We don't run many (any) trick plays.  However, this idea popped on in the JSO chat--run a pass out of punt formation from Tonyan  to MVS (who is one of the gunners).

Tonyan was a QB for 3 years at Indiana State.  The only thing they would have to change to do it is to move Tonyan from his position as wing in the punt protection formation triangle to the mid guy, so he would have time/space to get the pass off.

Yes, and he kept his team in both games.

In other words you don't see much difference between GB & SF because Russy kept his team in both games?  Or actually I think you were saying you doubt SEA matches up better with SF therefore GB matches up better with SF?

Davante Adams said plan and execution both were inadequate first time #Packers traveled to 49ers in November. This week? "The plan, so far from what I've seen, I really like. I feel like it's a better way to attack this defense, and I'm jacked up for it."

Efficiency. It's important.

I'd still like to see at least one series of no huddle.  Maybe mid 3rd quarter when the San Fran defense is beginning to tire a little or after a turnover where the Packers just had a long drive.   it's about time somebody elses defense is gassed instead of ours.

DA will also be in better post-toe health.  I don't know that he was back in Nov.

He caught the pass on the first play for 15 yards got the taunting pentalty and ...

I wondered what happens without that penalty.

From Wikipedia: Ervin has been compared to established all-purpose players in the NFL like Jamaal Charles and Darren Sproles.

Who are running backs.  If he was out there in week 14 he's not Sproles or Charles.

Wikipedia?

I believe Ty Montgomery proved the RB and WR positions are interchangeable.

Yes, Ty Montgomery and Ervin are Sproles and Charles.  Jesus fuck.

Let's try a little context.  Does anyone really think Ervin, who was picked up in week 14 to help the return game, will be a long term solution as a slot receiver?  Let's add to it.  The suggestion was he was like Sproles and Charles.  Let's try to keep the delusions within the stratosphere at least.

Relax Sally, it was tongue in cheek.  We all know Ty hasn't proved anything other than being a not-so-great draft pick for GB.

Ball would've been spotted where he went out of bounds.  And a Packer first down.

If you're not sure SEA matched up better with SF, to what do you attribute their success vs. them?  Russell ran around vs. GB and SF so that's a draw.

Russell Wilson keeps his team in every game against every opponent. Every. Opponent.

Yeah he's that good.

Found on the Internet: Can the Packers win on Sunday without SF turning the ball over?

I think it's possible but the job gets a lot harder. That Week 12 game against Green Bay was one of only five times this year Jimmy Garoppolo didn't have a turnover. San Francisco hasn't lost this year when it doesn't turn over the ball.

Need to recover fumbles and catch INTs. It could be the difference in the game and it's not too much to ask of pro athletes.

Also, I'm all for offensive efficiency, but a few long drives would be OK. I realize that Jimmy G. isn't RW, but the defense seemed gassed last week at the end of the game.

Excerpt:

It occurred to me while watching the 49ers beat the Minnesota Vikings this past week, as Garoppolo seemed intent on making Vikings linebacker Eric Kendricks his favorite target on the day, that Garoppolo also tends to have a specific style of mistake with the ball. Certain quarterbacks seem to struggle to see linebackers at the intermediate level. Whether it’s failing to recognize them dropping into a zone underneath, not seeing them read the play and come across the formation or simply being locked in too tightly on the coverage behind them and not even registering them as an obstacle that needs to be navigated, some quarterbacks consistently struggle to avoid throwing them the football, and Garoppolo is one of those passers. ...

The 49ers are strong favorites against the Packers, but that margin could evaporate in an instant if Garoppolo continues to misread what's in front of him. The 49ers passer has been an important part of this run towards the Super Bowl, but a tendency to make mistakes with the football could swing the balance at any time. Against the Vikings, those mistakes weren’t enough to overcome the team’s overall superiority, but if they happen again against Green Bay, will the same thing be true?

These games always come down to who makes the least amount of mistakes.

In November, the Packers made mistakes. This time let's hope it's SF making mistakes.

+2 is what we need Green Bay to be. +2 That tilts the Niners perceived advantages.

Worst 14-3 team in the 💯 year history of the NFL. Fraudulent.

I also think the Niners will be stripping at that ball to get a couple takeaways because straight up it's too close to call & I think the Niners are worried.

The Packers have been great at not turning the ball over. They need to be great again.

"It's just baffling to me as to how little you turn the ball over." -- Brett Favre to Aaron Rodgers.

I will NEVER forget Terrell Owens catching that winning TD.  He didn’t catch a goll damn ball all game until THAT ONE CATCH.         Oh yah.......Green Bay is going to win this game.  Packers 35  -  SF 31

There you have it Goldie, you called it: Game winning catch by Marquez Valdes-Scantling with 20 seconds left!  Crying in the post-game interview and everything.

Years from now they'll say, "He didn't catch a goll damn ball all year until THAT ONE CATCH!"

Poetic justice.   Maybe a botched fumble call in our favor right before that.

Actually that final winning catch will be from DIII for the TD.

Ok, here's a question sure to spark some debate:

We win the toss.  Does MLF take the ball or defer?

I do think that getting a lead could be very important for getting SF off their plan and put more pressure on Jimmy.   But, our D is also impressing lately and a 3 and out early (or even a turnover) could really swing ole mo our way.  That also gives the chance for the half time double up etc.

To me it's a tough call and I'm glad I don't have to make it.  Personally I'd be inclined to defer... how about the rest of You People™ errr idots and morans?

This type of exchange is unacceptable. Personal attacks are not going to be tolerated. That goes for everyone on X4.

Or, recover a fumble and have the refs make the right call if GB has possession....
