Then again. When did they ever stop?

Spikes, Talib say Patriots file false injury reports

Belichick AP

Two former Patriots say the team put false information about them on official injury reports.

Brandon Spikes and Aqib Talib have both said since leaving New England in free agency that when they were on the Patriots last year, the team gave them injury designations that weren’t accurate. Spikes ended last season on injured reserve with a knee injury, and there were reports that Patriots coach Bill Belichick actually put Spikes on IR because Spikes had shown up late to practice. Spikes seemed to confirm that in an interview on WGR in Buffalo.

“I heard they put me on IR and stuff like that. That was just a false report,” Spikes said, via ESPN.com. “That’s just how things go there. Almost like what happened with Talib and his hip.”

Talib was on injury reports last season with hip injuries, but after signing with the Broncos he said he never had a hip injury.

“The Patriots have their way of reporting stuff, but I haven’t had a hip problem since Tampa,” Talib said. “The injury I had was actually a quad injury. It was reported as a hip injury, but that’s how they do things.”

That’s not how the NFL wants teams to do things. The league office may look into the possibility that the Patriots are playing fast and loose with injury reports.

I don't think the Patriots are the only ones. In fact, I'll bet all teams do this to some extent.

Green Bay does too, such as James Jones rib injury (never announced until after the season).

In this case, Belichick has a point. The ONLY reason the injury report exists is for gambling purposes. But, of course, the NFL doesn't support gambling. Right?? Right?!?!

Jonathan Franklin seemed to suggest he was not actually injured when the team put him on IR.

IR is just a place further back on the shelf, right behind practice squad. Heck, if I were a GM I'd use IR too if a guy was "injured" and who was almost good enough to make the 53 but not quite, and exposing him to the PS means someone would snatch him away. Franklin is a perfect example.

I would bet Boris's paycheck that ALL teams in the NFL cheat.  I am not a fan or defender of the Patriots but I think all teams cheat to certain degrees. All teams try to steal signs, I bet they all fudge the injury report, etc.  I bet our favorite team does it as well.

Well, Lookee here what thread we need to pull up again!

Patriots employee filming the Bengals sidelines yesterday

https://bleacherreport.com/articles/2866183

"But of course, it was for a TV show!"

Still, Dianna Russini of ESPN reported a Bengals employee was monitoring the cameraman during the game and claimed he was shooting the Bengals staff on the sidelines during the first quarter. "The cameraman asked if they could just delete the footage and it all be forgotten," sources told Russini.

Oh C'mon....every team is doing this!!

My response to that statement?

Then why has NO OTHER team been caught! I'll tell you why....because the other 31 teams have respect for the game.

There's a reason why the Patriots got royally screwed vs. K.C. Sunday Night. Expect to see that often. I'll bet the League has had quite enough of the Patriots cheating.

Of course Bill Belicheat is going to provide some lame ass excuse.  The question I have is why would anyone actually believe him?

This is an organization that actively engages in and promotes this type of behavior.   If this shit happened in the NCAA they vacate wins and can suffer harsh penalties like having scholarships removed.

The league should take a stand and say you know what?   Take away multiple draft picks this time and a institute a postseason ban.   Enough is enough.

Out in Oakland, it was reported that the Raiders had offices in a high rise that overlooked their football field. When visiting teams came in for a pregame practice, Al Davis's staff would have those practices filmed for the Raiders to prepare for that team.

I'm sure this tape will also be destroyed by the league before anyone else can look it at it, just like the tapes related to Spygate were ordered destroyed by Goodell ten years ago. Supposedly there wasn't anything really to see. I read some of the old articles and was surprised I didn't remember the Packers were the team that first caught them.

https://deadspin.com/bombshell...-cheaters-1729286402

The Patriots’ taping apparently went undetected until 2006, when Packers security caught cameraman Matt Estrella filming illegally. (He claimed he was merely taking scenic shots for “Kraft Productions.”) That offseason, the NFL warned the Patriots in writing. Before the next year’s opener the Jets set up a sting operation, with the assistance of team and NFL security, to catch the Patriots in the act.

FROM THE SAME ARTICLE

Inside a room accessible only to Belichick and a few others, they found a library of scouting material containing videotapes of opponents’ signals, with detailed notes matching signals to plays for many teams going back seven seasons. Among them were handwritten diagrams of the defensive signals of the Pittsburgh Steelers, including the notes used in the January 2002 AFC Championship Game won by the Patriots 24-17. Yet almost as quickly as the tapes and notes were found, they were destroyed, on Goodell’s orders: League executives stomped the tapes into pieces and shredded the papers inside a Gillette Stadium conference room.

This is almost exactly what they were caught doing in Cincinnati, but now they have the plausible deniability that these are "contract workers" and that they didn't "have any knowledge" of what they were actually filming. Of course, taking pictures of some backup QBs signaling calls in on the field is exactly what you'd expect to see in a documentary about advance scouts (a truly exciting topic related to staying in a lot of hotel rooms).

