Problem is much bigger than Drayton and firing him mid-season wouldn't have accomplished anything other than making some fans feel comfortable because the head coach is doing something (regardless of if it'll actually help). This is a problem that has existed for years under numerous head coaches and general managers.  The idea that a change mid-season at ST coordinator was going to make any meaningful difference strikes me as silly.

The idea of throwing your hands up in the air and saying "golly gee I guess we're fucked, might as well enjoy the shit show" strikes me a sillier.

Hasselbeck was a holder as well.

This was before the latest practice rules that really cut down on reps across the board.  If a QB you keep on your game day roster is practicing with ST, it's that much less time he spends with the #2 offense or scout team giving the D reps, or practicing with the 1's in case he has to go in the game.

I'm still waiting for a response before I "own" something.

Pretty sure my point has been clear about how this team on multiple fronts has been exposed in the playoffs.

St. Rodgers you say?  Seems like that's all a handful of you guys can talk about.  You can barely bring yourself to admit the fucking ST accounted for 10 of the 9ers 13 points.  It's like a laser focus on the Rodgers and Rodgers alone.

Rodgers sucked.

Defense collapsed at the most critical time

ST completely fucked this team.

Own it.  Otherwise it's just getting creepy and Freudian.

I’m done with the whole fucking conversation because quite frankly they are all fake ass pieces of shit.

I’m tired of Rodgers shitting the bed in the playoffs and then rambling on about it or projecting or talking about fans enjoying the loss because of his stance on the spike.  WTF indeed.

I’m tired of MLF and his weak ass excuses and β€œI take all the blame” yet doesn’t do a fucking thing ahead of the plane crashing into the side of the mountain.  Be a leader.  Not a coach version of you plucking your eyebrows.

I’m tired of the FO sending out mixed messages on their intentions.  Pick a fucking lane and quit trying to win the PR battle 100% of the time.

Finally, I’m tired of all the media outlets talking shit and speculating and stirring the pot.  It’s exhausting.

Every day I’m losing more and more faith in MLF.  It’s like he’s become fat and happy winning a bunch of meaningless regular season games yet failed to act quickly enough and make the tough decisions that really matter.

β€œI take responsibility” doesn’t mean shit if you actually don’t.   Piss off pretty boy. Less talk more action.

In order to clean out the front office you 1st need to clean out the executive committee.  They are the ones who control the hiring of Murphy and Ballz. Start where the real problem is.  That is what Lombardi did. Told the exec committee he was in complete control. And look what happened.

true, but the franchise was in desperate straights at that point.  not the case now

You got tired 4 times in that post.

Firing Drayton mid-season likely wouldn't have changed anything, but it would've opened some eyes, both coaches and players.
Not firing him ultimately cost the team a playoff victory and pissed away a year's worth of blood, sweat, and tears.
I'll take 'no change' over 'repeated failures' every day of the week, and twice on Sundays.

You need to decide if the midseason firing wouldn't have changed anything or would have changed the outcome of the Niner game.

Can't be both.
