oh - and the raiders have some talent- if some of their dline get cut and chris warren - i would be all over that
I wouldnβt agree that Clay βcanβtβ get to the QB, but he clearly isnβt as effective as he once was. At this point in his career, I think he can be an outstanding MLB. No reason not to put him there and let Gilbert eat snaps at OLB.
If you want to get your best players in together, then move Clay in, add Gilbert full-time, get Burks and Perry healthy. Clay just doesnβt have the strength combined with burst to really ne an elite OLB any more. Send him through the A gap though and he could do some damage.
Oh, dang. Forgot about Martinez. Keep him inside with Clay, Gilbert and Perry outside. I think I could roll with that...
Couple of things about the "Star in the Making" Ulrick John:
-Pretty certain he was not cut by the Packers. He was signed last season off the practice squad of AZ, finished the season with GB and was a UFA after the season.
-He is NOT a starter for the Patriots; he's battling for a backup spot. And he didn't start this past weekend. He played in the first series and beyond because the second stringer got a personal foul for a late hit hit and was benched. The two starters didn't play.
-Just because some guy that's on another team's roster is playing/starting doesn't mean he's any good, even if it's for the mighty Pats. The Pats have had their share of OLine problems over the years. The Vikes are pretty good, and they have a load of sh!t starting on their OLine.
Let's not anoint Ulrick John quite yet as the "one that got away". Wouldn't be surprised if he, or others of his ilk, are available in about 10 days.
He's a scrub just like the others scrubs. But when your 2nd round pick and your scrubs suck so bad to make people pine for Ulrick John, well, time to check the evaluation mirror.

JJ needs to be on the field. I don't care if that means 5 DB's on every snap. The kid can play ball.

As long as Josh Jones is on the team and apparently in the witness protection program, there needs to be a different reference than JJ.
How about JJ(Check) as in one of those verified account check marks. One is the real deal while the other appears to be a pretender. So far.
Gutekunst says there were good individual performances on offensive line Friday in Oakland, but didn't like how the group performed as a whole. Added team is still trying to figure out Kyle Murphy's health status.

I'll save you the time. 2nd or 3rd degree burns.
I suspect his burns go up to 4.
Finally got to see Spriggs vs OAK. His legs look so stiff. He looked like one of those plastic figures on a metal vibrating football game.

True, but he can play ok.

Those guys always end up going the wrong way. That's how Jim Marshall got his start.

Perfect rugby tackle! Bent him in half...

Also like that on the interception, Martinez was right with his guy too. After the pick, Martinez then put his guy on the ground. Nice play all around -- except for Waters.
Cut WTers now.

This begs the question. Are all NFL teams teaching rugby style tackling? That's pretty much what Brice did. All these rules and penalties go away with rugby style tackling. Something Seattle has been doing for a while. It also helps to keep the injury bug away.
I personally would like to see it mandated across the NFL so the games can actually be played and cheap shot artists will be openly recognized and flagged to the bejesus. Vontaze Barr and Zim Wiliams would have to take the Vikings only strategy of "injure better players on better teams" off the table.
Rugby tackling is far safer and just as jarring, if not moreso because the tackler uses more of his body to make the stop. Are there some illegal high hits in rugby? Yes, but they are also penalized and you see fewer since guys abusing the rules. When Brice hits the QB, you see the QB just about snap in half but both players are safe from concussion. (The QB may have gotten whiplash, but...) Briceβs hit should be used as training for all teams.
