He got $13.25 million then. The rest of that junk is Monopoly money designed to make the agent look good. People ooh and ahh like these players are actually going to get those numbers in pro football. The Bronco's haven't "mortgaged their future". They can get rid of Ware and the db next year. See Revis. Unless Shields plays like Deon Sanders in his prime, no tackling and all, he'll never see the $$$ the last 2 years  that contract has him scheduled to make. Re-do it or be cut. Only a productive QB actually gets all the money.

Apparently, you have never heard of dead cap money.

I'm not looking forward to the Revis FA sweepstakes every 12 months for the next 4 years.

I would expect Revis is sending Nnamdi Scrabble a 15% royalty with each 12 month rental contract he signs because if Al Davis doesn't offer Nnamdi $8 million more than he needed to none of this is ever happening.

  He tried.

Yawn!

Denver sees a weakness, a limited window, good moves. Same with the Patriots. TT likes having money hanging around every year getting that 0.3% interest. Yeah, Rodgers is younger then Manning or Brady, but time is wasting.

I look for the Lions to have a turn around even though they got rid of a great coach

Arhur Jones gets $10 million guaranteed at signing

Since NFL contracts aren’t fully guaranteed, the most important numbers for the contracts signed in free agency are the fully guaranteed amounts.

For new Colts defensive end Arthur Jones, signed Tuesday from the Ravens, the amount he’ll certainly earn at the time he applied pen to paper is $10 million.

Per a source with knowledge of the terms, that comes from a $5.5 million signing bonus and a fully-guaranteed 2014 base salary of $4.5 million.

Jones also has $6 million in 2015 base salary guaranteed for injury only.  It becomes fully guaranteed on the fifth day of the 2015 league year.  Which means that, if Jones doesn’t suffer an injury in 2014 so serious that it prevents him from playing in 2015, the Colts can cut him after one season

The five-year deal has a full value of $33 million.  For now, all he knows that he’s getting for certain is $10 million.

I continue to have a lot of reasons to continue to trust in TT. Way more reasons then not.

However, contracts like this and TJ Wards just make me wonder why he wouldn't pursue what could be marquee additions at what seems to me to be little risk. If Jones sucks, he can be gone from the Colts in 1 year. Ward is very similiar.

That is not without issues, cutting the player after one year. The remaining guaranteed money sucks up a bunch of cap space the next year (dead money), this for a guy who might actually be playing against you.

The Raiders cannot catch a break.

Some tidbits: Jermichael got a physical in Seattle and EDS visited Tampa today.

"• Tight end Jermichael Finley visited the Seattle Seahawks on Tuesday night and Wednesday for a physical to determine if the team will offer him a contract, according to a report on ESPN.com. He underwent neck fusion surgery in November.

"• The Tampa Bay Buccaneers confirmed that center Evan Dietrich-Smith visited them Wednesday, but there was no indication whether they would sign him."

Same link as above.

When you look at the numbers some of these free agent WRs are getting I have a feeling that TT is going to try to extend Cobb and Jordy before they ever hit free agency.

If Tate and Decker are worth that kind of jack what are #87 and #18 worth?

The Bears were interested in MD Jennings too.  Would you have been glad if he had stayed in GB?

Exactly. That's where the bulk of that $28M in cap space is going...after Ted treats himself to some new furs of course.

Vince Wilfork wants out of New England

Vince Wilfork AP

As big a deal as the Patriots made last night, they might be on the verge of having a bigger hole.

According to Ian Rapoport of the NFL Network, Wilfork has asked the team for his release, after 10 seasons.

The team approached him once about restructuring his contract, but that didn’t go far. He’s scheduled to make a base salary of $7.5 million this year, and count $11.6 million against the salary cap.

That is a number they don’t want to pay for a 31-year-old coming off an Achilles injury.

How they handle this one will be interesting, because they need that number off the books, but they’d also blow a huge hole (pun absolutely intended) in the middle of their defense by letting him go.

Hmmm......
