I think you stick with Niman and Patrick but continue to work the other guys in.  The key is you have Bahk and Myers as backup if something happens in the playoffs.  Leave it to the the coaching staff to decide when the back ups should be replaced.

I like Kelly over Turner so far

I'm not willing to insert a Rookie over Patrick who has worked well with Rodgers for a large stretch now, even if he is the better physical player.

The only line move I would make is Bahk for Yosh and that is only because it's Bahk.   Yosh has been great, but... it's Bahk.   If he can go vs Detroit and looks decent doing so, he gets the start.

Agree with this.

The other thing to consider is how much the 3 interior guys work together versus how often the OTs are on an island other than the TE or RB chip.

Silverstein has a piece out today that says MLF should consider not playing Adams, Clark and AR. Also says the defense was largely responsible for the 2011 playoff loss and not rust. My view on that game was the Giants were just the better overall team.

The Giants were in position to win that game for the same reason they were in position to win in 2007. They had a front four that was able to put pressure on the QB without having to blitz. Just like the 2020 Bucs. Just like the 1996 Packers.

The other big things.

1. As mentioned by others - the death of Philbin's son.

2. Despite being 15-1 (mainly due to a loaded offense), the defense never recovered from Nick Collins' career-ending injury earlier that year.

3. The end of the first half really killed them. We all remember the TD on the 37 yard Hail Mary to end the half, but the Giants were going to go into the half happy to be up 13-10. They handed the ball off on 3rd and 1 from their own 40 with 15 seconds left and the RB got a 23 a yard gain and managed to get out of bounds (the Giants had no timeouts left). That gave them the shot at the Hail Mary.

I guess the big thing is you are a Packer fan is to hope the team doesn't give up a TD at the end of the first half. That seems to be half the battle

I'll always believe that the tragedy of Philbin's son was the overriding factor in that loss.  Giants' front four was great, but the Packers were the better team.

MLF is literally in a can't-win situation.  He can rest some players with the risk of the team coming out flat after a 3-week layoff.... or he can play everybody for a bit at Detroit and risk injury to a starter for a meaningless football game.

Either way, the hindsight is 20/20 bus will be full steam ahead driven by the media and fanbase.

Yeah.. I believe he did the right thing and consulted the veterans and leaders of the team.    If any of them said they needed rest, I'm going to assume that he would let them sit.

McCarthy also called at least one timeout in hopes of getting the ball back and that gave the giants the opportunity for Hail Mary.

@MikeSpofford: #Packers CB Jaire Alexander practicing Friday, working way back from Covid list.
QB Aaron Rodgers practicing for 2nd straight day.
T David Bakhtiari returns after conditioning Thursday.
DL Kingsley Keke (illness), T Billy Turner (Covid) not practicing.

Per Dan Campbell, Lions will start Goff.

Womp. Was hoping for a Boyle vs Love Lions slugfest.

Goff has a bum knee, so we might still get a glimpse of the much-heralded
Tim Boyle Laser Show in the 2nd half.

ProFootballDoc, Dr. David Chao said that based on video of Bakhtiari at practice, he thinks the lineman has a legitimate chance to start in the Packers' first playoff game in the divisional round. ( the video review is key)

Center Josh Myers has also been sidelined for an extended period of time with a left knee injury.  Myers suffered an MCL sprain nearly three months ago and had surgery to repair the injury two months ago.

Green Bay opened his practice window Wednesday, allowing him to return at any point in the next three weeks.

Right tackle Billy Turner has missed the last three games with an MCL sprain in his right knee and is likely to miss Week 18 as well. Chao said Turner also looks to be on track for a return in the divisional round of the playoffs.

@TomSilverstein:  #Packers coach Matt LaFleur said that T David Bakhtiari looked good in practice and they will see how he feels Saturday to see whether to play him. CB Jaire Alexander will not play, he said. He doesn't want to put him out there with just one day of practice.

LaFleur said that WR Randall Cobb will not play because they think two more weeks of rest will do him the most good. He did say that rookie C Josh Myers will play and didn't rule out him returning to the starting lineup when the playoffs start.

Wow on Myers.  Laying in the weeds all this time.  But as we've already been discussing, I'm not sure he needs to unseat Patrick.  Great depth at the least.

I was really hoping Jaire would get some reps in vs DET.

Dammit. I swear I will stop calling Lucas Patrick, Taylor.

I meant the current C sliding to RG

You can call him Lucas Taylor, Taylor Patrick or Taylor Lucas.

I call him "The Prince of Darkness"  Patrick Lucas after Joseph Lucas the founder of Lucas Electric.
