Z is the only one I dont care if he gets game action or not ahead of the playoffs.   At this point I don't want him ahead of P or Gary so he would be situational pass rusher anyway.     He doesn't even need to know the play.   Just go get the QB big guy.

Given he's on the reserve/COVID-19 list, I doubt he'll be able to go this weekend since he'll miss practice most of the week--which is a shame because I'd love for him to get some game snaps before the playoffs to get rid of any dust.

Savage was also placed on the reserve/COVID-19 list.

Guys seems to be jumping on and off the Covid list pretty quickly these days. Seems like the vaccinated guys test positive then a few days later they are cleared to play. Wouldn't be surprised to see Alexander back and practicing by Thursday.

The main thing that worries me about the game is the Lion's concrete jungle turf.  Didn't Rodgers get a concussion there once?

Yup, 2010

Missed the game the following week vs New England as well.

Season went to shit after that if I'm remembering clearly.

Disagree.  His ability to play inside on the line is a huge factor.  I pray he comes back sooner rather than later and knocks off the rust.

If there was a good time for the Rona to run a train on this team it’s now…19 days until meaningful football will be played. Get it over with.

Are you Nucking Futts? Not everyone just gets over covid in a week. Remember the hell A.J. Dillon went through last year trying to get over it???

@TomSilverstein:  #Packers coach Matt LaFleur said no players have been added to the COVID-19 list today.

LaFleur said Jaire Alexander is still on the COVID-19 list and won't practice. OT David Bakhtiari and C Josh Myers will take part in individual drills. Za'Darius Smith will not take part in practice today.

Myers comes out of seemingly nowhere to practice?  One can dream of getting both him and Bakhtiari back for the playoffs.  Though you have to wonder if they can both get back up to speed and have the OL re-sync in time for it to be better than the current OL.  If they can keep winning, that could take until NFCC or SB.

Stenovich and MLF will have little problem integrating "new guys" into the OL - they've done it all year with superb results. By my count - GB has started 11 different OL combos this year, not worried about the 12th.

Opposing DL will surely test them in the playoffs, but GB has morphed the offense to make it easier on the youngsters and they can do the same with Bahk and Meyers if needed.

Meyers vs Patrick will be an interesting decision, may come down to who has the better ass crack for Rodgers hands

Replacing one guy on the OL to start the playoffs is one thing.  Bakhtiari is an all pro vet.  Replacing 2 guys on the OL to start the playoffs could be another thing when that second guy is a rookie who missed most of the season.  I think you keep Patrick in there too and Meyers can spell him if needed or work his way back in gradually if Steno thinks he'd be an upgrade.  Doing this vs DET doesn't illicit a blink but vs TB may require more squinting.

I forget what a big dude Bakh is, both look pretty good.

If Bakhtiari and Myers can return, I'd keep Patrick at Center but you have to start Bakhtiari at LT.

Don't forget Turner. They never did IR him. Kelly has been doing a very good job and might be a better run blocker but I'd still like to see Turner out there.

I don't want Meyers starting.   Sorry kid, the playoffs is no time to learn.

Assuming that either Daktari or Myers (or both) can play, I'd hope it would be after game is well in hand. Of course, I'd further hope that would come early so they could play the 2nd half or a large part of it.
For them to start and play 60+ snaps would seem unlikely given their circumstances.

Kelly started out a little shaky vs. speed rushers but has really settled in and vs. some matchups I do think he's played better than Turner. IF Myers were 100% I think playing him at Center & Patrick at RG would get our best available 5 on the field.

I like Kelly over Turner so far

I'm not willing to insert a Rookie over Patrick who has worked well with Rodgers for a large stretch now, even if he is the better physical player.

The only line move I would make is Bahk for Yosh and that is only because it's Bahk.   Yosh has been great, but... it's Bahk.   If he can go vs Detroit and looks decent doing so, he gets the start.

Tough call at center.  Patrick has done an admirable job, but Meyers is bigger and has more upside, although I'd be careful about messing with the chemistry too much.  And Newman has played much better after a rough start and is bigger than Patrick.  I don't know, I'd ask AR for his advice

I agree with you that Kelly compared to Turner is probably a was at this point with Turner being the better run blocker Kelly definitely being the better run blocker.  Bak is a no-brainer.

Offensive starters need to play and get meaningful reps to try to solve the Q1 bugs.  Recall the scared puss-ball that LaFleur employed in the pre-season and how miserable the Saints game was?  No timing and by far the most pathetic game of the year.  Roughly three weeks between games smells way too much like doom for an offense that already plays like shit in the first quarter.  Tell the hippie prima donna that he gets two quarters or 30 points, whichever comes first.  Win the coin toss and take the ball, do not defer.  Get MVS on track and feed Adams.  Get the timing down on the screen passes.  Let the OL gel - especially since Bakhtiari and Myers have missed so much time.

The only player I'd be ok sitting early is Kenny Clark as the defense has been pretty good and he has played so many snaps already this year.  AJ Dillon is going to be leaned on in the cold-weather playoff games too, so I could see giving his reps to Patrick Taylor.

Rust is a thing for OL.  Kelly didn't look good in preseason but has really rounded into form with playing time.  Agree getting Bakh in as a starter is a priority.  Hope he can get some snaps, even if not starting, this week.  Having Myers available as C depth would be awesome.

Silverstein has a piece out today that says MLF should consider not playing Adams, Clark and AR. Also says the defense was largely responsible for the 2011 playoff loss and not rust. My view on that game was the Giants were just the better overall team.

MLF is literally in a can't-win situation.  He can rest some players with the risk of the team coming out flat after a 3-week layoff.... or he can play everybody for a bit at Detroit and risk injury to a starter for a meaningless football game.

Either way, the hindsight is 20/20 bus will be full steam ahead driven by the media and fanbase.

A couple of things .... I still believe that Joe Philibin's son's tragic death was a factor in that 2011 performance. In MLF's presser yesterday he said that when with the Rams 2017 they had their analytics department do a study on teams that "rested / didn't rest" players in last game . Said the results were "overwhelmingly in favor of playing them at least some".

Nope.  I don't think anybody forgets that.  Certainly not at X4.  We're constantly reminded.

Sometimes a team gets hot.  That NYG team was 9-7 in the regular season in 2011 and then again in 2012.  They punched above their weight in the playoffs with the golden calf of rush 4/drop 7 and some voodoo spell on Eli.

I think Adams needs like 25 yards to break Jordy's team record and he wants to get that. Let him play the first drive and that should be enough.
