Mason Crosby - Keep or Cut?

He's been pretty solid since that woeful season.

MM made it emphatically known he wanted Crosby back today on the Mike McCarthy show. 

 

With how close this league is, a solid FG kicker can mean the difference between 8 wins & 12 wins.

Crosby didn't miss an extra point this year. I think he's the only kicker to do so.

That play alone is worth resigning him. He should be and probably is their top priority.

Keep him.  He's become very reliable.  Hopefully at a reasonable price too.

Yeah. Saw way too much crappy kicking this year to mess with that. Unfortunately, Crosby's agent surely noticed as well.

By all accounts he wants to stay for several reasons. He could even give a bit of a hometown discount for those reasons. And I'm pretty sure TT will offer a fair contract. If push comes to shove TT could use the Franchise tag if it comes to that, which for a Kicker is not that expensive.

Slocum being gone and Crosby possibly having his best season yet is no coincidence. JMHO.
However, the last time his contract was up, he was forced to take a pay cut, and his performance during that preceding year was a big factor in that. By all means he needs to be re-signed, by all rights it should be at a modest increase in salary. Perhaps back to the level of his last contract...

Timmy, that's not true about the pay cut, or only partially true. After the bad year they adjusted his base pay downward, but he restored the total by meeting incentives, and in recent years he's been back to the higher base pay.

How much will Rick toss at Mason to kick off brand new Minnesota indoor carpet? I'm going with lots. 

Might want to get this done sooner rather than later.

Hate to think about the what the last 8 years of FG attempts looks like if MM had done what fans wanted and cut Mason in 2012.

To be fair, Crosby working until 11 am would give him time to drive to Green Bay to practice afternoon kicking. Just saying.
