Now tell me what it would be like if the Golden Boy Gute didn't offer that BS contract?

He had a plan, Rodgers fucked it up with his MVP seasons, and he didn't have the stones to follow through.  Thus, 50 million in dead cap a year later.   Even worse, the gamble didn't even lead to a playoff season.

Hint to the answer of the question....  Russel Wilson.

What makes you think Gute is responsible for handing out that contract or the reason he didn't follow through on his plan? He has a boss too. If he had his way Rodgers would be in Denver instead of Wilson.

I think he did a great job of getting what he got for Rodgers after he had a down season and everyone seeing Wilson flop.

Murphy is the one that almost cost the Packers bigtime. We're lucky the light switch finally came on when he saw the true Rodgers when he wouldn't communicate with the front office.

Well, we’re done with the guy. He helped the team to an Owl 13 years ago, and a lot of wins, but I think an actual team concept going forward can be just as fruitful. The team is going to be better than the national idiots think, although some are beginning to see a fraction of what we see.

Really only surprised by two moves after the cuts.  Keeping Wilson and Newsome.  Wilson because he has to learn how to block and keep Love from getting killed, but that speed...  Newsome because he flat out sucks and we could use the roster spot.  Feeling good about the team going forward overall.

This RB needing to be a great blocker is overrated. If the Packers even put Wilson the the game it will be to run the football. How often was Taylor even on the field to display his blocking ability? When people rave about a RBs blocking skills rather than his running skills it tells me something about that RB.

We hear all this talk, MLF even said in a presser that the position would come down to STs play and pass protection. Well, look at which RB made the team for a more clear explanation.

The Packers really don't have $10 mil in cap room. That figure from the posted chart does not include the cost of PS players who were not signed at the time that chart was made. The PS will absorb a fair amount of that remaining $10 mil.

Totally agree.  I just assumed Wilson would  be kept for that reason, but I was hoping they'd keep him because his potential is greater than Taylor's.  Home run speed at the RB position is something we're rarely ever had.

So it is just over $6 million. Full chart below.

On more than one play I observed Webster (Emanuel Lewis Wilson) with decent pass-protection. Also, he likely isn't getting in on too many plays, and then it could be in a RB jet formation or some such that leverages that speed.

3rd RB

851 players released from all teams and a total of 24 players claimed.

So it seems these teams know which players would be claimed and which players would not be claimed and that's the key when you release players down to 53.

As an aside, just re-watched Blazing Saddles..not only does it hold up well, it’s brilliantly done. So brilliant that today’s wuss society would ban it.

I have it on DVD. Watch every six months. Mel Brooks is a genius.

Tasty little tidbit here in case you didn't know.  Jonathan Owens, one of the 5 safeties to make it to the 53, is Simone Biles' husband.  Guess we have a new, famous Packers fan.  My wife pointed that out to me this morning.

I guess you missed this post from way back on May 5th.   You really need to be on X4 everyday, not just during the season.

I give up.  Who's Simone Biles?

San Jose, Calif. -- If there is an equivalent of a walk-off home run in gymnastics, it is Simone Biles competing last on floor.

Biles clinched a record eighth U.S. national all-around title Sunday with the most flawless performance she has given since returning to competitive gymnastics at U.S. Classic three weeks ago. "That was the best floor routine I've ever seen her do," her coach, Laurent Landi, said. As Biles struck the ending pose on a routine that earned her a sixth national floor title, the crowd erupted in a standing ovation that shook the SAP Center. It was as if the nearly 12,000 fans in attendance had been bottling two years of applause for the four-time Olympic gold medalist.

Unless you are in the last Olympics

Unless you are in the last Olympics

Ah, did you EVER hear of her saying she was NOT IN A GOOD PLACE THEN????  Please........she needed a break from being #1 ALL THE TIME, and being expected to win every damn event she was in.  WAY TO MUCH.   She’s in a perfect place now, married to a GREEN BAY PACKER, AND SHE’S kicking ass back in competition.
