There, that's my "point" for continuing the grudge.

Serenity Now!

TOG will pay to the football gods for his behavior.  In the meantime, he did break the hearts of all Viking fans in the Championship game vs NO, and for that I am eternally grateful.

There are some Viking losses that are almost as memorable as Packer Wins.   The missed field goal by Anderson vs Atlanta, and TOG's melt-down vs the Saints.   When I see highlights of these plays - I smile.  Thanks Bert.  You gave them what they deserved, and we got the last laugh.

IF they do it....do it during the last (4th) Exhibition Game...a home game that no one likes to attend...no fanfare, no build up.

But I agree with the other posters.  I would rather an unofficial retirement, draft Aberderius (sp)...and let him wear it....and then start that last exhibition game.

BTW....didn't it take Lambeau to die before they named the stadium after him?

just sayin'

Murphy: Prep playoff run kept Favre from Packers reunion

“We do have ongoing communications with him and I think relations are good,” said Murphy, who has said the team would like to retire Favre’s No. 4 jersey before what likely will be his Pro Football Hall of Fame induction in 2016.

Unless TOG does some PR work I can not see any retirement ceremony at Lambeau going off well. I was think about an exhibition game too for the retirement ceremony, but  I think that would not work either. How about moving a Packer game to London and doing it there?

To be as political as possible, I guess Murphy is playing the role of ass-kisser.

Apparently, he's willing to accept any and all criticism related to this retirement ceremony, placate Bert, and work out the logistics. All under the guise of doing what's "best for the team/city/fans", although I suspect his real motivation lies elsewhere.

Talkin' about this on Milwaukee local sports talk radio this afternoon. Two former Packers, Leroy Butler and Gary Ellerson, said Favre is the one who who's dragging his feet about setting up a date for the ceremony.

So he's hemming and hawing, eh?  Where have we seen that act before if that's true?

Set a date, tell him when it is and to show up, and if he dilly dallies, tell him to get ****ed.

MM can still sell idiots all the 'Retired Number 4' crappola, make ass-tons of money and move on.

It's like dealing with a freaking child.

If they are going to retire Berts number then why not retire the numbers for all of the Packer players in the NFL Hall of Fame?

I don't see where retiring his number is going to create "retired memorabilia"  Does this type of merchandise exist for any other player or do you think they plan to create a new group of products for an entire new market?

me thinks bert has a personal grudge/problem with TT and that's the biggest hangup.  if TT retired tomorrow bus cook would be on the phone to 1265 the next day.

Nicely played Hungry5

If that's the case I hope TT stays on as GM until he's in the grave

Precisely.  Which makes it even more maddening that Murphy doesn't delay this for years.  He should realize the power play that is going on with BF and back the guy (Ted) that got this organization its last Lombardi trophy.  Effin bull**** if you ask me.

I guess it's also possible, since we know bert likes to read what people write about him, that he can read the tea leaves and understands that it won't be as welcome and rosy as Murphy likes to portray it.  who wants to get their number retired and NOT get a guaranteed hero's welcome with it?

And Mark Murphy is the step-dad that is trying and trying to get his step-son to like him.

Last post.

It be nice to have a guy like sitton walk into Murphy's office and politely tell him this situation is going to be a distraction (because it will be) to the team's goal of winning next year's Super Bowl.

I'm not a Favre apologist (far from it, actually), but the worst this number retirement ceremony would do is distract them for one home game (and it may do nothing at all). It's not like he's going to be the center of attention for all 16. They're going to have to do it sooner or later. Unless they put it off for another 10 years, Rodgers, McCarthy and Thompson will all still be around when it happens.

Favre's Packers HOF exhibit opens today. Not an accident that the emergency exit is close.
