"So you want me to tackle guys after they cross the line of scrimmage?"  "You mean, like right away.  Maybe a 1 or 2 yard gain."

"No, you mean down field.  That doesn't seem right Dom."

"OK, if you say so.  If this is the only way your 6,000 page defensive playbook works."

@TomSilverstein

Hyde always starts out with the 1s at FS. Gotta think he's way ahead of HaHa. On cue he breaks up a deep ball to Nelson in single coverage.

@TomSilverstein
Banjo and HaHa running together at S with the. 2s.

@TomSilverstein
Hayward reads an out route perfectly but ball is thrown just outside his reach and is completed.

@TomSilverstein

Crowd gets excited when Abbrederis beats Tramon deep for a long completion from Flynn.

@TomSilverstein
Rodgers threads one to Bostick in a crowd. Pretty strong throw.

@TyDunne
Peppers moving around. Has rushed from the right side, left side and been looping inside. Team not concerned w Perry's inj it seems for now

@TyDunne

Players are ready for pads. Looked like Daniels brought Lacy to the ground for a tackle, and then Burnett tags Boykin deep center.

@TomSilverstein
Clinton-Dix with a nice close on Abbrederis in the flat. With pads could have really drilled him.

@TyDunne
Tolzien at QB this period. Zips a first down to Bostick for 10-15. Drill ends with a diving Jumal Rolle break-up. Signals "incomplete."

@TyDunne
Fairly breezy practice today. Packers into the final unit drills now. McCarthy speaks afterward.
Something tells me that Hyde isn't going to simply fade away.   Ha Ha has a lot of talent but with competition the cream is going to rise to the top.  For all we know maybe it's Burnett that becomes the odd man out.

Love the way Hayward is competing.   If he can stay healthy I think he's poised for a big year.  The guy simply makes plays even if he's not the biggest or strongest or fastest guy.

Micah Hyde = Football Player

Love the fact they don't just hand the starting job to Ha-Ha. No matter your draft position, you earn your roster spot on this team.

Burnett being "odd man out" would be beyond shocking. Some of you underestimate him.

Perry & Worthy on PUP to start year? Gotta stash some depth for later. The Nick Perry situation pisses me off. He's not working hard enough during the off-season.

Worthy with a back issue, gotta be careful there.

Tramon getting beat by Abracadabra?!?!? That's disappointing

@BrianCarriveau

MM on practice: Definitely practice will look different tomorrow. It will be longer. We started with a shorter workload.

@BrianCarriveau

MM on Monday practice: Looking for structure, tempo, the things we're trying to get out of each drill. That's normal.

@BrianCarriveau

MM on Datone Jones: He's stronger, looks explosive. When he came here last year, he had impactful moments. You're seeing more consistency.

@BrianCarriveau

MM on Jamari Lattimore: Had a stomach illness today.

@BrianCarriveau

MM on QBs: Matt is as steady as they go, and Scott (Tolzien) has a lot of those same characteristics.

@BrianCarriveau

MM on Tolzien: Reps have been pretty equal.

@BrianCarriveau

MM on snacks at practice: It's something that we have here at the cafeteria that they've added to the on-field.

@BrianCarriveau

MM on offensive line: When they line up and play 16 games together, that's a damn good offensive line. Availability is important.

@BrianCarriveau

MM on safeties: Morgan is just an outstanding pro. I look for his leadership to go up.

@BrianCarriveau

MM on Micah Hyde: He's a football player. You can line him up anywhere. ... He's a playmaker.

@BrianCarriveau

MM on Andrew Quarless: He missed a bunch of time in the offseason. He's getting his feet back under him.

@BrianCarriveau

That'll wrap it up for McCarthy.

If we take MM at his word, Perry and Neal are close.

Secondary of Williams, Hayward, Shields, Hyde, Burnett/Clinton-Dix is dream from heaven stuff. You can get diabolical up front with that talent behind you.

MM said Datone is stronger and more explosive this year. Will be interesting to see what he does in pads tomorrow.

