That didn't take long.
It's only Tuesday. ð
Already had some posts about the draft - it's in Green Bay this year.
Cornerbacks please. A few of themâĶ
Trade up for a dominant WR1, draft DBâs round 3 or later cuz the ones we do draft high play like day 3 players anyway
A bona fide pass rusher has to be at the top of Guteâs list. Either through FA or the draft. Pressure on the QB makes the entire backend better.

Yes, We saw what a pass rush did for Detroit, vs the vikings. Also, for a while, the vikings pass rush was disruptive against the Lions. Since both those teams are in our division, we can see how a strong pass rush worked against both teams. Gute's focus, in the Draft and in FA, should be on doing what it takes to win the North. No more of this 1-5 crap. Time to dominate! Pass rushers have to be at the top of the list, and a speedy, deep threat WR, right behind it.
PRESSURE. PRESSURE. PRESSURE!!!
Make the QB move off his mark and Kevin King would have a shot at the Pro bowl!

Jordan Burch seems a guy Gutekunst would like. 6â6â 295# edge from Sam Steele land. Heâs a âCock transfer, as well.
Haven't seen any rankings yet, but I'm fairly confident Gute will draft a CB or DT/DE in Round 1. He do what he do.
It appears to be a good year for edge rushers, at least, and OT looks pretty decent, as does corner.
@D J posted:If healthy, he'll be long one.
Assuming you missed a "g" there but the draft is in Green Bay. Wondering if Gute will make a splash and trade up if he sees high value in 1 of the players.
From what I can tell this is a weak draft overall so more picks might be on tap again.
Entire 7th round is Packers!ð
1- Corner
2- WR
3- Punter
4- Oline
5- Small school D tackle
6- CB
7- CB
@D J posted:If healthy, he'll be long one.
I'm not so sure. It'll be interesting to see if he or Jared Ivey test better as they're similar players. He doesn't quite have an elite first step and he doesn't have great bend being as large as he is.
Guys like Abdul Carter and Dani Sutton from Penn State, James Pearce from Tennessee, Mykel Williams and Jalon Walker from Georgia, Mike Green from Marshall, Donovan Ezeiruaku from BC, Princely Umanmielen from Mississippi and Josiah Stewart from Michigan all have better get-off, and the Ohio State guys may also be in play. Walker should probably go to a 3-4 team due to his size , he's a fair bit like Nolan Smith before him, but the rest should be big enough to play hand-down DE.

Are you crazy? No way they wait till 5th round for the small school dt/de! Gute will trade up for one.
I wouldn't mind trading a pick(s) for an impact player (especially on D). There seems to be this thought that a team can never have too many picks. I don't necessarily subscribe to this,(but I'm just a fan). Gute's track record in the draft with high picks is (like most GMs), hit or miss. But the high picks on defense haven't been that great. If there are some impact defensive players available, I would hope he'd at least consider.

Maxx Crosby please. Wonât happen, but it would be fun.
X abuzz over NDSU WR Bryce Lance's performance last night in the FCS title game, but the kid has been making big plays all year. Only a junior, rumors are the top programs are offering him $1M to hit the portal...but as bad as the WR class is this year, he may do better declaring for the draft.
He's not a burner like Watson, but he's 6'3", 215lbs and still growing. I believe he's only 20. Seems like a guy the Packers would like.
Only if he brings Trey along
Homer alert. Kyle Kennard.
I believe the top 3 needs currently for the Packers are CB, DL and WR. CB because Jaire can't stay healthy. DL because we need more pass rush. And, WR because of Watson's injury. Whether through the draft or FA Gutey needs to get some impact players at those positions.
They played the most zone this year because without Jaire they couldnât play much man with their struggling CB room.
Jahdae Barron from TX can play boundary, slot or safety and press, and might be on the wish list. Zy Alexander from LSU might be a guy if they go elsewhere in the first.
Shavon Revel from East Carolina and Benjamin Morrison from Notre Dame will be interesting. Both were trending towards top-15 picks before injury. Combine medicals will be huge for them.

Watched 2nd half of that game and the player that impressed me most was the Montana State quarterback, Tommy Mellot. Looked great throwing and running and supposed to be a great leader.
Mellott is Taysom Hill 2.0 but two inches smaller. He will get a shot somewhere...not sure if his skillset translates to the NFL, but he's a tremendous athlete. NDSU's Cam Miller is going to get a legit shot with an NFL squad. Wouldn't mind the Packers bringing him in as a QB3.
Mellot is a burner! He torched the field on that long run. He looks like McCaffery in many ways but on a smaller scale.
Speaking of, I'm surprised nobody is talking about Cam Scattaboo!

