Who is the 3rd WR the Pack has with any NFL regular season experience? After Cobbs and Adam, it's four unproven guys: Montgomery, Janis, Abrid, and White.

Jones would be a big security blanked if one of those guys doesn't make the step forward.

It would also be a tremendous help because of those four unproven guys, Janis is the only natural outside WR. Everyone else is a better fit in the slot. Ideally you could keep Cobb in the slot since that's his best position.

Sign him today and move Abrid or White to practice squad.

I could see TT bringing on JJ as a steadying influence on the younger receivers, someone who already knows the offense.  It's reasonable to assume that Adams will continue to grow and that Montgomery will be this year's Adams, but to put much stock in Janis with no regular season experience or Abby with ~1/4 of a one year's training camp under his belt seems like a bad idea IMHO.  Might be a year for 6 receivers with Abby on the PS.

If Jones can't stick with the Giants and Raiders then why is he a good option for GB? He didn't have much speed to lose so if he's lost a step, which is what I would assume, then it's better to develop younger more talented players like Janis and Pinkard. Rolling the dice on young talent is closer to Ted's MO anyway, unless his coaches just don't think Janis, Pink, or Abby can handle any kind of role.
As a non-Wisconsin fan I think Abby's value is as an experienced Slot Receiver and as a PR. Neither are easy positions to learn and neither are natural positions for most players. Guys like Welker, Edelman, Cobb, etc. are not easy to find so if you have a prospect who 1) has the skillset for it and 2) has experience (even college experience) then sometimes it can be worth the gamble. And as we have seen with Janis, not every player is cut out to return punts so if we can throw out an option other than Hyde, Cobb or Monty then it's worth a shot.

IMO he's better than Janis and White, and it's not really close. I want the team to keep the best talent. He's been hurt and that's a knock for sure but White is a jag and Janis is far too inconsistent. Abbrederis runs excellent routes and has great hands, not to mention would step in and immediately be the PR. This would allow the team to not expose Hyde to that anymore.

Abbrederis hasn't exactly earned a roster spot.  He's probably the most skilled and crafty and versatile of the trio of Janis and White and himself but that alone doesn't guarantee a position.

What I worry about is Abby has been injury prone and he's had a number of concussions.   Yes, he's probably one of my faves from UW but he can't seem to stay on the field.
