I don't see Brandon Jackson at all. I've said it before, but I think there are a lot of similarities to Tiki Barber. There wasn't just 1 thing that Tiki was amazing at, but he was good at just about everything. Ball is smart, he doesn't dance, and he doesn't create negative plays. He finishes runs exceptionally well and while I would not classify him as a bruiser, he doesn't shy away from contact. Is he Adrian Peterson? No. Could he be the lead dog on a run first team? I don't think so, but on team built around the pass, he could thrive. I think Ball, Alex Green, and DuJuan Harris on 3rd down would be a very solid RB group.

Improve the OLine and this offense might be even more dangerous!
I'm as starved for NFL info as the next guy with thumbs but I am done reading the blech-er report.

The Pick: CB Johnthan Banks, Mississippi State

The release of Charles Woodson opens a spot in the secondary, and the rookie play of Casey Hayward will likely move him into the starting lineup in 2013. That leaves Green Bay looking for depth and upgrades at cornerback

I read that and you leave out the part where he says the Packers have much better depth than people think because of the injuries and can take the BPA.
Especially when there will be a lot of talent on the board at 26 at positions of need.

The reason I picked Barrett Jones in round 1 was simply KISS Theory. If you look at Thompson's history in round 1, he doesn't really go outside the box too often. He needs a QB of the future, the BPA is a QB so he takes a QB. He desperately needs an OLB, an OLB is the BPA so he takes the OLB. Same for NT, OLB, OT, OT, and OLB. Harrell is the only player that he really bucked conventional wisdom. He won't do that with this pick. Unless they really see EDS as the future at Center, which I doubt, they will pick the best player on the board which will be Barrett Jones.
I think there is value in the combine, but this is good for some perspective on the coverage it receives:

Top Risers and Fallers After 2010 Combine

If you're not in the slideshow mood;
Risers:
Dorin Dickerson, TE
Dennis Pitta, TE
Trent Williams, OT
Russell Okung, OT
Bruce Campbell, OT

Fallers:
Mike Iupati, OG
Aaron Hernandez, TE
Charles Brown, OT
Rob Gronkowski, TE
Anthony Davis, OT

Hit on an arguable 3/5 on their risers, though Williams and Okung were projected Top 10 guys before the combine. A laughable 1/5 on the fallers with three of those now in the discussion for best at his position.
Senior Bowl evaluation
quote:

Datone Jones, DE-UCLA. Stout at 6-4 (1/8) and a rock-solid 280 pounds, has seen time at left and right defensive end. Jones, who posted 19 tackles for loss for the Bruins but "just" 6.5 sacks is used to being moved around, as he saw time at virtually every position along the Bruins' defensive line throughout his career. His combination of quickness and strength results in an explosiveness that has been tough for the North offensive linemen to handle. He was able to simply bull-rush offensive linemen, including Fisher and Wisconsin's Ricky Wagner on multiple occasions. In prior years, Jones' 6-4, 280 pound frame may have earned him the dreaded 'tweener label. With so many clubs looking for "hybrid" defensive linemen capable of playing inside or out, however, he's earning high marks from talent evaluators for his versatility. - Rob Rang, NFLDraftScout.com

I'd think this would fit with how Capers likes to mix and match...

So CMIII was just a ho-hum draft pick huh?

Datone is a man-child at times. When he gives max effort, at least in college, he was unblockable. But that is the question in my mind...how hungry is he? But physically he passes the test. No way in hell he's an OLB in coverage though. He's an Alden Smith type...bring heat off the end...but a little better vs. the run.
Bravo Michael Rodney, bravo.

I wouldn’t call myself a draftnik. I don’t watch the NFL Combine on television. I don’t spend countless hours pouring over video. I don’t live in my parents’ basement. And I don’t get an erection when I hear MIke Mayock’s voice. But I do watch an awful lot of college football on Saturday afternoons, so I’m going to give you my humble opinion on who’s the best running back in the draft after Alabama’s Eddie Lacy.
Some serious derpage in ESPN's latest chat with Helmet Hair...

John (Wisc)

Mel, If Tavon Auston was available to the Packers at 26 would you draft him if your the Packers? He would add a major threat to the offense and would create the best group of slot WR's in the league. Also would add another dimension to the offense.
Mel Kiper (1:09 PM)

I don't think he will be. I don't think he'll be around. He could go as early as 9 to the Jets. He could go 14 to Carolina. 16 to St. Louis. He'll interest some teams in that 9-16 area.

Ummm...and what would they do with Randall Cobb?

Confused