Grey Zabel's a guy I could see them liking, as well. He played OT for NDSU, but might be able to play anywhere along the line. The knock is his arms are a little short, and he's a little light, but the Packers have generally liked guys who have started multiple years and are in that 305# to #315 range.
NDSU's Lance was big time on Monday's championship. Plus a name that is close to my heart.
Well, I'm a fan of Abdul Carter now. Put him next to Edge.
Will Amos be available at #32?

I would bet good money that Gute's draft board probably has pass rushers at the very top of his list. Gute IMHO is really good at recognizing issues at a position and he will attack that weakness as he did with safety last offseason.
So I wonder with Stokes they will try and keep him since he has been playing much better lately. I kind of think they will let him walk but if they could get him for a decent price it may be worth keeping him around.
Maybe Hafley has successfully whispered to Stokes. I hope so. Still young. Still has potential.
@lovepack posted:Maybe Hafley has successfully whispered to Stokes. I hope so. Still young. Still has potential.
I think that is exactly what happened. Stokes missed what a whole season and good chunk of another to injury? He was pretty darn good at the beginning so maybe he found out he can still play.
Stokes is Kevin King with less lateral agility and man coverage skills, but a bit better straight line speed. Injuries have robbed them of what they could have been, though Stokes may still be okay if he can stay healthy going forward.
BPA at a position of need with pick #32.
Another plus of the Rams spanking the Vikings: Packers move up to #23, though the Vikings are now at #24.

I thought I saw a post that said Minnesota only has 4 draft picks, in 2025, due to all the maneuvering they did, last draft, to get McCarthy. I think their GM, Kwesi, will sell their soul, once again, to get more picks. And when Kwesi finds out that the vikings are at 24 while the Packers are at 23, in the draft, he might move up, just so he can be above the Packers, when the vikings select. That would be a Minnesota move, for sure.
After the weekend I think the Pack picks 23rd and the queens 24th in this years draft. Also read MN only has 3 picks in this draft, their 1st and two 5ths, plus maybe a compensatory pick.
Current Vikings 2025 Draft Picks:
Round 1
Round 5
Round 5 (from Browns via Za'Darius Smith trade)
The team traded it's second, third and fourth round picks in the 2024 NFL Draft in exchange for the pick the team used to take OLB Dallas Turner during the 2024 NFL Draft.
The team's sixth and seventh round picks were traded to the Cleveland Browns in the Smith deal which took place in May of 2023.
The Vikings are expected to be awarded one compensatory pick according to this NFL.com article based on free agency comings and goings this past year.

At least there won't be many Viking fans at Lambeau cheering all their draft picks.
If Flores gets a head coaching job will the Vikings get a draft pick for that?
I don't think they would. The only way to get a draft pick for a coach would be agreeing to a lateral move.
Im not talking from the other team Iâm talking about from the league for developing minorities for head coaching jobs
I think they would. Someone pointed out that SF had a good thing going with their last 3? DC's who were promoted and SF got I think RD3 picks for them. Which really came in handy when they were trading away all their higher picks for FA's and moving up for Trey Lance.
Well traditionally they would under the scenario Iâve pointed out, but will they seeing heâs already been a head coach? And will the Packers get a pick if Saleh gets a HC job this year?
Packers have pick #23
Thanks, Goldiboris.
My goodness, you really gotta watch your step around here.
We all laughed at the Vicklings not having any picks last year but I would be happy to trade Morgan, Monk and Hopper and for VanGinkle Greenard and A Jones. It got them 14 wins and a whisker for Home field. But the Vicklings are gonna Vickling

And they didn't give up as much for McCarthy (1, 4, 5) as they did for Dallas Turner (1,5 and a 3,4 this year)
Draft picks from the Sam Seale West Coast collection. TT drafted a lot heavier from the west than Gutekunst.
2024 - 4 (Morgan/first, Lloyd/third, Williams/fourth, Oladapo/fifth)
2023 - 1 (Musgrave/second)
2022 - 2 (Rhyan/third, Doubs/fourth)
2021 - 0
2020 - 2 (Love/first, Hanson/sixth)

2013 - 3
2012 - 1

Trade his first for a top tier FA?
How is it possible to trade for a free agent?

