Do what I do an pretend the UDFAs were drafted and the yucko players that were drafted went undrafted. For example:

R1: Perry

R2a: Worthy

R2b: Hayward

R4a: Daniels

R4b: Richardson

R5: Bostick

R7a: Barclay

R7b: Boykin

Also, Harris entered the league in 2011. So swap him out for Elmore.

I'm hoping Lattimore has his assignments figured out and can come through this year.  Our ILBs have to be in the bottom third of the league if it's Hawk and Jones.  Nothing against them, it's just reality.  I hope Lattimore wins the job over the rest of the camp.  He certainly brings intensity

I get the feeling the DL is going to be a work in progress.  The whole group is young and the depth gets real young real fast.  That doesn't tend to work out for the best in the NFL.

They could be solid but who knows how well Raji will play and if he is playing well for how long he'll keep it up.  He has a long history of inconsistency and we already know he doesn't get motivated for a contract after what he put in last year.  He needs to be the anchor against the run.    If he can't do it it's going to be imperative for the offense to build a lead and force the other team into a passing approach.

Man, this is pretty discouraging.

For some, Packer football is suffering

“If you don't get what you want, you suffer; if you get what you don't want, you suffer; even when you get exactly what you want, you still suffer because you can't hold on to it forever.”

Enjoy the journey gents, in the grand scheme of being an NFL fan or even a Packer fan -

it doesn't get much better than this....

I am among the fans that think this may be an extremely special season.  But, if the assessment is close to the mark, that tempers things.

I am not jumping off the ship or anything.

Where were we?  Shortly after my last post the site went down.  I figured it was Boris icing me down so I obliged.  I'm so considerate.

Let me retort.

The real crux of this issue is you fell down and got a boo boo.  So in response you go to the most formulaic response known to man on a freakin' fan BB.

So to sum up the first part of this conversation, you fell down, pouted and then feel like "If I can't play no one can!" followed by you ****ting your dress.

Did you know that some of the best coaches in sports never played the game at a high level?  Why is that?  Because they have a talent for gathering and implementing information and strategy unlike those that played the game.  You see where I'm driving here cogbot?

See, the beauty of it is I can make all the statements and opinions I want and likely will be wrong about some of them.  The difference is I don't poop myself when I'm wrong.

Don't get me wrong, it must of been pretty overwhelming with the amount of opinion failure on your part.  That's like a smow storm of stupid waiting to bury you.  Scary stuff.

Let's end it with this, tell me I'm wrong about my observations of the Oline, particularly Big Ern.

Lombardi was one of those whose playing days were limited to college - Fordham.  Lombardi was sensitive to the fact he was coaching pros, but never played as one.  Yet as we now know, he was one of the greatest coaches in NFL history.  Dan Divine was another - no matter what you thought of him.  Mike McCarthy never was more than a D3 TE.

And thank heavens for the observations of guys (and gals) on this forum.  I am analytical, and like to sift thru data and ideas.  I have been doing it for years and my job requires that trait.  I may not always agree with what is posted, but whatever is said gives me more information to consider.

On Brandon Bostick's injury:

Brandon Bostick has a lower leg injury. He'll be a couple weeks.

On DuJuan Harris' fumble:

It was a technical flaw. He was corrected. Regardless of the player, you can't fumble the football.

On running backs:

I felt very good about the way the team produced. I thought our tempo was excellent. I felt good about the running back group and how they progressed.

On second-team offensive line:

Once they settled down, they did a lot of good things. This is the first time we had a lot of mental errors in all of camp. I don't remember going this long before having to address a game whether it's a game or install. It was mostly with the young players.

On backup tackles:

The sky isn't falling. We have two more weeks. Derek Sherrod did a lot of good things. He had a couple plays you wish he could have back, but I think they're progressing fine.

Very interesting. Adam Schefter just reported that NFL is expected to increase size of practice squads from 8 to 10 players, effective end of this preseason.

More jobs. Can't hurt Packers either as TT has a good record in bringing folks on to the PS who eventually become contributors.

