Maybe the QB he now has isn't all that capable?

Entirely possible...but the fanboy media will never entertain this as a possibility.

I want 10 to be the next franchise guy for the next decade and a half. He's got some tremendous physical skills, he's a not some dickbag out there embarrassing himself in the off-season, he lost his dad at a very young age, and had to overcome a lot of personal hurdles to get to where he is. On every level, I am pulling for the guy...but given the consistency of the problems he's had the only two seasons he's been a starter, it's a legit question to be asked. Is he good enough?

Hopefully year 3 of his time as starter we will see a lot more growth. At some point, the excuses become silly...last year he was a first year starter, and the running game was non-existent when 33 was hurt. This year it's his WR are failing him, they are dropping too many balls.

Fair or not, that's the burden for every QB1 in the NFL...you get all the praise when you win, and all the blame when you don't.

What impact did Rodgers have on LaFleur developing as a HC? Not an excuse, but I could understand that being a factor. 13-3, 13-3, 13-4... being a NFL HC, so easy a X4 member could do it.

2nd year with Love, and a new defense. Do I want them to win every game? You betcha. There can be only one.

I don't expect them to be the youngest team in the league next season. I do expect them to be a real threat to win it all next season.

I was not advocating for MLF to be fired.  Nor do I want him to be fired.  But, he is on a precarious pathway, that only he can change.

I think this playoff game vs Philly could be the most pivotal game yet in his career.  Win well and all gets better.  Win ugly and things still seem better.  Lose competently and competitively, things will appear better.  Lose ugly due to the same mistakes and lackluster performance, then MLF places himself in a difficult position with and unpredictable future on the hot seat.

^^^ sums up pretty much how I feel about the head coach. Well said!

Thanks for the assist 4 Favre!!

"We might get a worse coach!" is never a valid argument for not firing someone. I am not saying MLF should or shouldn't be fired.

There's a lot of factors that go into that kind of decision...but making awful game management mistakes, 6 years into your career as a HC, isn't a good look. And it has happened every year under MLF. That's not to say we should expect mistake-free football...that's an unrealistic expectation. But for a veteran coach with a mostly veteran staff is a bad look annually.

And then we get YEAH BUT THE PACKERS ARE THE YOUNGEST TEAM IN THE NFL!!!!

True 25 years and 7 months is the average age of the Packers players...the LA Rams are next up (25 years, 11 mos), followed by the Broncos (26y, 1m), Bucs (26y, 1m), Chargers(26y, 2m), Eagles(26y, 2m), Raiders(26y, 3m) and Chiefs(26y, 3m).

https://bookies.com/nfl/picks/nfl-teams-average-age

So are we to believe the difference of an average of 3 months between the Packers, Eagles and Chiefs is the critical factor?

Bullshit!

I don't think it's the average actual age of players that counts; it's the actual years of experience in the league that really counts. Right now, I don't know what that is, but I think it makes a difference if the average years in the league is 3.5 vs. 2.4.

The whole youngest bit is a nice badge of honor and is usually a sign of good drafting and healthy salary cap management via investment in youth.  But at some point that investment has to pay off through development.

I think there is a lot of good depth and a few potential blue chippers but it is now time to add some established vets to improve areas of need like DE, CB, OL and WR as well as helping the youngsters along.  They need 2 or 3 X/JJ types at those positions for the team to take that next step.  They'll have some cap to do it.

MLF isn't going anywhere this year. No way WMM does anything to divert from Rainbows and Puppy Dogs in his victory lap year. He will kick this down the road and let Gutey be the asshole in the room who ultimately whacks Captain Eyebrows. It's the Packers Way.

He's not getting fired. This is Green Bay. What's the best record a coach ever had here and got fired? Had to be Ray Rhodes and his 8-8 season but that whole locker room was a mess under a HC that was essentially checked out.

MLF is gonna need to have like a 6-11 season to lose his job. And I don't see that happening with this team any time soon. Get used to him, he's our coach until this roster turns over or he decides to move on.

Exactly.  There is a reason that teams like the Jets, Raiders, Jags, etc. never get anywhere its because they are impatient and make changes at HC so frequently.

They also have crappy front offices that also don't know  what  they are doing either and they stay in this vicious cycle of being shitty.

Teams like the Steelers and Packers have steady front offices and strive for continuity on the field.  MLF is not going anywhere even if they lose tomorrow (and I honestly believe they will) he is not on the hot seat.  IMHO it would take some extreme circumstances or a horrid season for him to be gone.

I think GB is in a good spot.  They are a good young team, the cap situation is going to get better, and mark my words teams like the Lions and Vikings will fall off  soon.

The other concern would be that Love can't make adjustments during a game very easily.

There is so little time to prepare week to week for opponents that you have to go by what they put on tape.  You do not have the time nor the resources to plan for every contingency.  The game plan has to be implemented early in the week and practiced.  It may be more of a statement that the Packers game plan well but do not adjust well or adjust late to curveballs.  As Love gets more experience, I would think the opponent's strategy would be less effective.

MLF in his presser today gave details on how WR mistakes contributed to the first 2 interceptions vs. the Eagles. On the first one, Wicks should have "stacked" the DB when he beats him off the LOS, the move is to step into the CB's path to make sure he stays behind you, not running to the side of you. On the second interception Malik Heath ran his in-breaking route at 15 yards instead of 20 yards, which closed off the window inside and allowed Baun to undercut the throw.“The second pick, again, details. That route has to be run at 20 yards. We’re at 15 yards,” LaFleur said. “That ball should never be in that far. So, like, I saw what Jordan saw. There’s an open hole in the defense. But when you’re not at the right route depth, bad things happen.”

Let’s say that’s all trueâ€Ķ.if a guy makes that mistakeâ€Ķ15 yds instead of 20 yards, after being in meetings, in off season workouts and in games after 2 years in the system, well,  that says a lot.  A lot about his position coaches, head coach and the player himself.  Mostly the player.

Color him gone.  Can’t have that.

There is also going to be less tolerance for a mistake if the guy is a borderline player in terms of ability. You would hope that everyone would pay attention to the details, but a guy that's on the fringes of the roster (Heath) should be doing everything he can to make sure that he's prepared when he gets a chance.

Wicks has had a little more success, but it sounds like he also made a mistake in technique.

I think it's time to jettison a lot of these developmental WR 2-3 year vets and get some guys in here who worry about the details. A guy like Lazard might be a nice, cheap option on a close to minimum deal.
