I bet even more money that even if we won the SB some people would still say Gutey and MLF suck.
Don't they?
I think it is foolish to go after Metcalf, for the price the article says Seattle is asking. I'm betting a guy like MVS is back in Green and Gold, before a transaction like this one becomes reality. Why would we give up any of our young WRs, plus a high draft pick, for Metcalf?
Maybe because none of our young WRs showed much promise last season and the last high draft pick Gute used on a WR turned out to be a guy who spends more time on the bench than he does on the fieldβ¦.and heβs going to miss most of next season.
The problem at the WR position is the specific type of WR we need; 1) With our run game he can't be a smaller guy. We can only have one and that is Reed 2) He has to have the speed to make safeties have to play deep and open up the middle of the field for everyone else. There are really only two WRs (assuming Metcalf is available) that we right now may have a chance at that fit that description. Metcalf and MVS. Obviously Metcalf has done it at a significantly higher level than MVS has, and that it is why it would take a heck of a lot to get him. Adams is about the only other option I see out there. Not a burner but can still win deep with technique. Like anything else it is about supply and demand, which leads to overpaying, which I think is likely.
I might be thinking of another Seattle WR. Hasn't Metcalf been injured a fair amount?
The Packers were able to calculate the 5th-year options for Walker and Wyatt yesterday.
Walker = $14.6M
Wyatt = $12.9M
The team has until May 2nd to exercise or decline.
As an owner, I recommend declining.

And they could be undefeated and win it all and some would gripe and complain they didn't shut everyone out by a score of 63-0.
I am probably in the minority but I would be ok if they traded Doubs to Seattle. The guy has had some injuries and IMHO Wicks has a better upside but that is probably just me.
Shadow, I looked it up and he missed I think 5 games last year and one game in 23 but that is about it. Of course because I said the he would immediately hurt his hammy if comes to GB.
Thanks for checking! Must be from the 5 games last year that I was concerned. Exchanging concussions for availability itself wouldn't be a bad trade.

Prepare to be (somewhat) disappointed.
I think they'll try to re-sign Walker to a new deal prior to that at a lower yearly number but multiple years.
With Wyatt, they may want to ride out another year before extending him. That's not a bad price if they think they may want to extend him.
Both of those salary cap number aren't that bad really and I do see them exercising both of those options. I really think Walker will get even better with Cooper next to him and I like McDuffie a little bit but if they upgrade from him their LB corps is going to be very good.
I want to see Gutey cook us up an Edge/CB/WR turducken on the draft day grill.

Reminds me of a story that Jim Valvano used to tell about when he got the NC State job and went to get a haircut. The barber asks him if he's the new basketball coach? He says he is , to which the barber replies "I hope you do better than ole Born did (Norm Sloan the previous coach)", Valvano replies "didn't his 1974 team go 30-1, win the ACC regular season, the ACC tournament, and the National Championship?"...the barber replies, "yeah , but think what Dean Smith could have done with that team"

I'll defer to the basketball coach that FLPACKER is, but I always thought Dean Smith was the most overrated coach in history. Great recruiter, but I always thought the quote that "Dean Smith was the only guy who could hold Michael Jordan under 20" was very accurate.
Funny, I spent my first 7 years coaching high school in NC. Before moving there I was a big UNC fan, but after living it, I became less of one and became involved with Duke's program. Although I respected Smith for his organization and system, he did a number of things that showed his "saintly" facade to have cracks. I saw none of that with K during my years (87-97) of being around the program.
88 and 13 with one championship while Mike was there seems fairly good to me.
The Metcalf talk us heating up.
Sources: #Packers are re-signing LB Isaiah McDuffie on a two-year, $8-million deal with upside to $9.5M.

Many in the social mediaverse loved to shit on IMC, but the dude was very, very reliable when healthy. Nice cap-friendly depth.

4 million a year is good value for what he provides.
Brings an attitude to the defense....not good in coverage but ballcarriers feel it when he tackles them.
Okay insurance/depth and special teams guy. You donβt want him starting but he can if/when needed.
BC guy, and played for Shorty Mc-Halfley there, I believe.
Per Adam Schefter:
The Packers and kicker Brandon McManus reached agreement today on a three-year, $15.3 million deal, including a $5 million signing bonus. The deal was negotiated by Drew and Jason Rosenhaus.

Green Bay avoids the kicker uncertainty of 2023 and early '24.
I'm having a moral dilemma here.
Drew and Jason Rosenhouse? Family business?
From the couch to the bank. Congratulations Brandon!
$5M is the going rate for kickers now? Jesus Christ.
Better to pay him than draft another bust.

Thereβs probably some analytics nerds out there saying the Pack paid too much. Those analytics nerds probably didnβt have to suffer from watching Anders Carlson and Braedon Narveson have a major factor in blowing some key games like we did.
Glad weβve got some stability at the position now.

$1M was at one point too much to pay Craig Hentrich too. And Darren Rizzi. At some point, someone will be willing to pay.
I'd rather overpay for someone who missed one FG, then the stupid game of fuck-fuck we've been playing with kickers since Crosby left.
