I seem to have struck a nerve. Sorry about that. It just came up so often that I wondered why. Other places don't mention race when discussing a player.

So it wasn't some kind of "Micah Hyde is a racist" joke after all?

Yeah, I get pretty pissy.  So I should mention there's no particular venom towards yourself.

Point is this.  There have been a truckload of physically impressive, potential guys who have gone through this roster.  Janis is Jarrett Bush.  Not a bad guy to have on your team as ST, reserve guy.  Where the jokes come in is the constant harping of how Janis will "get it" or he's being "misused".  Janis is the Wisconsin version of Tim Tebow.

CJ laid it out perfectly.  Charles Johnson and Janis, pretty damn close to identical in skillsets and college experience.  So why does that become of race thing?  It's a condition called Great Whitey Hopeitis, another inbuilt condition people should look at getting treated.  You in particular may not suffer from this but all the endless harping in the comments sections and endless theories would prove there are many who have been stricken.

To be fair to the hopefuls, Janis had some impressive showings in preseason that Johnson didn't have.  But yeah, there is some great white hope involved in the fanatic following for sure.

Bill  Schroeder, Travis Jersey and even the great Kuhn got the treatment.   The rules seem to be if you're white and play a predominately black position, like WR or RB,  the fans love you.   Also, if you're white and slow and play FB or TE, the fans love you.

Can you imagine the love DikRod would get if he was pigment challenged?

I simply said 88 was going to be tres disruptive, especially with both great receivers and blockers on the field at the same time.  That combination is deadly with a RB that is equally dangerous running the ball as catching it.  Puts the D in a really tight spot.

Agreed.  I get all that.

Jason Sehorn disagrees.

If you're a white skill position guy and you have a long 'u' in how your name is pronounced, you're almost destined to be a fan favorite if you're halfway decent.  John Kuuuuuuuuuuuhn.  Mark Chuuuuuuuuuuuuumura. are examples.

Wasn't it Conte who bit hard on Cobb's jab step before heading to the EZ?

#47.  Yes, yes it was.  Or I guess he was just passing Cobb off to the deeper guy?  Hard to tell.

If you watch closely you can see Cobb put his hand up for AR to see Conte was passing Cobb off for the deeper guy that was supposed to be Conte.

Conte never bit on a jab step. Cobb saw Conte had no idea where he was supposed to be, put his hand up, and went full throttle right by him. Big reason why AR loves Cobb. Smart WR.

That will always be, to me, one of the single greatest Packer victories. Many Bears such as Forte and Cutler, played well that day. They gave us their best shot, and sXit the bed in their own house.

That win was great because it tore the stitches off the 2010 Title game before the wound was fully healed.

IIRC, Cobb saw Conte square up his hips to jump the route which is when he raised his hand to let Rodgers know he was going long, From the reports I heard in Chicago, Conte was purely freelancing. I also don't recall much love ever for Conte here except maybe from the transgender crowd but I am not close to them anymore.

The great white hope and affinity for white players is natural as people identify with people they see similarities to themselves.

I now have answers.

Thank-you.

I think we all forget that there was a day when all the players were white.  Linemen, skill positions - it didn't make any difference.  Slowly black players showed up and won positions on teams and performed well.  I now have a nephew that thinks if a player isn't black he isn't any good.  I think we need a little of Vince Lombardi - who didn't care what color or nationality the player was so long as he could play and follow his rules - in all of us.  So in that light, if it is Janis, RR, AR, VB, or whoever, if that guy can develop and help GB win a championship, he will have the adoration of Packer fans everywhere.  Doesn't make any difference what he looks like - except if your Ben Franklin .  Teams build legacies one player, one great season, and one championship at a time.

And AR and Cobb never connect on that poster if Kuhn doesn't chip Peppers.  So much went down on that one play.

AND I had the honor of watching that all happen in a sports bar in Santa Barbara with about 40 Bear fans, I was the only Packer fan there, and they were so excited when the play started, yelling "Blitz him!" and once Peppers got chipped and the camera pulled back to show Cobb all alone the silence was stunning. A dozen, experienced with Cutler's past, just immediately walked out in silence. I had no one to celebrate with, but the sullen, wordless pain of those who remained was stunningly satisfying.

He looks like Benjamin Franklin.  So now we have wise football players?  Maybe lightening does strike twice - if you get the reference.

This looks like John Malcovich playing AJ Hawk starring in a "Hair Club for Men" spot if "Hair Club for Men" were an NFL sponsor.

I have no idea what Conte was doing on that play, but whatever it was, Cobb saw it immediately. It looks to me like Conte was squared up on Cobb, and Randall knew he couldn't react (or would be too slow to react). He was raising his hand before he passed him.
I think this also blows the opinion of those who think Cobb is overpaid or hasn't "lived up to" his contract extension all to hell. That  shows a WR who studies, works hard, prepares and performs. A great example to the younger receivers on the team!

That was what over 3 years ago now.  Cobb's been dinged a lot since signing his last extension, which has visibly affected his performance.  But when he's healthy he can still dominate.  Don't know how much "health" he has left.

Conte was probably expecting Cobb to squat at the chains for a first down.  Which was as disastrous as his showing his hand to Cobb and biting on Cobb's dummy steps as he came off the line.  Cobb raised his hand right after his first 2-3 steps and saw Conte freeze.

Like other teams don't?  An UDFA needs to be careful whom he picks a fight with.  Packers will probably just blame it all on Johnathan Calvin and cut him.  No biggie.  If it were between 2 UDFAs, then the Packers could claim they forgot the rules and insist it won't happen again.  Both would probably stay.

But the article warns a loss of OTA's because of that. Also, remember when Jones leveled Janis in practice it was a no-no because of the CBA rules on no contact. If shown we have a "History" of contact in those practices GB could be penalized for that.
