GB could be dumping huge amounts of smoke to get a team after 14 to trade up while there is still a willing team at 14 to trade up with.

Cant believe much of anything 15 minutes before draft time.

Since defense wins championships, and john Dorsey knows this, Cleveland screws all the mocks and takes Chubb #1.   Then they can still get Barkley or one of the top QBs at #4.

Trade up & get Derwin James - I would not be unhappy

Trade down & get a bunch of 2nd & 3rd rounders - I would not be unhappy

It's time to draft!! Hopefully the Packers select some difference makers

Sorry, but trading down makes ZERO sense...they already have 12 picks...as it is, 12 picks are NOT going to make the roster, get rid of some of that capitol and maneuver up as much as possible and get guys you THINK can make an immediate impact.

I'm not so sure 12 wouldn't. A full quarter of that in corners alone could be on the roster.

I ran another sim and came up with this:

Round 1 Pick 14:  James, Derwin, SS/FS, Florida State
Round 2 Pick 19 (DET):  Oliver, Isaiah, CB, Colorado
Round 3 Pick 5 (NYG):  Nwossu, Uchena, OLB, USC
Round 3 Pick 20 (LAC):  Gallup, Michael, WR, Colorado State
Round 4 Pick 1:  Yiadom, Isaac, CB, Boston College
Round 4 Pick 19 (LAC):  Burks, Oren, ILB, Vanderbilt
Round 4 Pick 33:  Noteboom, Joseph, OT, Texas Christian
Round 5 Pick 16 (DET):  Fumagalli, Troy, TE, Wisconsin
Round 5 Pick 35:  Nelson, Nick, CB, Wisconsin
Round 5 Pick 37:  Norton, Kendrick, DT, Miami (FL)
Round 6 Pick 12:  Armstrong Jr, Dorance, DE/OLB, Kansas
Round 6 Pick 33:  Demby, Jamil, OG, Maine
Round 7 Pick 21:  Wilson, Cedrick, WR, Boise State

Detroit paid a premium in Round 2 for a trade up within the division, having acquired a second #3 from the Giants. I would absolutely love something like this.

I missed Anthony Miller in the 3rd, but getting a quality need like Nwossu and still getting the last of my favorite receivers, Michael Gallup, was fine.

Getting Yiadom and Burks in the 4th would be absolutely amazing, IMO. Those are guys I honestly think are solid 3rd rounders and I thought taking Yiadom would mean I'd miss out on Burks but the board and algorithm were extremely kind.

I had no intention of taking two Badgers but Nelson was just way too good of a value to pass on there, meniscus-be-damned. Worst case, IMO, he starts on the PUP. I was looking at taking Michael Joseph instead.

Or not

Good deal, we might have taken Alexander at 14 anyway, and some heads would have really exploded.

BTW, the father of Marcus Davenport is originally from New Orleans and has remained a Saints fan.  So he's good with the trade too.

I have to stay an optimist - the beer tastes better, and it's so much easier to sleep at night!

Was away, and am watching now.......I'm sure I missed the trade with the Aints....what the hell was that all about??  I know 4 spots, 14 to 18 but WTHeck??  and please explain in lay women terms.

Not saying I disagree with the moves, but I really wanted Tremaine Edmunds and so it is disappointing that he was available and then not available within the three pick window the Packers gave up.

19 years old, 6'5" 250.  Wouldn't be surprised if he ends up worth more than Alexander + whoever the Pack gets with the 1st next year.

Hey Boris......Why can't I delete jaymo's post?.....I thought he was only limited to the Viking thread.

*By the way, I am fine with not having to delete it...but I thought that was my designated assignment.

Jaymo and the other Vikings knucklehead are fine. The problem is with everyone else allowing them to affect every thread.

If Gute drafts a punter in the 5th, or at all,  he won't survive the year.

Dickson's a good punter....best one in the draft....

Why would we even consider a Punter in this draft? Vogel did well for the Packers last season. No need to replace him or waste a draft pick on a Punter.

OK...I feel somewhat vindicated, as the Packers really did pick a punter in the 5th round. It wasn't Dickson. I had him selected near the end of 5, although he also went near the top of the 5th.

J-Mo is a mischevous underdevloped child that doesn't respect adults desire to have grown up conversations. Let him be. Read his posts the same way you'd read that round headed kids comments in Family Circus comic strips. It's the same thing.

The kid had better work out or it will be the biggest question mark on Gute's 1st Draft. There were TEs and Edge rushers available there. Why not go for one of them over a Punter, which we really did not need. I think TT made the pick. LOL!

Brian is paid to make the team better...I was simply trying to project who we might pick, and I was spot on with that one, although with a different punter.

Please name some talent who we passed on there, and yes, I am concerned we didn't take a TE, but I think it needed to be in the 3rd or 4th round.

As for edge rushers, I guess the team feels we are set there...let's hope they're right.

There were two TEs and six Edge rushers picked after the Punter.  Unless the answer in "any of them", which of those picks do you think the Packers would've been better off taking?

According to Fansided the Packers had the #1 draft class this year.

1. Green Bay Packers

Green Bay general manager Brian Gutekunst ran his first draft, and what a job he did. In the first round, the Packers traded back with the New Orleans Saints to acquire a 2019 first-round pick, then moved back up to land corner Jaire Alexander. Not satisfied, Gutekunst again went with a corner in the second round, getting tremendous value in Josh Jackson.

The Packers know they have a limited window to win a Super Bowl with Aaron Rodgers getting up there in age, and Gutekunst took full advantage of the draft.
