach. Heck, anywhere Flynn goes he will be taking a big step down as far as coaches go.

Confused

Ah yes, love when the old threads get dug up. I still stand by my original statement. I don't think Flynn is going to amount to anything more than an average NFL starting quarterback.

The good news now though is GB is a bigtime winner in this situation.

Considering you have been miles away on the head case Finley and his drops too?

And Braindead, like you being wrong about Seattle and Green Bay's draft picks last year? If the Rams would've beat Seattle on the last day, their picks would've been 18 spots apart.

And no opinion? Obviously learning to read is something you haven't learned yet? I said they should franchise Flynn a long time ago. Try again.
