I don't think the Packers are going to pay that salary one way or another. Yosh could be the surprise cut or the extra guy they keep one day trying to trade him.

Totally agree. They like Jones at the 4th and Rasheed is the swing tackle. Yosh has been passed by and is making 4.7, which makes him a tough sell if they know you're going to release him. If they do, it'll be a day 3 pick.

4th rounder works for me. Does it work for Gutey?

We need two teams bidding for him - let Gutey cook!

They paid Yosh like he was going to start because there were questions at both OT positions. $4.7 isn't ridiculous for a team that needs a swing OT that can step in and play. But in GB he was relegated to backup swing tackle and that's more of a minimum salary position.

Here are cuts not previously mentioned. All cuts are listed in the first post of this topic.

QB Alex McGough

RB Tyler Goodson

RB Patrick Taylor

WR Bo Melton

WR Grant DuBose

DL Antonio Moultrie

CB Elijah Hamilton

PUP:  CB Eric Stokes

I really like the job Tyler Goodson did in last years pre season.  He ran hard and fast.  I also understand you can't make the club sitting in the tub.  He was injured vs. the Bengals and never saw the field again.  I guess he could be brought back for the practice squad. I think he has more upside than Patrick Taylor.    All in all a good young team.

We’d probably get a 4th round compensatory pick for him after this seasons and they had a 2nd round tender on him earlier (which nobody bit on) so my guess is he’s worth a 3rd or an early 4th to the right team. I hear the Bills need OL help. Could be a good trade partner.

It’s not him. It’s DL Kenneth Odumegwu

I noticed he was released today, but can still be signed to the PS and retain that exemption (essentially a 17th player on PS).
He has to clear waivers, however.

Wow! Almost $59M in dead cap!

I hope that number shrinks considerably next year.

Certainly, but Bakh will certainly be either cut or traded which is going to be $20m in dead cap, but it will also save us $20m in cap space.

Maybe if they throw in Robert Ferguson.

Water under the bridge man. Fuck it.

Totally agree. Timmy was shocked at the dead cap number of $59M. Trading Rodgers was always going to mean the Pack eats salary. Necessary evil.

I don't even care what the dead cap number is. I'm excited to watch a breath of fresh air style of football 🏈. This is all MLF's show now.

I hope not. He's a guy I think you want to have around to see how he develops. He didn't get many chances, but he seems to be pretty accurate and after the USFL, he's a step ahead of most rookies.

I fear that he saw something in our joint practices that led to see something in McGaugh

The CAP is becoming almost meaningless with the void years and other creative accounting. The real factor is annual cash paid, and GB continues to be in a solid financial position to be able to compete.

After all the talk from national media if the Packers traded Rodgers I'm surprised the Packers still have $10 million in remaining cap.  Probably use most of it extending guys late is the season who have done well.

Injuries happen. Players come available just before trade deadline and also.....

Perhaps the QB plays very well and gets an extension. It happened for Rodgers in 2008.

History repeats itself??

Next season the Packers should be in great shape with the cap and able to keep this team together. Had they not dumped Rodgers it might have been the 70s and 80s again.

I wouldn't say the cap is meaningless when the Packers have $60 million less to spend this season than some teams. Managing the cap is every bit as important as what happens on the field. The Packers kicked the can down the road but got lucky the Jets took Rodgers. Now the Jets kicked the can down the road so see where they are in 3-4 years because there will be nobody to bail them out on Rodgers' contract.

There is a slight difference. Rodgers was in his contract year and Love already signed an extension through next season. Gary is the guy they have to be extending during the season.

Now tell me what it would be like if the Golden Boy Gute didn't offer that BS contract?

He had a plan, Rodgers fucked it up with his MVP seasons, and he didn't have the stones to follow through.  Thus, 50 million in dead cap a year later.   Even worse, the gamble didn't even lead to a playoff season.

Hint to the answer of the question....  Russel Wilson.
