It was nice to see Gunter get some work. I've been wondering why he hasn't seen the field more. He looked like a diamond in the rough in training camp and preseason. Certainly seemed like a better option than Goodson on defense.
Gunter needs some shots....
Calais Campbell destroyed us last time. Even Sitton had problems with him. Campbell is the type of player you'll never really shut down; you just have to find ways to take him out of a play. It'll be up to Sitton, Linsley and Lang to take care of him. The game will basically come down to how well the O-line protects 12.
They should probably put a DB on David Johnson; he'll torch Ryan. Again.
Dom made Arians his bitch in SB XLV. Hope the defense continues to step up.
Packers receiver Davante Adams is unlikely to play Saturday against the Cardinals, according to a source. The... https://t.co/Zsg7xPYxKq

it's the playoffs! rub some dirt on it and play until you can't. there's no tomorrow.
Don't be surprised if the #Packers promote Ed Williams from the practice squad. He stood out in training camp.

Would they move Adams to IR or Backman to PS? Since they can practice/prepare Williams in the offense all the way up to just a few hours before the game before they'd have to make move, we probably won't hear before Sat afternoon.

Uh uh.....
It is time to unleash the JANIS!
I also think Quarless is going to have a couple chances on Saturday
"Operation Possum" fully engaged and ready to fire....completing 19 weeks of subterfuge.
Packers coach Mike McCarthy said Monday. "Frankly from an offensive standpoint, because of the way the second half went, we still have a lot of offense from the first game that we never got to.
"So I guess there is a silver lining in that."

My guess would be they don't make the move unless Adams goes on IR.

I'm good with Abby. Time for him to shine. May also give Aaron some comfort which can't hurt. The guys runs excellent routes.
Abby wouldn't replace Adams since he doesn't really play outside. I'd agree it's either Janis or Williams, and Williams seems to have the better hands.
Cobb in the back field
Abby in the slot
Jones and Williams/Janis outside. Janis running fly routes.
Disappointing news about Adams. He seemed to be stepping up. For us to win, Abby, Janis, and/or Williams will need to make some plays.
Hopefully we get better news on Bak, Rollins, and Shields.

Anyone know how fast Ed Williams ran the 40? I can't find it anywhere.
Abby has not played a single snap at Adams' position. When the injury happened, he took over at slot and Cobb was in the backfield. Then Cobb took Adams' spot on the outside.
I realize Adams was finally starting to play better and I am happy for him, but I still would still say this is a blessing in disguise. It's going to cause a new wrinkle defenses haven't seen. And you have to believe it will inspire some snaps for Janis. It sucks it had to happen this way, but it appears it is the only way it was going to happen.
When I posted Abby time I did not mean that he literally would take over Adams position....I meant that it is time for him to step up and be a real cog in the offense.
There is no blessing in losing one of your top receivers.
Losing a starting receiver a blessing? Kind of like a sharp stick in the eye?
Right. Unless you are the Patriots who seem to be able to win with any stiff off the streets, this is not good.
Adams had some nice plays and some big catches in the Washington game. That tough sideline catch was huge.
Jared Janis has/have had all season to outperform Adams and take over his position.
Losing Adams right when the offense has maybe started clicking is no blessing.
#AZCardinals signed pass-rusher Jason Babin after LB Alex Okafor injured himself during the bye week. He goes on non-football injury list
â Ian Rapoport (@RapSheet) January 12, 2016
Oh, and non-football injury? Something about idle hands and the devil.
No Adams, no change in Shields and Bak's status from last week.....Rollins "doing everything" to try and play this weekend. Was going to be hard enough with these guys to beat Arizona.....without them, oh boy
Rope-a-dope
The Cardinals also placed defensive end Cory Redding on injured reserve after he hurt his ankle in the loss to the Seahawks that ended the regular season. Redding had five tackles and an interception in 12 games for the team this season. Linebacker Gabe Martin has been promoted from the practice squad to bring the roster back to 53 players.

He posted his own 40 time on Youtube and was handtimed at 4.44. From spending a lot of time around track meets over the last 9 years, you can probably add about 0.5 to 0.6 seconds to that, so that time of 4.53 that McGinn posts is probably about right.

Not having Barclay at LT is a big plus whether it's Tretter or Bak replacing him.
Losing the Davante Adams that showed up in the Redskin game is a loss. Losing the Davante Adams that played in the first Arizona game doesn't mean much.
I hear that Okafor was a starter that really started to come on at the end of the season, so many AZ fans consider that a significant loss.
Actually, other than Adams, nothing disappointing here:
The following is a summary of Packers coach Mike McCarthy's press conference Tuesday:
- (On Adams) He has a knee injury. We won't practice until tomorrow. We have the players in today. Just from meetings today and then we'll do our normal Thursday schedule tomorrow. I'll have a better idea tomorrow.
- (On Abbrederis) He's doing a lot of good things. Two-point play was something that was practiced when you get the defense and the mechanics of the protection. Doing a lot of good things.
- (On Bakhtiari and Shields) We'll know more tomorrow.
- (On Rollins status) I hope so. It was a pretty big blow when he told me about it. But he's knocking it out of the park in treatment. We'll see.
- (On Gunter coming in) I just love the way he plays and his aggressiveness.
- (On OL) Feel a lot better. Clearly something we needed to improve on. JC Tretter gave us that. Couple rough spots with assignments. Really our OL played well and JC played well. He could play six spots. Throw tight end in there. Mental tougnness is off the charts.
- (On team's confidence at end of games) I look at it as fundamental of Green Bay Packers football. You define and categorize critical plays. That's something you live for. Your quarterback and your playmakers live for. Have to win your one-on-ones.
- (On safety play) Important if you look at safety position, safeties and tight end have really elevated of having four guys who can play back there, especially with these tight ends running down the field. Shows you how important the safeties are.
- (On travel plans) Leaving on Friday.
Yeah "blessing in disguise" is an expression. Look it up.
The hidden advantage here is more speed on the field.
OK.
Thanks for explaining that to me.
Yeah.
You're welcome.

True, but this post season run is going to go as far as this D will take us.
any thoughts on why we got the Saturday game?
We are a higher seed than the Seahawks but have one less day.
both the panthers and Cardinals had a bye so theyre rested. An extra day might have been nice rather than a short week to travel out west
feeling surprisingly confident that this will at least, come down to the wire.
I guess the year we blew out the Cardinals on the last week of the season but then the playoffs was a totally different game makes we think that our approach and confidence will be higher this time around
WolfPack posted:any thoughts on why we got the Saturday game?

Because the NFL is fixed and they want the Seahawks vs the Cards.
Arizona couldn't get the Sunday early slot, and I presume the league didn't want them in the late slot on Sunday on the thinking that NE or Denver would bring in more eyeballs there. So Arizona gets a Saturday game.
That said, I'm surprised NE didn't get the Sunday late game.
