Awesome news. After comparing schedules, I was OK that I'd only be "Bear-blocked" twice this season living in Chicago. But those two trips to a bar would easily equal $200, so I can comfortably call this a wash.
Good information here....

The "elite" scammer edgewok created a monster with me.

The annual call will be placed in July or August.

See here for any dumdums that actually pay for the ticket.

Gotta have the RZC, what I watch when Pack not on. Love the To-Go feature, let's my college kid watch the games live in Boston on his computer while I watch at home.

Reduction also makes it easier to justify cost to wife....which is priceless.
^ thats what Im thinkin. theyll be strict on handing out freebies while others pay 300.

We asked for it for free (mild threat to cancel) and got it, but I dont expect that result going fwd.

Interesting is that the Pack could be on National TV 5 of the first 6 weeks.
So I may hold off in ordering it for a few weeks and get a reduced price
It's just like the newspaper.

You can get the newspaper delivered to your house for free or nearly free because they use the subscription numbers when they charge for advertising.

I received an entire year of newspaper delivery to my house including the $2.00 Sunday paper for a yearly grand total of $30. That's just over .50 cents a week.

The same thing applies to Sunday ticket. They charge advertising rates based on subscription numbers. They need you to subscribe that's why they offer low rates to you because they make it up 10 fold on the advertising
I get Red Zone free with Comcast is SW Florida. I also get like 10-12 Packer games on regular TV every year. Plus replays on NFL Network. Watch a few in Bars or at Friends who have the Ticket. I'm still not buying.
You people are why our capitalist society is crumbling.

I pay full price for everything because I'm patriotic.

Why do you all hate America so much?
The Libertarian in me says it's not my fault you're a ****ty negotiator. I'm glad there are dumdums like you out there who give them the margin and thereby me the wiggle room to bargain.

Thanks!

USA!
Iowacheese: What is the elite scammer edgework? (I couldn't get your link to work)

I guess I'm not a very good bull****ter because I've never been able to get much out of DirecTV other than some free HBO type stuff and some very minor discounts. Are you guys serious that you can repeatedly get the full Sunday Ticket package for FREE? If so, I would love to see a transcript of your telephone conversation with them...
official#1, yes, I've had it for years and never paid much at all and have had it for the past four or five for FREE. Last year, including 'on-the-go' for free. I got enough credits that they were actually paying ME to have it. Not sure how it will work out this year. One of the credits last year was for free HD for 24 months ($240), so I probably won't be able to work anything there. I've b een with DTV since like 1998, so they are pretty nice to me. The way I figure, even if I have to pay at some point, I've got enough free equipment and services from them over the years that I'll be ahead of the game for quite some time.

Not sure why we (including myself) think they should cut us a deal. It's not like we go in any supermarket or retail store and truly expect them to cut us a deal other than the advertised specials, but DTV made us do it. They started cutting deals so it'll be pretty tough for them to stop I think

I used this last year on Halloween night. Watched the Chargers and Chiefs play on the laptop outside while I passed out candy. Pretty decent.
The thing about the To-Go package is that games that are blacked out on the ticket are because they are broadcast local are also blacked out on the To-Go package. That really stinks, I don't care about the TV blackouts because you can watch on the local channels, but their doesn't seem to be an easy, legal alternative when watching To-Go. I love being able to watch the game while coaching my son's soccer game and going to my daughter's dance recital, I can give the appearance of a good parent.

The .com version stopped working in the U.S. so now you have to use the .eu version

I complained about this last year because the first time they offered the TO-GO package, I think you were able to watch blacked out games. But last year not.
So I called and they gave me a $5 credit for a year. Still I told them to work on changing this stupid rule.
Moving in a couple weeks. Just scored free Sunday ticket for the 4th consecutive year.

Getting the Genie gig....6 months free encore. 3 months showtime/hbo free 15 bucks off current bill for a year. Bundled phone and internet with them now too. And for all the above will be 70 per month cheaper then I pay now for similar.

Best part is still have 16 months left on my contract and was able to wheel these deals without extending it.

The magic word boys and girls is CANCEL service. And pitting them vs someone...in my case cable/internet/phone provider mediacom.

Another happy subscriber means their ad rates go up & Lite beer pays more for their commercial.

Eye heart Murica

Talked to first dude, tried being low key, best he'd offer me was $50 off of Sunday Ticket.

Told them, nicely that 10+subscriber paying $300 vs Free for new customer doesn't make sense to me, that I shouldn't pay for it, and that without Sunday Ticket I'd move to Comcast.  Boom.  Transferred to a new agent...