Bostick seems to be getting the YOTTO nod.

I hope they can stay healthy. So far all the rooks are being told watch, listen, learn. As it should be.

Failed to mention this yesterday. It's impossible to look at Sherrod tower over the other O-lineman in OL drills and not want the kid to get all the way back. **** he's an imposing looking T.

Agree on Hyde.  Dude can play... GB looks to be loaded at DB this season.  The addition of Hayward to the defense excites me.

Burnett... Um, you know... I keep READING about how good he is, but I'm not seeing it.  His ****ty play last season got blamed on the idiots lining up next to him.  There's probably some truth to that but he doesn't deserve a free pass.  Dude is being paid to make plays.

Don't be disappointed in Tramon.. Abradumdum is a sneaky one.

Hayward is poised to have a hell of year as long as he stays healthy. He seems to have to come to camp with his hair on fire and a chip on his shoulder.

Ha Ha Dix I think will be just fine but there is no doubt Hyde isn't going to roll over and just let the kid start. He's going to have to beat him out. No easy task.

Datone will be one to watch. I think he feels he left a lot of his game on the field and seemed to be playing catch up. With a year under his belt and healthier and stronger, the game should slow down for him. If he can be a pass rushing threat anywhere close to Daniels and what Cullen Jenkins once was, this DL could be a pass rushing nightmare.

Burnett didn't pass the eyeball test at all last year.   We all know how weak and beat up the secondary was but that didn't stop Tramon and Shields and Hyde from making plays.  He was terrible and there's no more excuses this year.  If he doesn't step maybe the rook replaces him

Yesterday I watched the QBs take snaps. AR with Tretter, Flynn with Linsley....

AR would take the snap and simulate PA fakes and roll out. He would toss the ball back to Tretter who would catch them one handed. With his hand fully taped.

I spent several minutes trying to determine if this meant anything. Is he pretty athletic? Is he a TE if this C thing doesn't work out? Was it just day 1 of camp and it didn't mean anything? Could EDS catch a ball one handed?

I ended up up feeling pretty good that GB is in good shape if a ball gets deflected at the line and JC is close by.

And yet they signed Nelson to a ~$10M/year extension?

They're only excited because it's an ex-Badger.

The Genius(TM) played TE for his first two years at Cornell. He also was a star basketball player at Akron High, and played against one of my college buddies, who was no slouch himself.

It's cute that people want to think Drunky McLindsay has a chance at starting, but sooner or later, reality is going to rear itshead.

"Like Mike Tyson said, 'Everybody's got a plan until they get punched in the mouth.' So we're going to do a lotta mouth punch tomorrow & see how people respond." - Mike Daniels on practicing with pads

Fiery guy. This defense has been sorely lacking that. He needs to keep it under control though.

Colt Lyerla peeked his head into the #Packers locker room, saw the assembled media and turned back #veteranmove

edit:

Colt Lyerla update: he did return to the locker room and spoke to the media

Not sure I understand this post. Did Daniels say something about Perry that I missed?

Always good to have JC close by. #knowwhatimsayin?

Looking like Ha Ha may be headed to nickel back...which is fine by me if it means Hyde and Burnett are playing the best. He will get his reps though...you can never have too many good safeties.

If that team is going any where, Bridgewater has to perform. Cassel is horrible.

Johnny Carson, Jimmy Carter, James Caan?  All good choices.

@Boris. Daniels has spent the last 6 weeks on the media tour telling all he's ready to beat the **** out of team mates he feels aren't pulling their weight. Maybe it's Perry. Maybe it's Neal. I'm speculating because he's never mentioned names. He just keeps running his ****ing mouth about toughening up his team.

STFU and lead by your play!!!!!

He'd also be wise to remember the bulk of his team mates went through a season with 15 guys on the IR to win a ****ing Super Bowl without him.

And if he thinks a guy isn't working to his potential. Pull him aside and talk to him and tell him you need him. Don't talk like a badass to the media.
