The angst over bottom of the roster scrubs has been priceless this year.

53= 25 offense + 25 defense + 3 special teams.

The D will have to absorb the cuts when the suspended DL players return. That's when the last DB and/or LB goes.  If they sign JJ, the cut should come from the offense. Not the QBs, not 3 TEs, not the top RBs, not the top 8 OL. So  Miles White or Walker on the OL or maybe a non-Lacy/Starks RB.

Plus JJ isn't going to be very valuable on special teams, so it should be someone who isn't a core special teamer, like both our FBs are. Walker and White fit there. I prefer a straight swap - JJ for White, with Abby on PS unless White takes his place. White has a low ceiling and big guys are harder to find.

Not too happy with bringing JJ back, but viewed as a straight up choice between him and White (at near vet minimum), JJ deserves to win if he is healthy.

Reunion: James Jones is signing with the , source said.

Good move.  TT didn't  match the large contract Jones got with the Raiders (3 yrs $10 million) because he thought he had three WR (Nelson, Cobb, Boykin).  When Jones was cut this summer by Oakland,  TT had no need to sign him because the top three then were Nelson, Cobb and Adams.

But, with Nelson out, I don't think you can be comfortable with your #3 being two guys who have been practice squad material the past year  (Janis, White), or a rookie in Montgomery.  Last year Adams was eased into the #3 role---and that was after he was more of a standout WR in college than Montgomery.  With Jones, Montgomery can be "3A" and work his way into the position.

It was my understanding Raji caught the pass that put GB into SB 45. But that was a while ago.

Underdogs are fun to cheer for so piss off!

Have a cocktail,  maybe join in the chubby chase or something Hank, maybe it will all seem more interesting for you. You seem out of sorts so far. What's up?

Signing Mother****er is a good security blanket.  Janis and White may be possible contributors in the future but you need players who know how to play at Rodgers level, especially when you're a Superb Owl favorite.

I think I need to write a dummies guide on how to properly goad me.

Pinkard will be able to do everything White is capable of next year. If not him Abby. If not him whoever they draft next year. Jones is steady and they know what he can and can't do.  Good pickup.
I am not worried about Montgomery.  The Jones move isn't about him.

It's about Janis and White and their unknown factor.  That's smart business by TT.

Jones should not be expected to have a major impact but he is a security blanket and knows the offense and he's more quality depth.

Actually, that was Sam Shields.

Rolling the dice on young talent is closer to Ted's MO anyway, unless his coaches just don't think Janis, Pink, or Abby can handle any kind of role.

Another good call.

@jasonjwilde: Players Ted cut/let go, brought back: EDS, Matt Flynn, Ahman Green, Johnny Jolly, Craig Nall, Charlie Peprah, Mark Tauscher, James Jones.

Only one (Ahman Green) at an offensives skill/speed position, and that one was just depressing to watch.

Brought back Ryan Grant as well, last three games of 2012 season when Starks got hurt.

I will be curious of the role James Jones has with this offense.  I expect something like 2011: 38 catches on 55 targets for 630 yards and 7 TDs.  If he can contribute that, then it is worth it to bring him back.  I don't expect a 2012 season.

No.  And everyone knows the answer is no, so lets stop pretending like it isn't.

Got any stock tips?
