@RobDemovsky: Mike McCarthy: Players are off Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. We will work Friday and Saturday.

@RobDemovsky: McCarthy on Suh: I was just made aware of it. That's an NFL matter. I gave my opinion last night.

@RobDemovsky: McCarthy on the schedule: We all understand Aaron is very important to our team, and the schedule is done with the best interest of our team.

@TyDunne: McCarthy: "You have to prepare for all three teams. ... We'll go right into a game-plan meeting Sunday night."

@TyDunne: McCarthy on the defense: "We've hit the target on using everybody."

@RobDemovsky: McCarthy on improved run D: "It's a combination of a lot of things. Players gelling, DL rotation, Clay at ILB, Barrington, Hawk."

@RobDemovsky: McCarthy suggested he's got some new wrinkles defensively for the playoffs.

@packers: McCarthy on #Packers QB Aaron Rodgers: He feels good. He always feels good. We have a good plan for his rehab this week.

thats coach speak. no reason to prep for the Panthers, who we saw a few weeks back. Spend all your time on Dallas, b/c thats who is coming to town

I was surprised to see that Peppers only had 33 snaps against the Lions.  I think that type of rest paid dividends with his timely inside rushes in the 4th quarter.  With Perry healing up, and Neal being effective, more of a OLB rotation will be beneficial for Peppers.

They really need to include Daniels in nickel/pass rush situations.  He's too good to keep on the bench.

These are two small tweaks that will benefit the D.

He knows that. He isn't going to give any team "bulletin board material" Hence the "We prepare for everybody" theme.

Never have been and never will.

The playoff game on the 11th was $138 a ticket. So $276 for 2 people. If the championship game is in Green Bay the tickets were over $200, the total invoice was something like $750. With food, hotels, gas etc. Probably $1500 bucks for a couple football games. Could buy a nice TV and sit at home.

From the JSO:

"...Since the bye at the midpoint of the season, the Packers have improved from 25th to 15th in the NFL in yards allowed per game, 17th to 10th in passing yards, 32nd to 23rd in rushing yards, 30th to 20th in rushing average, 30th to 18th in third-down efficiency and 19th to tied at 13th in points allowed."

If we look only at the 2nd half of the season, (post- bye) the Packers defense is:

8th in points allowed (2nd in differential to SEA)
5th in total yds allowed
8th in passing yds allowed
5th in rushing yds allowed
6th in rush Y/A

So the next person who tells me this is the same damn defense for three years running, you get a knuckle sandwich. And that's just the entree.

Lots of talk about defense.  Who is going to fix STs in the playoffs?  Those blocked kicks and horrible coverage units could unravel both defensive and offensive efforts against good playoff teams.

I think The Boot has failed when it comes Zook and Slocum.

They have a week and a half to figure something out. The blocked field goals is baffling. Someone needs to watch the film and figure out where the breakdown is. On kickoffs they need to just have Crosby kick it as hard as he can. Stop the directional crap. To me on the punts, lately it seems they are out running the punt.

Packers operate under the one boot-one arse methodology.

MM has to have one leg to stand on.

Zook was s'posed to be the extra boot, but he wears loafers

This.

The defense is getting fun and I'm looking forward to the Wizard schemes since it's time to let it all hang out.

ST . . . somebody needs a punch in the head.

What production did get from FA Julius Peppers? His +14.1 rush grade led team, per . What's more, his +2.5 cover grade was 3rd.

At 34 years young, Peppers tied 5th among all 3-4 OLBs with 11 QB hits, tied 7th with 31 hurries, tied 10th with 50 total pressures, per .

QB Aaron Rodgers finished season with +40.9 grade on . Higher mark than Tom Brady (+24.4) and Peyton Manning (+10.1) combined.

@ are 1st team in @ history to have 2 players w/ 1,200+ rec yards & 12+ rec TDs in same season (@, )

Slocum confirmed it was Quarless. Tretter blocked in like you are taught, inside. If Quarless blocks the inside guy (the one who blocked the kick) it is unlikely the outside guy (the one Quarless went after) gets to the kick.

Would love to have team firing on all cylinders.

Very happy with the D turnaround.   We can win a championship with our O and D

ST including our inconsistent punter need to get it going.

I love our Punt return possibilities with Cobb and Hyde

Would be nice if we had a threat on KR.    Hate to mortgage it...but it is the playoffs.   Maybe Cobb and or Hyde returning kicks also.

Hate to break it to ya'll, but we are going to see a lot of Hawk against Dallas.  I imagine priority #1 will be to stop Murray and I can't see DomDom trying to do that with a Nickel package.  It will be Hawk and Sam Bam on 1rst and 2nd most the time.

Maybe they should fake a FG once in a while. If Quarless leaks out on that side, it's probably an easy first down. It was 4th and 6 at the 34 and I thought it was dicey to try that long a kick in the cold. A miss gives it back to them at the 42. An incomplete pass actually gains you 8 yards relatively to a miss. Putting a fake on film at least 1-2 a year might keep the outside guys from getting too aggressive.

If that happens, Jason Witten may have 20 catches.