Don't give the vikings GM any ideas....
@YooperPackfan posted:How is it possible to trade for a free agent?
Restricted FA. But also my posting too early in the morning.
Or someone that is going to be a F A next season and you can work out a long term deal before the trade. With permission of the players current team that is.
@pkr_north posted:kidding, not kidding...trade out of the first. gutie's record is not stellar.
The Bills and Bears have two seconds, but the Bills are #24 and their own, so really late, and the Bears need to keep their picks. Plus, Iâm not sure Gutekunst would want to not have a Day 1 pick with the draft in Green Bay.
For those wanting a new C for the Packers, 2025 isn't a great draft for C when you consider the metrics the Packers value...height and weight namely.
In fact the last time they drafted a C, they opted for a converted LT in Josh Myers because he was 6'5" and Creed Humphrey, a superior C prospect, was only 6'4".
Of the top pure centers, there is only one that fits the Packers desired height metric...USC's Jonah Monheim.
The best pure C is UGA's Jared Wilson...but at 6'3" (perhaps even 6'2" and 1/2) he won't fit the Packers measurables and will likely be off their board. Other names to consider, but all 6'4" or less, Ohio State's Seth McLaughlin, BC's Drew Kendall and Texas' Jake Majors.
But then you risk putting a rookie C out there playing the toughest position outside of LT on the line.
My guess would be the Packers will re-sign Myers and perhaps draft someone they can develop...a versatile player like Zach Tom. Of course, Tom being like another Jenkins, could possibly be in the conversation for C if the Packers feel confident enough in Jordan Morgan at RT.
Packers type prospect out of Colorado State...
One of the million online post game reviews said there was a rumor LAR could trade Kupp this offseason and look for someone in the draft to pair with Nacua.
Sounds like a bunch of bananas but LAR has not been shy about dealing players in or out.

Grey Zabel is also projected by some as a Center candidate. Itâll be interesting to see if he gets snaps there at the Senior Bowl.
Monheim also has tackle experience.
I don't advocate very often in moving a guy that excels at one position to fill another position, but I also don't think the Packers should try to fill a "square peg problem" with a "round hole solution". If they can't upgrade the Center position via the draft, a trade, or FA, then maybe the option is to move Tom or Jenkins to Center and utilize this past year's First Round pick.
I wonder if Gutekunst might break his trends for Hafleyâs defense. One thing TT seemed to do was draft his type of guys and his priorities, regardless of the scheme, and Gutekunst seems to have been cut from the same cloth at times. He broke the 15-year trend of ignoring ILB when finally drafting Walker and Cooper. Maybe heâll finally go for a bendy edge rusher.
What do the Packers need prior to next season?
CB: 2. Iâd argue they need at least two who can play pretty much right away. None of the guys they ended the season with should be counted as starters. Valentineâs a decent backup, the rest can fight it out on special teams.
Edge: 2. I think two as Enagbare and Cox are free agents after next season and Van Ness may even end up inside. Itâs also probably the strongest position in this draft, so double dip.
WR: 1-2. One might be enough if heâs good next year, but this isnât a strong receiver class so may need to spend on a good veteran.
OL: 1-2. If Morgan is healthy they may be able to shuffle a decent starting lineup, but their depth was shown to be highly suspect and Walker and Tom have contracts expiring after next season. Tomâs going to want to be paid like a tackle.
LB: 1. Could really use a staring-caliber player. Doesnât need to be a big-money or super high pick, but a guy who will be able to not be a liability.
DT: 0-2. Slaton is a free agent and Clark isnât getting any younger. Maybe Van Ness moves inside some but they donât really have a short yardage hog if Slaton leaves.
S: 1. Depth guy and special teams. Probably just re-sign Zayne Anderson on RFA deal.
RB: 1. This is probably the other contender for stronger position in the draft so take advantage. Plus, if Wayne/Larry are familiar with pop culture references, it would be a lot of fun if they got QUINSHOOOOOOOOOOON JUDKINS!
QB: 0. Weak draft class and Willis seems like a good backup. Clifford is fine as #3.
TE: 0-1. Maybe Musgrave insurance and depth if one they really like falls, but Sims is a decent depth piece and special teams guy.
Specialists: Re-sign McManus and for the love if gods get a good long snapper. Probably donât spend a draft pick.
This year we had 6 new starters with only one (Sean Ryan) coming from within. Two from Free Agency and 3 from the draft. As it looks now, we are going to likely lose 2 starters , Alexander and Myers. It doesn't appear that we'd be able to adequately fill either of these spots from within (perhaps they had hoped Monk would replace Myers, but it appears the has fallen out of favor with the staff). It is going to be interesting to see what positions Gute prioritizes in Free Agency first. If we get just 4 new starters through FA and the draft (WR, CB, C, and either edge or DT), I would think the offseason would be a success.
I don't think it's a given Myers is gone. It's hard to find a competent center that has a good relationship with the QB. While Myers has his warts, I think he's a lot better than his X4 critics give him credit for.
Jaire I am less certain of...if nothing else, he's a raving loon. If they can find a willing buyer that will come close to their reasonable valuation for him, they will deal him...but again, finding a quality starting CB1 is very hard to do. I don't see them getting a straight up #1 pick for him either...best case it's maybe a 2nd or 3rd that can escalate to a #1 if certain metrics are met.
Would have no problem bringing Myers back. I would say Jaire is harder to replace. Yet he hasn't been available. The dreaded accountable and available is a big deal with him. He has gotten paid and looks like he is OK talking it but not walking it anymore.
Not sure what his trade value would be. The fantasy GM in me says if a trade has to be done. See if can trade for a WR or other position of need. Someone in the last year of their rookie deal or approaching FA in 2 years.
I like this WR out of Stanford
Center is the least important position on the OL. Just look at the Eagles - lost a HOF center last offseason when Kelce retired. What happened this season? Their OL blocked for a 2,000 yard rusher, second most rushing yards in the league, the tush push was just as effective, and the Eagles are the favorites to make the Super Bowl. There's a reason why centers are rarely drafted in the first round - the position just isn't that valuable.
You just need a serviceable center. You can't pay a center unless they are true difference maker and Meyers just isn't. Broncos had decisions to pay their centers in recent year - Matt Paradis in 2019 and Lloyd Cushenberry in 2023. Both went on to sign big contracts then disappeared into obscurity. Broncos OL was never worse b/c they let them walk.