I suppose this could be some more owner-prep for trying to sell 18 game regular season, too. More replacement parts.

"Derek Sherrod did a lot of good things"

Must've been been something he did in the lockeroom cause he really sucked on Saturday night. Plodder was reaching and getting whooped on multiple occasions...... nearly got Tolzien killed.....made it almost impossible to run the offense.

never ceases to amaze...   one game decides everything about a player?

there ain't much instant gratification in rehab.  I believe that's why they call it a long road.  two more games and a whole season to go - I'll take my chances.

Who said that ?

I for one think a GM like Thompson, and a coach like Mc Carthy, are willing to give a guy a fair chance. Especially a D1 who suffered a significant injury.

btw, Sherrod stunk up the place on Saturday night. Did you see him ? It was really bad. Sure hope he can turn it around.

Well, the thing about that is he's one injury away from being the guy that protects the most important player on this franchise, and the best player in the league, in my biased opinion. That was a horrible performance, and rightfully should cause a lot of concern, I think.

Hopefully it was just a really bad night and nothing more. Packerboi made a great comment: "When you start to wonder what Marshall Newhouse is up to, you know you've got a problem." No kidding.

Yeah, he's not going to get any better after not getting one live rep for 2.5 years.  No way he struggles at all.  Relax.  He'll be fine.  Worst case he's the backup T at RT only and Bulaga slides over to LT.

Yeah, he looked like crap the other night.  The fact that MM didn't acknowledge that means he's going to be the backup T.  Let's not get caught up in all the honks' need to be first instead of right.  We'll see where he stands after two more games, as I expect he'll be getting a lot of reps in them.

Maybe I'm judging his performance against that of Tretter, a guy who's never played the position, but you can just tell that he's gonna be fine. Bakhtiari last year...he had some shaky moments, but I never got the impression that he was a disaster waiting to happen. I can't say the same about Sherrod after the Rams game.

Maybe this roster is so solid that I'm looking for one thing to nitpick. I hope that's the case.

I guess if Sherrod is just a poor man's Newhouse, then you cut him on final cuts.  Even so, Ted's way better off signing a replacement two weeks from now than he would be now.  I make that point to cut of the whole BUT TED SHOULD SIGN A GUY NOW TO DEVELOP HIM IN THE OFFENSE bullcrap that we all know is coming.

There are 90 guys on every roster in the NFL right now.  Between now and two weeks from now, more than 1,100 players are going to be cut.  You think there may be a tackle or two that Ted likes in that crop if he has to replace a stiff?

In the meantime, stick Sherrod out there and see how he responds.

I mentioned that earlier...pick up some journeyman lineman with some experience under his belt. I almost always would opt for the young guy with upside, but when we're talking about keeping Rodgers upright, the criteria changes.

Agreed, but the only stiffs who are available right now are guys that weren't even good enough to bring to camp for any team whatsoever.

Cross that bridge when it's time.  Meantime, Sherrod is way superior to any other prospect GB could bring in right now, so play him.  A lot.

Right. I get that right now, there aren't many better options to be had, if any. I was referring to final cutdown time to make a move, if there were any to be made.

Maybe Sherrod looks great next week, and we're all laughing about my fretting over last week's game. That would be nice.

It's hard to judge Sherrod without seeing all the snaps through camp.  The coaches have that and have a better idea of where he's at and where he's progressing. Friday he gets a chance to redeem himself and correct.

I still go back to the fact that before his leg injury he couldn't even push a terrible Newhouse for playing time.

Sherrod is just a guy at best.

I sure hope Ha Ha reverses TT's 1st round curse of the last several years.

If the organization had any real faith in Sherrod they likely would have exercised the option year. They'll stick with him this year and the choices are to hope for improvement and pray that neither tackle gets injured.  I remain skeptical of his ability and will go with the latter.

I don't think it has anything to do with faith. No GM in his right mind would guarantee $7 million to a player in that same situation.
