I didn't have a problem trying the the 55 yarder at that point in the game - would have been a huge confidence boost for him.
I did. Why spot the Giants those yards? Make him feel good on a 40 or 45 yarder and even that proposition is a flip of the coin. Stupid move.
I thought they should have went for it on 4th down there.
I don't know, it was 7-7... GB had the big play to Nelson on their previous possession and had just stopped the Giants with a 3 and out. Was there any indication at that point that the game was going to go how it did?
I thought a punt was in order. They punt that ball and...Super Bowl.
Don't quite understand why you'd pass up a 49 yarder in a dome and go for that kick in those conditions, but MM seemed off his game just like the players were last night.

saw, but I agree.
It was less than 4 inches. You run the QB sneak and get yourself a new set of downs. Try and get a TD or at least move closer for a more makeable FG.
You don't try a low percentage FG and spot the other team an additional 7 yards when you miss it.

Bye-bye Akers? 49ers reportedly work out Cundiff, Kaeding on Tuesday

Unheard of! How bad is it when Billy Cundiff is an improvement? Soft.
Has to be an injury. The guy kicked a 63 yarder in Lambeau.
And if it isn't, he better be on a plane to Green Bay.
Anyone want to go back and change their vote?

How come they are allowed to do that and we aren't?
Aikers just missed a winner for San Fran in OT. Crosby took some baby steps (what about bob) today still not super confident but better.
I believe Akers also missed the GW against the Rams in SF a few weeks ago. He may be finished.
kaeding and cundiff miss clutch kicks regularily also, I am a Crosby backer, but after today...that is hard to do, our kicker will come in the draft next year I think.
Didn't Billy Cundiff get beat out by the immortal Dave Rayner for the Packers kicking job before Crosby was drafted? Yeah that guy is a gem. I'd trust Akers to come out of his slump before I waste time on a 4 game rental like Cundiff.
Isn't there a Canadian kicker that could at least kick a 30 yarder in a crucial situation? Yeah, I know he made the last 2 but I have no faith in him at all when the game's on the line.

Jon Ryan is a punter, not a kicker.
Give Crosby another week. I have a feeling they let him swing away today after he cranked that kickoff out of bounds, and it helped him from then on. Remember, they changed his stride a bit to try to drop kickoffs at the goal line and let our good coverage pin the other team inside the 20. At least in the second half today they let Crosby crank it to the back of the EZ, and I think it might help him discover his stroke. He sure looked happy to be able to kick away, and he sure looked more comfortable on the one kick he did make. Let's see if they leave him alone now and what happens next.
I hope he's out of his funk
Crosby's issue is purely mental. No reason to cut him. Instead, why don't we figure out what he's doing wrong, and fix it? Call in Dr. Phil, Chris Jacke, whoever we need to work with him, and get it fixed.
He's a good kicker, just a bad streak. Keep him.
I don't believe Crosby is out of his funk yet. He is still a liability until he can start making the kicks he should easily make.
Well let's just shoot his dog and be done with it.

Is that you, Michael Vick?
Why not? He came through for me on Tecmo time and time again.quote:

@Packerpedia
Often overlooked during Crosby's slump: Most misses have been on long kicks. He's 14-for-17 on kicks under 50 yards. 1-for-7 on kicks 50+.

Maybe MM should read that, punt more often, and make the other teams go 90+ against our D. This year we have the D to play a field position game, and it would probably result in shorter FGs. No need to add pressure to Crosby or put it on our D by giving the other team a short field.
Sure, Beilema almost gets crucified for punting from the 30 when his kicker is obnoxiously bad....

If he gets a new kicker, just let him have a leg as strong as Crosby.
Lambeau sucks for kickers

Is that his "Wonder Years" IMDB photo?
Anyone know Crosby's salary? He had a slump this year but not sure you give up on him yet unless he's making big bucks for a kicker. Thought I read that they changed his steps before kicking or something like that but maybe others know more about this. If true, maybe like changing your golf swing and it takes you awhile to gain confidence in the new style.
