Came across this one this morning

Which Packer place kicker holds the record for the most consecutive regular season FG's made ?

Jan Stenerud
Chris Jacke
Ryan Longwell
Mason Crosby
Chester Marcol

Consecutive Regular-Season Field Goals Made - 23, Mason Crosby, 2010-'11 (17, Chris Jacke in 1993).

Most Points Scored in First Five Seasons - 649, Mason Crosby, 2007-'11 (625, Chip Lohmiller, Washington Redskins, 1988-'92).

Extra Points Made (Season) - 68, Mason Crosby.

Longest Field Goal - 58 yards, Mason Crosby at Minnesota Vikings, Oct. 23, 2011 (56, Mason Crosby at Philadelphia in 2010, at Atlanta in
Crosby is a frustrating player. It really looked like he finally put it all together in 2011, which followed three years of sub-par kicking after a promising rookie year. He's probably going to win the job in training camp, but if he struggles again in 2013 after winning the job, he doesn't deserve an invite to training camp in 2014.

Considering the magnitude of the shanks that's a weak argument. Add in that god awful shanks at totally makeable ranges. He has the physical tools in spades, he just went full headcase last year.

Yep. An NFL kicker should do better than 63% kicking at the North Pole. Crosby was awful last season. No excuses.

He has 1 job and 1 job only. Kick the ball accurately.

I don't believe he had one miss that was simply short. All of them were long enough afaik.
It's not just about the distance though, he has to kick it straighter also as the angle of the kick becomes more pronounced the longer it travels as well as wind has more of a chance to have an effect. Again, he wasn't that good, and he still should have made a couple of the ones he missed, but if he was truly abysmal I think they would have replaced him mid-season.

Maybe the OCD Hobbit will strap on his garters, breathe through his eyelids and take the job from Crosby.
Crosby was consistently bad last year at all distances beyond 30 yards.

He was 28th in the league in FG% from 30-39 yards

25th in the league in FG% from 40-49 yards

32nd in the league over 50.

Perhaps the most stunning was that he made 54% last year indoors. Granted, he was 1/5 indoors above 50 which accounted for almost half his attempts, but still it's indoors.

Overall, he made 53% of his FGs on the road and 75% at Lambeau. It wasn't kicking at home that was a problem last year.

I'm not sure of the numbers, but it seems to me Crosby missed some field goals at crucial times in some of the games last year. He definitely was a head case.

I don't know much about Tavecchio, but I did read he missed some crucial kicks in College.

The Packers need a guy that can focus when the pressure is at it's highest point.

Crucial kicks is a subjective stance.

In 2012 he was 8 of 11 in the 4th quarter. No attempts in the 4th quarter when within 7 points.

In the Packers last 7 games (2 of them playoff games) Crosby was 11 of 15 and a perfect 6 of 6 in their last 2 reg season games and 2 playoff games.

His issues were early to mid-season and he seemed to settle down later in the season.

For all the angst over the coaching staff not knowing when to start a backup, when to bench a starter, when to cut guys that aren't working out, etc...something should be said for them sticking with Crosby.  Everybody wanted him gone, and for good reason.  But he turned it around and the team has benefited from his return to kicking at a high level.  Pretty damn impressive to be as solid as he was on sunday.

Ummmm.....according to the poll on the first page, 76% of the voters wanted the Packers to KEEP Crosby.  Of course, the numbers wouldn't be so lopsided if voters wee required to furnish IDs before voting.
