The Lions currently are currently the #3 seed. They are right in the thick of the Chase Young sweepstakes. A Skins upset at Dall-ass (not entirely umpossible) , and they move up to #2. I really can't see them playing all that hard to drop further from being in the top #3

The Lions put up a good fight in Denver on Sunday. They were leading at the start of the 4th quarter. The Packers better not count on them laying down.

I'm 99% sure the Packers will win, but they need to come in with a mentality of burying the Loins early. Don't give them any hope they will play spoiler. I want to see Rodgers, Jones, Adams, Clark and other key players relaxing on the bench in the 2nd half.

If you stroll into a stadium overconfident against a record bad team thinking all you need to do is suit up, you're going to have a bad time.

They need to get control early, and keep the pedal to the floor until the end of the fourth. No excuses, the bye is ours to lose.

I'd like to see that simply to see the depth behind them getting more reps for a playoff run.  Sounds like M. Adams is a straight up turd at this point.  Let's see if they have any other packages using other players on the roster.

Thanks Ted.

Below is a list of Lions players NOT PLAYING SUNDAY:

Stafford QB, Driskel QB, M. Jones WR, M. Hall WR, Dahl G, Wiggins G,  Hockenson TE, Hand DE, Daniels DT, J. Davis LB, C. Jones LB, and Tavai LB.

Starting RT Wagner and starting DT A. Robinson did not play against Denver on Sunday and may well be out again this Sunday.

All but the bolded players are starters.

Detroit is down to their 3rd string QB (an undrafted free agent Rookie who is unsurprisingly playing poorly), a 3rd string G, and their entire 3-man starting LB crew.

There should be plenty of empty seats and plenty of Green and Gold fans in Ford Field for the game.

Detroit has lost 8 straight and could move up to #2 in the draft with a loss or fall to #6 with a win.

There is no reason for the Pack not to win this game.

@YATittle -- You spelled Lie-Downs Rong.

After what the Pack just did to the Vikings in their place, with everything on the line -- There is exactly LESS than zero excuses.

Go into Lambeau East.....breathe in the "Go PACK GO!" chants & crush these guys early & often. Get up like 28-0 or 35-0 by halftime then insert Tim Boyle.

Jaire has to cover Golladay who is very good. This game is a tune-up for the playoffs then enjoy a week off before the playoffs begin.

No matter what happens, this season sure has been fun.

This.
I was thinking it would be nice to get the guys that typically play all/most snaps some additional rest and lower the risk of injury to any starters. Substitute liberally on the OL, DL, ILB (read: Martinez), and the DB's (as much as possible).

It should be a good game for Boyle to play at least a half, and as Henry noted, get the new guys some reps. Let the scrubs play WR, and get Burks and Gary some meaningful snaps.

Why?  That would mean taking Campbell or Sullivan off the field.  Goodson is at least a plugger in the run.  People think Martinez can't get off blocks, Summers would probably get punted 10 yards downfield.

I'd rather see if Raven Greene will contribute at any point moving forward.  Summers needs to hit the weight room and probably some juice.

edit:  Yes, in the context of seeing what you've got put Capt. Pinball on the field.  He's supposed to have speed.  Maybe he can cover.

My opinion is that before this team starts basking in its glory and fans start talking about taking its foot off the gas, we still need to WIN the next game. Fans are already talking like this is a done deal. It’s not. “One game at a time” got us here. It’s a short week and the team expended a lot of energy to win at the stapler. The All eleven mantra still holds. We almost lost the last time we played the Lions.

Here's the thing. Lions players on the field this Sunday have zero interest in improving the draft position of the team so a rookie can instantly take someones job. Matt Patricia would love nothing more than to win Sunday to possibly save his job. GM's and fans have interest in improving draft position this time of year when all is lost. Not players. Have to fully expect the Lions to pull out every wrinkle trying to win this game.

I agree. Don't discount the personal pride of these players. As long as the coach is playing his best team, They will be playing to salvage something from a lost season. They'd take immense satisfaction bumping the Packers from a #1 to a #3 seed.

I was just thinking in the second half f the game is in hand. Greene has not been activated yet but seems like he’s close

No sense in risking Greene in week #17

Save him for the playoffs.

These are professionals. They will play as well as they can. Just take a look at the Bengals versus the Dolphins. That was a crazy OT game after the dolphins had a four touchdown lead.

Merry Christmas y'all.

Chance to host the NFC Championship Game.   This is a VERY important game!!!

Merry Christmas and Happy New Year y'all.

So here’s the Christmas gift the Lions are giving the Packers:  On offense, no Matthew Stafford at QB (replaced by David Blough) and 2 of their top 3 receivers -- WR Marvin Jones and TE TJ Hockenson – missing (replaced by Chris Lacy and Jesse James).   On defense, DL backups Mike Daniels and D’Shawn Hand missing (replaced by Jamie Meder and John Atkins), no Jarrad Davis at ILB and Christian Jones at OLB (replaced by Jason Cabinda and Steve Longa), and no Quandre Diggs at S after being traded to the Seahawks (replaced by Tavon Wilson).

The Lions still have a formidable DL with DTs A’Shawn Robinson and Damon Harrison and DE Trey Flowers.  And Kerryon Johnson is recently back at RB behind a pretty good OL, with OTs Taylor Decker and Ricky Wagner and C Frank Ragnow.

All that said, we are currently 10 point favorites.  I’ll be happy to win by 1 point, and then root like hell for the Seahawks, who are 3 point underdogs at home, to beat the 49ers and give us the #1 seed.  Merry Christmas guys.  Go Pack!
