Today was the first day Alexander was seen at practice stretching with the team inside.

OBJ, if even he lost some speed, would immediately become the second best WR on the team.  I like the Packers receiving Corp, but he would be a significant upgrade. Significant.

As far as a contract being offset and him signing elsewhere, I would assume another team(s) is considering paying him more than what the Browns owe him for this year (doubtful), or another team(s) is considering giving him a contract beyond this half season (which would be presumably more money).

Regarding his potential of being a problem, if he’s only signed for this season, he’s easily cut without a problem.

He's played in 6 games and has 17 catches on the year. If he's healthy and still has quickness to get in/out of breaks and still has speed and knows his role, yep. He can be 2nd best wr but if he isn't on the field, it's a waste of time. He hasn't shown in quite some time that he can consistently be a factor and remain on the field for stretches of games. Splash plays once every 5 weeks don't equate to being a 2nd best wideout.

Which Packers WR has had a regular impact this season other than Adams?

They don’t need him to be the #1, so his availability doesn’t have to be an every down player. At the vet minimum, would you rather have him on the field or Malik Taylor? EQS? Cobb ? These guys have been or mostly been invisible from week to week.  Love MVS and Lazard, especially as blockers in the run game.  But they are about as inconsistent statistically from week to week as they come.

IMO, OBJ at half speed is the second best WR on Packers without doubt if he signs.

And, I’ll add that I’m much more confident in a Packers offense run by AR, MLF and Hackett much, much more than anything the Browns can offer.

Cleveland's offense is set up for Beckham to excel as well. Great line, great run game, plenty of weapons at wr and te. He's been there three years and most people have forgotten he was even there. If they bring him in, fine, I hope he lives up to every expectation. But there's just as plausible reasoning that it won't work as reasoning that it will.

I just don't exactly agree with inviting any more drama, real or imagined, after the bullshit of the offseason and the self induced garbage of the past two/three weeks. Stability inside 1265 should be a priority as well if we're serious about getting a ring. If he transforms into Andre Rison and helps win a title, I'm fine with that.

I shouldn’t be surprised but that pretty much confirms what we always thought about GB being used as pawns to get players better deals from other teams …

Agents used to ask me if they could act like we’re interested in players. I said “Whatever, have at it..”

There a few differences between the Packers and CLE that should be taken into consideration though.

1 - Rodgers vs Mayfield.

2 - Four Million vs vet minimum.

I think you are right not to expect the guy who used to put up 1400 yard season, but for vet min, we could have a talented guy to come in on 3rd n long 5 WR sets or fill in for an injury.

The argument isn't is he all world or not, it's is he better than Malik Taylor and if so, is it by a margin that offsets the potential drama he brings.

I know people are concerned but honestly what’s been a bigger distraction than Rodgers and his bullshit?  In the end, it’s about W and L.

As a once astute Russian gambler said “he beat me.  Pay that man his money”

Translation- sign the dude.

You team him up with Adams, and good luck defenses.  I know OBJ has taken some hits, and he may be overrated, but you have to honor him. Meaning you have to devote attention to him on D.  Outside of Adams, teams do not respect MVS or Cobb or Lazard.  Plus, maybe he can return kicks or punts?

From & me: Indications are that Odell Beckham Jr. is “going to take some time” to decide on his next team and that decision is “a few days away.” So, stay tuned.

Some are speculating OBJ is waiting until Rodgers is cleared out of protocol vs playing with a rookie QB this week by signing now. It’s an interesting take I didn’t think of … 🧐🧐

I agree.  He’s waiting to see if another team with “championship possibilities” (justified in his mind) will offer more $$$ and/or a better contract.

Pack don’t need him. Would be a potential luxury to have.

@TexWestern
An OBJ thought: no team is going to sign him for more than the offset amount. If they were willing to pay that much for him, they would have just claimed him on waivers. Therefore, all his offers will be for vet min deals. Money not a factor in his decision.

Just a glimmer of competency on special teams. Please and thank you.

OBJ - don’t really give a shit.  Glad they are kickin the tires. It’s nice to be in the conversation

ST are what they are…shit isn’t changing much. Another shitty long snapping day, they may bring Bradley back.

From what I saw and later read it was primarily the holders fault on those kicks.

Just to clarify, per ESPN AND SI

Beckham will get $4.25 million from the Browns plus whatever his next team pays him, and he’ll keep both amounts.

Wait, what? The same 4 letter network reported the offset language in his contract. Which ESPN is correct?

You guys are all wet. I have it on good authority that the delay is due to his intention to dine at the Green Bay Applebees first. If it ain’t good, he ain’t going to GB!

OBJ is from Baton Rouge and played at LSU. Maybe he really wanted to go the Saints when this all started but with Winston out it's a lot less appealing.

Maybe but yeah, Trevor Simien doesn’t scream “championship caliber”.

What a pusscake. I’d tell them fuck off and send out a press release saying the Packers are not pursuing X player.

Eh, I could see this as an advantage. Do a favor for an agent and maybe they return you a solid later on.

But probably not.

I was head over heals engaged in this yesterday, but now I’m starting to get bored with it. More power to OBJ for taking his time to make a decision, it’s his career and life. However, if he really wanted to play somewhere in particular you think it would have happened by now.