I love Ayomanor. He fits the metrics GB seems to have, has solid deep speed, and can actually catch.

I disagree, at least somewhat. Cam Jurgens was drafted and developed to be the heir at Center behind Kelce and he's still very good. It also makes a difference if your center is responsible for line calls. With Rodgers it wasn't a big need, but there's more on the plate with Love and they do need to be in synch.
There's no way they should offer Myers big money, of course, and I'd much rather have a Flanny-quality guy there, sure, but if they feel stretched for resources to fill other positions and don't feel Monk or Glover are ready for starting jobs I could see him being back.
At WR, I'll take Jayden Higgins of Iowa State.
6' 4" 215 lbs.
3 full seasons, durable, great hands (only 2 drops in 2024), a field stretcher and red zone weapon.
I like me some Higgins, also. Two things working against Higgins being drafted by Gutekunst:
1. He's not likely going to run well enough.
2. He actually has very reliable hands. That's just not a trait Gutekunst looks for in receivers.
He kind of reminds me of Cedric Tillman coming out of Tennessee who went to the Browns.
Another wideout I like for the X position is Tre Harris, Mississippi. He has 3 seasons of good production, got dinged up a bit in 2024, but still managed 1,000 yards and 7 touchdowns.
How many of us would like to see Jack Sawyer in the 1st round? I would.
I get more serious about the draft after the combine. Until then it's anyone's guess. After, the picture becomes much clearer. In the meantime it's nice to read fodder but meaningless IMHO.
@Packmeister posted:How many of us would like to see Jack Sawyer in the 1st round? I would.
I'd prefer today's Tom Sawyer. Word is that he's a mean mean child.
@Packmeister posted:How many of us would like to see Jack Sawyer in the 1st round? I would.
He's a smaller Van Ness, so no. He has no bend/he's stiff and no real burst. He and Tuimoloau are kind of the same guy but I think JT has better power.
I know everybody on this board realizes that there is more to the draft than ht/wt/40 time and GB's chart. Case in point is Meyers /Humphrey. I know Meyers was bigger but Humprey was left handed and I have seen reports that 12 didn't like left handed snappers. This applies to every team and "fit". Also other things pop up remember Warren Sapp, Jalen Carter or Laremy Tunsil. A few guys will slip because of this. I'm seriously hoping a bendy edge rusher falls to GB's range or one of the top CB's only wants to play in the cold and snow .
Fuck that! Weâve drafted enough DBs and Edge rushers in the first two rounds and they do nothing but bust! Go get a WR1!
The issue is there may not be one worth the pick. This yearâs #1 is likely Tet McMillan from Arizona and had he come out last year, heâd probably have been #5, at best, behind Brian Thomas Jr. Heâs as likely to be Quentin Johnston as Drake London, and some team will bet on the latter, probably early.
Picking at #23 our odds of getting an immediate #1 WR are better via Free Agency.
The pickings there are pretty slim, as well. Right now itâs Tee Higgins, then it drops to Chris Godwin and Amari Cooper, then the bottom kind of falls out with Stephon Diggs, DeAndre Hopkins and Hollywood Brown.
It's early, more guys will be let go for cap reduction as they are presented with renegotiations of their contract. Guys like Adams and Kupp aren't going to be with their teams at their current contract.
