I'm curious if they're looking to double down early on CBs because FAU CB D'Joun Smith would be a likely target in round 3 possibly. Very similar to Randall, very heady instinctive player with excellent ball skills. Easily one of the most underrated players in the whole draft.

Wonder what they will say tomorrow.

@AdamSchefter: La'el Collins and his reps have decided if he's not selected tonight he will not sign a contract with a team and will re-enter draft next year.

The draft is in Chicago?????  Damn, I thought Radio City Music Hall was rather quiet. And to think I've been standing here since Wednesday.

Smert move!

Brandt's tweets shouldn't be missed...million dollar advice here.

Best thing for La'el Collins business-wise may be to go undrafted, sign three-year deal (drafted players have to sign four-year deals).

But if he gets picked, can't he hold out and not sign?  Then he'd have to go back into the draft next year (ie: Bo Jackson), likely being a first or second round pick.  And if he goes undrafted, he could refuse to sign with a team and then he'd either go back into the draft, or be a street free agent (not sure exactly how it works, but has to be one of those options).  Both those options seem to work better for him than being a late round pick.

Point worth remembering. Packers do as well with UDFAs as anybody.

@JeffAshPG: #Packers already wooing players who may go undrafted. Having no 7th-round pick may give them head start.

Yeah what would stop him from doing this?  If he goes the UDFA route, he's playing for the minimum salary for 4 years.  If he plays in the CFL for a year, doesn't he just become a free agent that can sign with any team for any amount of money?  Definitely a rare case but not sure why this wouldn't work.

Top score this year was 84.

In your defense, Trey Flowers was drafted 101

Yikes... and people blasted the Tedord QBs.

Couple corrections.  Kellen Clemens was a 2nd round pick, and George Shaw from Oregon was also a 1st round pick (also a losing record)

I love that all 2 of the FSU QBs and all 4 of the Oregon QBs drafted in 1st round allow one to make an implied prediction.  DERP.

HAY GUIZE - ALL WEST VIRGINIA QBS DRAFTED IN THE FIRST ROUND (Geno Smith) ARE BUSTS, SO GOOD DRAFT STRATEGERY IS TO NEVER DRAFT A WVU QB IN 1ST ROUND!

I IS SMRT!

Well well well.

@NFLCharean: Cowboys have signed La'el Collins, according to a source.

@DanWetzel: "If he wasn't involved in a murder, great value" -- the NFL these days.

So Dallas ends up with 3 1st round talents pretty much. Just what that OL needed, another top tier prospect to add to it

Jerruh going all out regardless of character to try and give Romo as many pieces as possible before the window closes on the Romo era. Dude's got maybe 3-4 years left.

@RapSheet: The #Cowboys deal for #LSU OL La’El Collins is for 3 years, fully guaranteed, per source. (@NFLCharean had it first).

@RapSheet: The #Cowboys monitored La’El Collins’ situation from the beginning, doing endless homework. They nearly drafted him a few times.

@RapSheet: How much are the #Cowboys paying La’El Collins as a signing bonus? All the money left in their undrafted free agent pool.

@AlbertBreer: Per source, La'el Collins' 3-year deal is worth about $1.7 million. It's fully guaranteed, which is believed to be unprecedented for a UDFA.

@adbrandt: Strategy of getting to undrafted FA works for La'el Collins. Fully guaranteed 3 yr deal w/Dallas, no offsets, can renegotiate after two.

Stupid not to draft him in the seventh round, then. Under slotted, non-guaranteed contract, probably cheaper, for 4 vice 3 years.

True, but at the time he was still being questioned and nobody really knew how serious things were. No team was going to risk selecting him at all for fear of backlash if things turned out to be more serious

As it is, Cowboys land themselves a 1st round talent and we know Jerry likely paid him some more under the table to get things done. Even with their draft haul, they still are behind GB and SEA IMO. Not a lot separates GB and Dallas in terms of rosters except for one thing, the most important thing...Rodgers is a better QB than Romo

There is always that surprise team or 2 every year but right now I'm not sure what other team in the NFC can stack up to GB/SEA/DAL this season.

LOL, backlash? Jerruh doesn't even know what the word means.
