Tier 2 is basically over, we're looking at tier 3 now.

Several teams in the NFL would love that quartet today!

A downside guy, a system guy, a retired guy and a medical-flagged guy> Seriously?

Micah MFing Hyde!!! Sheesh...

Is anyone else not sad that Finley might be leaving? It's always been something with him from day 1, some kind of unwelcome news...running his mouth, getting hurt, crap on twitter, etc. There was a brief time in his career where his personality was tolerable because it looked like he might have crossed the rubicon (thanks Mike) into elite status and sometimes great players bring baggage, but that quickly faded. I won't complain if he returns to GB, but I'm not going be upset if he doesn't.

I'm just afraid he'll get seriously injured with his fused vertebrae. He's much better than Quarless though. Pack have $24 million in cap space. Sounds like they're gonna extend Jordy, who's making just over $3 million.

Also Packers brass have asked DT Vance Walker to come in for a visit. He had three sacks and 40 tackles for Oakland last year. He's 26 and started just the last two seasons. He put up similar numbers in 2012.

"The Packers have contacted free agent defensive lineman Vance Walker (6-2, 305) for a visit, according to a report on ESPN.com. Walker, 26, played last season for Oakland under a one-year contract worth $2 million, and had three sacks and 40 tackles. He was a seventh-round draft pick by Atlanta in 2009 and played there his first four seasons."

Same thing.

Semantics really, yeah. Most of the middling guys who tested the market and found their original team gave them the equal/better offer have re-signed now and the not so young but still productive guys like Woodley, tuck, etc. is what I've always thought of Tier 2 as. Now it's the over-30 guys, guys who seriously overvalued themsleves and the guys with serious question marks' turns.

And generally the young guys are CJ Wilson like.   I'm guessing TT is looking for the proverbial spackle to fill the holes around draft picks.  It would be nice to see what's floating out their for guys that could step into a more productive rotational role.  I have no read on guys like Mulumba on this team.

I look at Mulumba like So'oto, Van Roten, Ruvell Martin, etc.: roster chum you take a flier on because there's something intriguing about them. Chances are they're just cheap special teams fill-in guys for a year or two but once in a while they'll surprise you and turn out well. Shields was one of those guys as well who they did get lucky with.

I would take Quarless in a heartbeat.  Pettigrew got hands of steel.

I'd take Pettigrew, but point taken about the price difference.

Mulumba played a little right and left OLB this past season.  He spot played as the injuries increased, he has 33 total tackles - 17 of them as assists - while starting 3 games before he himself was injured and did not play the last 2 games.  For an undrafted FA that isn't to bad.  The question is where will it go from here?

Silverstein waxing if the Packers would consider Julius Peppers.

Na ga happen. No way, no how. Peeps will command considerably more than the Packers will want to spend. He's the purfect fit for some place like Tampa, Dallas, Warshington or SF.

I was so wrong about this...and I am happy to be. Hats off to TT for a very nice move.

Wouldn't mind seeing the Packers bring in a veteran Center on a 1 year deal or a low 2 year deal just for some insurance.  Tretter currently is the only Center on the team right now, and he's not played that position competitively that I'm aware of.  I'm sure they'll draft the position, but I'd rather have some experience behind Tretter without having to shuffle other parts of the line.

Chris Spencer, Fernando Velasco and Brian De La Puente might be worth a look if not too pricey.  How 'bout the Bloodline's cousin Kevin?

I would have preferred to have kept EDS but that ship has sailed.  I think the C position will be manned by either Tretter or Lang...Got the draft and more FA coming up too.  GB will be fine.

Would like to see a natural Center on the team in the event Tretter (or Lang) is not the answer.  I would think there's a veteran out there willing to take a 1 year deal.  Drafting the position just means it's another rookie backing up a rookie (Tretter).

Packers addition of Guion makes me feel like they're moving on from Ryan Pickett. Not as big at 6-4, 303, but only 26 years old.

=>> Maybe. If Pickett can be had for Packers friendly deal he could still be back.

The agent also said Guion turned down more money elsewhere to sign with the Packers.

I got the feeling they were moving on from Ryan Pickett when they re-signed Raji and told him they were planning on playing him at NT.

This just in, James Jones and Jermichael Finley are still unsigned.

Edit: Doh!
