Another plus of the Rams spanking the Vikings: Packers move up to #23, though the Vikings are now at #24.

I thought I saw a post that said Minnesota only has 4 draft picks, in 2025, due to all the maneuvering they did, last draft, to get McCarthy. I think their GM, Kwesi, will sell their soul, once again, to get more picks. And when Kwesi finds out that the vikings are at 24 while the Packers are at 23, in the draft, he might move up, just so he can be above the Packers, when the vikings select. That would be a Minnesota move, for sure.

Current Vikings 2025 Draft Picks:

Round 1

Round 5

Round 5 (from Browns via Za'Darius Smith trade)

The team traded it's second, third and fourth round picks in the 2024 NFL Draft in exchange for the pick the team used to take OLB Dallas Turner during the 2024 NFL Draft.

The team's sixth and seventh round picks were traded to the Cleveland Browns in the Smith deal which took place in May of 2023.

The Vikings are expected to be awarded one compensatory pick according to this NFL.com article based on free agency comings and goings this past year.

At least there won't be many Viking fans at Lambeau cheering all their draft picks.

We all laughed at the Vicklings not having any picks last year but I would be happy to trade Morgan, Monk and Hopper and for VanGinkle Greenard and A Jones. It got them 14 wins and a whisker for Home field. But the Vicklings are gonna Vickling

And they didn't give up as much for McCarthy (1, 4, 5) as they did for Dallas Turner (1,5 and a 3,4 this year)

Draft picks from the Sam Seale West Coast collection. TT drafted a lot heavier from the west than Gutekunst.

2024 - 4 (Morgan/first, Lloyd/third, Williams/fourth, Oladapo/fifth)

2023 - 1 (Musgrave/second)

2022 - 2 (Rhyan/third, Doubs/fourth)

2021 - 0

2020 - 2 (Love/first, Hanson/sixth)

2019 - 0

2018  - 2 (Madison/fifth, Looney/seventh)

Under TT:

2017  - 3

2016 - 4

2015 - 3

2014 - 3

2013 - 3

2012 - 1

2011- 4

For those wanting a new C for the Packers, 2025 isn't a great draft for C when you consider the metrics the Packers value...height and weight namely.

In fact the last time they drafted a C, they opted for a converted LT in Josh Myers because he was 6'5" and Creed Humphrey, a superior C prospect, was only 6'4".

Of the top pure centers, there is only one that fits the Packers desired height metric...USC's Jonah Monheim.

The best pure C is UGA's Jared Wilson...but at 6'3" (perhaps even 6'2" and 1/2) he won't fit the Packers measurables and will likely be off their board. Other names to consider, but all 6'4" or less, Ohio State's Seth McLaughlin, BC's Drew Kendall and Texas' Jake Majors.

But then you risk putting a rookie C out there playing the toughest position outside of LT on the line.

My guess would be the Packers will re-sign Myers and perhaps draft someone they can develop...a versatile player like Zach Tom. Of course, Tom being like another Jenkins, could possibly be in the conversation for C if the Packers feel confident enough in Jordan Morgan at RT.

Grey Zabel is also projected by some as a Center candidate. It’ll be interesting to see if he gets snaps there at the Senior Bowl.

Monheim also has tackle experience.

I don't advocate very often in moving a guy that excels at one position to fill another position, but I also don't think the Packers should try to fill a "square peg problem" with a "round hole solution". If they can't upgrade the Center position via the draft, a trade, or FA, then maybe the option is to move Tom or Jenkins to Center and utilize this past year's First Round pick.

I wonder if Gutekunst might break his trends for Hafley’s defense. One thing TT seemed to do was draft his type of guys and his priorities, regardless of the scheme, and Gutekunst seems to have been cut from the same cloth at times. He broke the 15-year trend of ignoring ILB when finally drafting Walker and Cooper. Maybe he’ll finally go for a bendy edge rusher.

What do the Packers need prior to next season?

CB: 2. I’d argue they need at least two who can play pretty much right away. None of the guys they ended the season with should be counted as starters. Valentine’s a decent backup, the rest can fight it out on special teams.

Edge: 2. I think two as Enagbare and Cox are free agents after next season and Van Ness may even end up inside. It’s also probably the strongest position in this draft, so double dip.

WR: 1-2. One might be enough if he’s good next year, but this isn’t a strong receiver class so may need to spend on a good veteran.

OL: 1-2. If Morgan is healthy they may be able to shuffle a decent starting lineup, but their depth was shown to be highly suspect and Walker and Tom have contracts expiring after next season. Tom’s going to want to be paid like a tackle.

LB: 1. Could really use a staring-caliber player. Doesn’t need to be a big-money or super high pick, but a guy who will be able to not be a liability.

DT: 0-2. Slaton is a free agent and Clark isn’t getting any younger. Maybe Van Ness moves inside some but they don’t really have a short yardage hog if Slaton leaves.

S: 1. Depth guy and special teams. Probably just re-sign Zayne Anderson on RFA deal.

RB: 1. This is probably the other contender for stronger position in the draft so take advantage. Plus, if Wayne/Larry are familiar with pop culture references, it would be a lot of fun if they got QUINSHOOOOOOOOOOON JUDKINS!

QB: 0. Weak draft class and Willis seems like a good backup. Clifford is fine as #3.

TE: 0-1. Maybe Musgrave insurance and depth if one they really like falls, but Sims is a decent depth piece and special teams guy.

Specialists: Re-sign McManus and for the love if gods get a good long snapper. Probably don’t spend a draft pick.