Free Sunday Ticket Max

Upgraded receivers to Genie

Upgrade programming to Premier at $86.99 for 12 months (vs $124/month)

Had Direct TV in STL, but lost it with moving to Boston.  Now in an apartment building that doesn't allow dishes.  Comcast is great in a lot of ways and had NFL channel and Red Zone as part of package but no games.

Thought of keeping Directv subscription just to have access to games on the internet, but would have been pricey.  In talking to the Directv rep on the phone learned of another alternative.  If you purchase NFL Madden 2013 special 25th anniversary game through Amazon for $100, get free internet access to all NFL games through Sunday ticket.  Now I'll just connect laptop to HD big screen TV and see all the games this year. Can't stand missing games

It took a lot of wheeling and dealing this year, but I ended up getting the NFL Sunday Ticket Max ($300) for $180.  Additionally, I was offered whole home DVR free for 3 months ($3/month) and $15/month discount off my regular programming for 15 months. So, my discounts came to $234.  I've been with DirecTV for 15 years.  Probably could have done better, but I was satisfied with their offer.

any new success stories.

GBPnut and CAPackfan seemed to get much better deal than Illinikev

My contract ends in a few weeks so Ill call then. I always get success callign on sundays/,mondays when their deals renew. I go straight to asking for a disconnect date because of a competitor. I dont sit around and whine about new subscribers. straight to 'give me a disconnect date' and the last 5 years they back the truck up.

hoping for the same deal....wondering if they keep notes on past customer deals so my luck could run out?

Well I just got off the phone with DirecTV and I think I did pretty well.  I got $30 per month off the Premier Package for 12 months, $50 per month off service fees and premium channels for 6 months, Sunday Ticket Max for $150, and one dead non-dvr receiver upgraded to a Genie.

I will still probably call them back in a week or two and rake them over the coals about the price on the Sunday Ticket Max to see if they will reduce it more with the threat of canceling it, but I think they were more that fair for someone who signed up in December of 1994 when the service launched in this area.  He said because I got Sunday Ticket for free the last two years they would not be able to give it to me for free this year under any circumstances.  So beware they may very well be catching up with you.

Good luck to anyone else trying to save some coin, I didn't have to be a jerk to get all this, just firm in my desire to save money or move to cable.   ( I didn't mention that the last time I checked cable was 3.3 miles from my house and they quoted running cable to my home at $5.21 per foot!)

While I've never had the Ticket, my local sports bar has finally signed up again. They haven't had it for 4 years because the commercial license was out of sight. The owner greeted me at the door all twitchy happy. I'm not sure why because he knows/cares jack about football other than "da Bears" win and his bets come in.

Made the call.

In addition to Free Sunday Ticket, I was debating between upgrading to Genie or getting cash off the bill.  Decided to take cash off the bill.

So I said I can't justify paying that much monthly for our TV.  She said she could do $25 off a month for 12 months.  I said I needed more.  She 'found' an additional $10 off a month.  I said I needed more.  She found $10 more off a month.  Okay, now we are getting somewhere.

Then I just asked her for free Sunday Ticket.  Said no problem.  I wanted Max though.  She couldn't do it.  "C'mon baby, just do this one thing for me."  She laughed and said okay.

So in the end got $540 off my bill for a year and Free Sunday Ticket Max.  I did have to get a one year extension, which is fine for when I call next year it will be up.

Edgewok out!

Nice scam edgewok....If I had it to do over I would not have gotten GENIE.   Now wife can see all skinamax light porn the boys and I DVR.    I had time left on contract when I made the deal....so happy with this caper.   I will continue to make the annual call though.   Magic word - disconnect.....make it happen.

Dirty dirty bastards.   got my DIRECTV emailed to me yesterday.   Had a charge for around 38 bucks on it....one of 6 payments for Sunday ticket.   Called the ratt bastards...oh gee sorry we made a mistake.....but we are unable to honor that freebie Sunday ticket even though we told you we would...computer won't let  us.

Gotta be kidding me.   buttt...we will give it to you for $149.....F U directv...cancel.

Wait sorry...Mr. Loyal subscriber since 2009.   Lets see what we can do for you.   $15 dollars off bill per month for the year and Sunday ticket for the 149.  About 30 profit for the year for me.

Sorry nope...not satisfied lets dance some more.

I have to talk to supervisor...hold....OK we can do 20 per month.....Nope sorry i want $25 off per month for a year and 3 additional months free HBO Showtime Skinmax.

Pause on hold...yes sir we can do that since we messed up.

So will end up paying $150 for Sunday ticket but getting $300 in additional credits on my bill for the year.

The yearly dance got extended and it took me about 20 minutes of transferring and being on hold but not a bad 20 minutes work $150 and 3 additional months of free HBO Show and SKIN
