I dunno I get the injury but part of the preseason is the rehearsal I think about 3 games will be knocking rust off against real teams- there is an argument for using preseason to get revved up. Watched every team play the starters at least one series EXCEPT us - once again could be this smartest guy in the room shit backfires

I'd rather they be a little rusty over being injured.  Really it's more bottom of the roster stuff.

Speaking of the QB position….So far I have seen nothing that says β€˜ WOW’ we have our guy.  I know it is a small sample but I was hoping for a glimmer of the greatness we moved up to get.

I remember Aaron Rodgers first year attempts at playing QB in GB.  Not a good thing.  If you could have compared Love with Rodgers after their first Packer showing you would have taken Love.  But AR had 3 years to get his game together, and has grown into the role once he was the starter.  If Love is going to work out well in GB, I expect some of the same.  Meanwhile I like his initial start.

There are a lot of those types of guys over the years: Jay Cutler, Kirk Cousins, Aaron Brooks, Jameis Winston, post-Holmgren Favre (statistically worse than Culter), Garoppolo. They are more physically talented enough to succeed and their stats usually look good, but they make poor decisions under pressure.

The problem is that it's tough to evaluate that unless it's when it really means something. It's like the guy who is an 80% FT shooter and then tightens up in the clutch. Can a guy like Love learn to succeed under those circumstances or do you either have "it" or not?

The Cutler comparison strictly on the field was valid today.  Cutler did a lot of throwing off his back foot for INTs.  On both plays where Love threw the INT and almost threw another, he was way off balance and couldn't get enough arm strength on either throw, and frankly neither throw should have been attempted.

One thing that I believe Cutler had that I don't think Love has, was a sense of arrogance and entitlement.  Denver saw he had the physical tools, but he wouldn't listen to or respect his coaches and they shipped him off for some draft picks.  Cutler had 1 pretty good year with the Bears in 2010 being a good complement to a great defense, but other than that he was a bust there.

I don't get the feeling Love has that sense of entitlement, I believe he will take coaching and try to get better.  I'd say watching him this pre-season, I was slightly disappointed with him, but not hopelessly disappointed.  It sucks for him that we compare him to Favre in his prime and Rodgers today.  Both of those guys are regarded as being among the 10-15 greatest QBs to ever play in the NFL.  He can still become very good and not be at the level of those guys.
