The Falcons defense obviously did Ryan no favors but his 2 turnovers were critical.
Dirty Birds need to fill a lot of holes on defense. Maybe all those draft picks for Jones really weren't worth it after all?
Up by 3 driving in 49er territory, Ryan fumbles snap, back breaker.
quote:So 4 point lead less then 10 seconds any consideration for having the punter run around and take the saftey?
I'd have liked that, I had Atlanta +4.
I didn't think about it, but it's a good idea. I recall the Redskins doing that in the playoffs the year they beat the Bears when Doug Williams was the QB.
Still don't buy San Fran's D, good solid sure but this immovable force hardly. Again turnovers by the Pack and Falcons turn the game.
49ers will win the SB
Ryan played well today, but the two late turnovers and the inexplicable play calling inside the red zone on the last drive were killers.
I could see that final drive fail coming from my couch.
quote:I'm so happy for Joe, you can tell he really is happy that the 9ners have won. Just gushing over the comeback.
Yep, he was rooting for no catch on that long pass and then was so excited when there were no flags on the pass to Roddy White.
Ryan belongs on the vikings....and the white haired dumdum should go with him as coach.
Whatta choker crew.
Next year we should trade our entire draft for a Julieo Jones type tallant

No, they weren't then, and they're still not now.
In spite of some people's quickness to jump on his nuts for a big 1st quarter performance, the limitations imposed by that trade are still costing them.

Ryan played great in the first half but he'll be remembered for the 2 turnovers in the 2nd half, which is likely the game
The football pundits will still refer to him as Matty Ice, which is why I'm glad they lost. I absolutely hate that nickname.
BTW, I wanted the 49ers to lose too because I hate Harbaugh. It seems I'm more likely to cheer against a team than for it.
Harbaugh: I want cake NOW!

Packers did it the year they held Barry Sanders to -1 yards rushing at Lambeau.

Harbaugh's reaction was the kind of textbook temper tantrum you see from little kids, just the way his body collapses and he gets jelly legged. Embarrassing to see a COACH act like that
I want cake.... I want it now.
* HOMER ALERT * Seriously nobody in the NFC, heck the NFL, scares me. The Packers are the only team that stops the Packers.
Get healthy, continue to develop the young guys, get a break or two and they'll be there next year.

Disagree. 49ers were clearly the better team this season. Maybe if the Packers don't have so many injuries, it's a different story.
Anyone else gonna root for New England just to avoid a Harbaugh/Harbaugh Super Bowl? Not to mention all the Ray Lewis BS that will be spewed if Baltimore wins.
I would agree if we're talking about 29 of the other 31 teams. The improvements needed to be made this offseason should be with regard to beating SF and NYG because no matter how the season finished or how SF looked today, they are currently nightmare matchups for us.
Sorry, but I would rather see the Harcoughs in the bowl than seeing NE win another. Although NE probably has the best shot to beat SF... My head hurts.

I hate New England more than anything else, so no I'm afraid not.
Ideal scenario, CK has has a poor game then gets pulled for Alex Smith, who heroically leads a last minute drive comebak. The ensuing offseason quarterback controversy will then cause Harbaugh to blow his blood vessels therefore depressing the stock of heart medicine companies. Everybody wins.
Four out of the last five years, the Falcons lose in the playoffs the the NFC Super Bowl rep. In any of those years, was Atlanta supposed to win the game they lost???

Make that delusional homer alert. Nobody with any football knowledge (even homers) think GB has a championship level defense at this time even with everyone healthy. Old man Capers can't do much when Thomposn hands him a crap sandwich roster of low draft picks. Unless many D changes are made, enjoy being this decade's version of the 80's SD Chargers.
I dunno DH13, looking at last week and versus the Giants last year I still think it is packers mistakes that doomed them moreso than what 9ners/Giants did. As Uncle Si says we'll just disagree to disagree.
No effin way I want to see those two douchebags against each other. As much as I would hate to see Boston fans have any more things to thump their chests about...
GB was beat down in all 3 games this year so yeah. We disagree.

Me mee.
Fricken Falcons, I don't care whose in from the AFC just so they beat the niners.
Matt Ryan is just pathetic. His receivers weren't going to be stopped in that game and the 49ers barely touched him all day long, and he basically lost the game himself.
Watching this game really makes me realize how weak our oline is.

Except we got a Super Bowl win.

I've been thinking about that phrase championshiop level D. Not sure what that means....San Fran's D again is solid but I don't thinkg anyone is going to say its a top 10 all timer. And if BearBite thinks that Chicago's is far and away better then the Packer that's some delusional thinking there.

He worked so hard to erase the memories of that season
San Fran and Baltimore play 10 times, San Fran wins 8 or 9. I just hope this is the 10th of those 10 because I really don't want to see San Fran win.
The most dominant unit that any team in the NFL has this year is that 49ers offensive line. Baltimore does have a pretty good front 7, but I think they'd need Ray Lewis from 10 years ago to really have a good shot at dealing with that O-Line.
They're just going to have to keep it close and get a couple of breaks instead of giving San Fran the breaks which both Green Bay and Atlanta did.
