Yeah, that's what I was wondering. Reworking the contract for one year? Maybe there's a trade clause in there or something. I seriously wonder if the Packers will get anything out of this contract other than letting him leave without a cap hit.

No, Chongo, what Schefter is reporting is that Rodgers remains under contract in 2021 and 2022, and that the current final year of his contract (2023) is voided.
Meaning
1) Packers have ability to trade Rodgers following this season if they are so inclined;
2) Both sides can work through 2021 and see whatever “new” relationship plus team/player success or failure warrants his staying on through 2022.

The more info that's coming out, for what it's worth and it's probably not worth a lot, it sounds more like Rodgers has the ability to pick the team he wants to be traded to as in he wants to be traded after 2021 regardless. Not sounding like the FO has much say other than to plead with him to stay if Rodgers is so inclined. Man, I really wonder what trade talks would look like knowing Rodgers has the final call?
He plays for the same money in his contract this year but restructures it for more cap room.
They "re-assess" the relationship next year.
If this is truly the case, the FO should be fucking embarrassed. It's a victory in that the Packers get one more season of Rodgers with some more cap room but ultimately it's like doing a fucking face plant but avoiding the railing nut shot.

You forgot that whole not wanting to play for Green Bay part. The contract issue was the resolution not the reason.

From what I'm reading,, he gets very little, but his side will sell it as much better, as will the Packers. The Packers, still own the controls for 2022. If they decide to trade him in 7 months, he has input on where, but he won't be able to force a trade.

I think the embarrassment for the Front Office has already been in full swing most of the off-season. I suppose it could actually get worse, but I think Aaron's already made them look pretty silly, and frankly, I think it's made Aaron himself look like a prima donna of the highest order. Not a good look for anyone this off-season.
The winners of this off-season would be Mike Florio and any other media figure that cashes in the reporting of the Packers' drama. Hell, Florio should give Rodgers 15% of whatever profits his website makes just as a thank you.

The Niners just gave up 3 first-round picks and a third for Trey Lance.
That leaves the Raiders and the Broncos.
Ideally, he'll win a Super Bowl with the Packers this year and then make his 45 million a year when he's 40 on another team.

The Packers control '21 & have majority control for '22, they conceded '23... for now.
Per multiple sources, Rodgers’ contract would be adjusted with no loss of income this year. He didn't give up any money for '21 or '22. Packers can extend him after '21 if they desire. That was always an option they had, and still have.
