They only become a consistent Super Bowl contender if 2-3 of these young players emerge as true superstar/perennial All-Pro level players next year. And, specifically someone on defense.

If Jordan Love sustains the level of play from the second half of the 2023 season, he will be one of them. Watson, Doubs, and Reed are all possibilities as well.

Maybe a new scheme will change things, but the thing they lack on defense is a true superstar pass rusher or a playmaking DB. Gary is fine and they had to resign him, but he's been in the league 5 years and has never hit double digit sacks in a season (to be fair, he lost 2022 and part of 2023 to the ACL). But, usually the truly superstar level pass rushers are well into double digit sacks by their 2nd or 3rd year (the Watts, the Bosas, Crosby, K. Mack). Gary looks more like a J. Clowney type (good but not great) right now. Maybe Van Ness takes a leap next year? As good as he is, Alexander is never going to be a pick 6 kind of player. Stokes has 1 interception in 25 career games.

They have very good young depth. 5 deep at WR, 2 deep at TE. The OL looked very good by the end of the year with mostly ascending players. But they don't have the Favre/White/Butler or Woodson/Rodgers/Collins/CM3 type guys that will push you over the top. The Packers should have won titles or at least gotten to Super Bowls with Rodgers/Peppers/CM3 and Rodgers/Adams/healthy Aaron Jones/Z. Smith. They were often held back because of glaring weaknesses on special teams or in the defensive backfield that showed up during key playoff moments.

The Chiefs have Mahomes/Kelce/Chris Jones. The Niners have CMC/Bosa/Fred Warner/Samuel/Trent Williams. The Lions don't have the truly elite guys yet either. The Bills don't have that type of guy on defense.

The Packers (barring an injury to Love) are now a team that you can pencil in for a floor of 8-9 wins every year for the next few seasons. Cliff Christl used to write that that once you had good enough personnel to make sure you didn't have any glaring weaknesses that the difference between being good and winning titles was whether you had superstars. We'll see if the Packers have that.

Superstars allowed a team that fell behind by 3 scores at halftime in both their playoffs wins to win both of those games.  You can argue Savage allowed that to happen vs. GB but that's the point.  A difference maker makes those plays.

SF has all-pro's up and down their roster but we'll see if not having an elite QB keeps holding them back.  We've got the QB.  KC is a bit of an outlier because Mahomes is just that good.  Love is not Mahomes.

TBQH I don't like all the Super Bowl talk for this team.....they haven't done jack squat except torch the #2 seed this year.

They have to take the division first and foremost. THAT should be the goal initially

This is not the 1990s when teams slowly built up to become perennial contenders. KC got there in Mahomes 2nd year as a starter (not saying Love is as good as Mahomes).

And this is SF's 3rd Super Bowl Appearance in the last 11 years with 3 different QBs and with different coaches. Philly went twice in 6 years with different QBs and head coaches between 2017-2022.

Besides, The Packers have won plenty of NFC North titles this century without going anywhere in the playoffs.

Indeed, the Packers have been to, and won, exactly 1 Super Bowl this century -- after the 2010 season. The Chicago Bears won the NFC North in 2010, not the Green Bay Packers.

Of course it is easier getting to a Super Bowl if you win your division and it is even easier if you have he #1 seed, but the Packers have done both of those things while repeatedly flaming out in the playoffs.

But with the play of Jordan Love this past season, the great drafting the past two years, the firing of Barry coupled with what looks like a genuine commitment to playing aggressive defense instead of the passive crap we've all witnessed the past 13 years, and the relative weakness of the NFC, there is no reason the Packers should not be aiming for a Super Bowl appearance in 2024.

It is time.

Agreed.  Three huge and obvious keys for this team next year.  The first thing is staying healthy on offense and getting more big play ability on the field.

The second one is the dead horse we have beaten for what 12 year now? And that is a true commitment to playing hard nosed and aggressive defense.  Yes we have heard that how many times this last decade but I think this time there is an actual hope that they will actually do it.

The last one is that they need a solid draft this year and if they do free agency I think some veteran leadership around the team could really help.

If you look at the All Time Super Bowl Standings - the Packers have an incredible opportunity in front of them over the next few seasons

1 more SB victory pushes them into the top 3 and 2 more puts them at the very top of the All Time SB winners list at 6-1

GB is already the undeniable leader with 13  World Championships, securing a spot at the top of the All Time SB rankings too - is within reach.

I'll also note that the Packers (4) SB wins came against the 4 highest-ranked AFC teams in SB standings:

Pittsburgh, New England, Chiefs and Raiders

Go Packers

After free agency and the draft, I consider the upcoming 2024 Packersโ€™ roster to be the most complete one since 1996. (Not necessarily the most talented, but the most complete).

Barring injury, there just does not seem to be a glaring weakness heading into the season and that is a credit to Gutey & the FRONT OFFICE โ€” a FRONT OFFICE I have had no problem criticizing in the past.

Perhaps the lone source of lingering concern is at PK and at least it appears that Carlson is on a short leash.

Should be an exciting season with legitimate SB aspirations in my view.

I would hope that after signing Jordan Love to his big new deal the Pack keeps some $ in reserve to possibly add a difference maker (if necessary) during the season to potentially push the team over the top.

Go Pack Go.