Know how many Super Bowls the Patriots won between 2006 (when the Packers caught them illegally filming) and 2013 - zero. They were still a great team, but they lost in the playoffs every  year. In 2007 when they probably still had notes on all the signals, they went 16-0 but lost on the helmet catch. Then they gradually morped into a team that had the same random luck as other teams. The last few years, they morped back into a team that always seems to be a step ahead of the other team and seems to "luck" out more than other teams - announcers and talking heads just attribute it to Belichick's brilliance. It may have just as much to do with the the fact that they've just figured out a different way to cheat.

If it's confirmed that this cock sucker is doing the same shit that led to them losing a 1st round pick, you got to ban him.   Keeping integrity requires that this guy is removed from the league.

They'll never ban him and the only thing that would make any difference is to bar them from the playoffs for a year or two. That's never happening.

They've already punished them with taking away a first round pick. The Patriots clearly think its worth the risk to continue doing this. At this point, is taking away the #30 pick in the draft any deterrent at all?

The Patriots already have a gigantic, legal advantage in that they save about 8-10 million in having a franchise QB with a 20-23 million dollar a year salary because his wife's net worth is approaching that of a typical NFL owner (Giselle Bundchen is estimated to be worth 400 millinon).

Hey.....if you're on the sidelines & stealing signals during live gameplay.....that's Gamesmanship. Doug Pedersen did it vs. The Bears when Favre was QB'ing -- that's fair game!

Video recording a practice of a future opponent? Flat out disrespectful of the game.

Fuck. The. Patriots & Belichick.

https://sports.yahoo.com/patri...nutes-165756729.html

8 minutes of sideline footage for 1st quarter.

Yes getting a jump on scripted plays, obviously.

Honest, it was an accident they recorded the sideline..... honest!

Also.....from the article....

LMFAO.....FOH!

So I've seen the video many times today... Apparently it's against the rules, but what exactly is gleaned from a video of the sidelines?  Personnel groupings?  Hand signals?  Strategic locations of the gatorade jugs?

Hand signals, down & distance & personnel groupings. It's cheating plain & simple. No other team in the league is doing this because it's against the rules. Period.

He's basically using technology to steal signals. No different than Houston Astros did.

Yeah the "Jeenyous" Coach knows exactly what play is coming when. Real tough to counter when you know what the opponents play is. I could be head coach if that was the case.

Fuck that team.  Take away their ability to play in the postseason.  Maybe then those idiots will learn to play by the rules.

Unless that douchebag owner is getting a quid pro quo handjob I mean paying for certain spa services rendered.

Goddamn some of these owners are as rogue and criminal as the players.

No need to tell me about Spygate.  November 19, 2006:  Patriots 35 - Packers 0. (Before they got caught.)

Over and over again during the game, my brother and I kept saying, "It's like they know what plays are coming!"  You could really see it from a bird's eye.  Patriot players would run to where the play was going before our players did.  It was obvious.

They're cheaters, face it.  They no longer get the benefit of the doubt.

How is that any different than the views I get of the sidelines at home from a regular football broadcast?  Seriously...

It's different because Rodgers is elite.

Lol..You don’t have an answer either do you? I’m literally watching the replay of the Packer game right now  There are repeated video shots of the entire sideline area on the broadcast. Players, coaches, hand signals and position groups all in there to be seen.

Your hero is average Bob. I know that stings. He can play much better though. Let’s hope he does.

I’m not coming to the defense of anybody or any organization. I don’t give a shit about the Patriots one way or the other. I’m simply wondering what is the big advantage gained from video of a sideline and merely pointed out that you can see all the sideline footage you want by watching a regular broadcast on TV.

So far, nobody has been able to respond to that question with anything other than “wow”, calling me stupid or referencing Putin.

I seriously don’t see this enormous competitive advantage that so many of you are wrapped around the axle about. Can anybody with superior intellect enlighten me?

Your answer, comrade, is that you don't learn a whole language from a brief sampling of a few words.  It requires a much larger sample to analyze and decode it, which they get with their films.  And again, clearly they are getting something out of it if they've been doing it for so many years despite the risks.

How long was the camera "fixed" on the sideline?

Was it a closed shot (small group of coaches/players) or a wide shot (15-20 yards of sideline)?

Not recognizing the difference of a TV shot versus an individual team's contracted shot weakens any arguments you have on football. Seriously...

Again.....

1) Hand signals

2) Down & Distance

3) Personnel groupings

Now, what's not on that "advanced scout" film is the All-22 which they can easily put together with the 3 items above.

Now Billy B knows what plays are called with those personnel groupings matching the play with the hand signals.

I don't think it can be much clearer. It's cheating & against the rules. Plain & Simple.

In my opinion, it's not what was gained from the video, but the fact that the rules were broken again.  It's an organizational mindset.  I would assume that BB didn't say to the guy, "hey, I need you to go and tape the sideline so we can gain information on the bengals."  But I'll bet somebody did.  The transcript of the "spy gate" violation and the "cover" that was to be used by the camera men if they were caught, is exactly the same as what happened this time.  Knowingly breaking the rules is the issue.

If true. This is the only honorable thing he ever did, imho.

If BB gets a corporate accountant to cook his salary cap books so he can get more free agents while hiding the cost from the NFL and takes more than one player per pick in the draft and exceeds the top number of players allowed in his 2021 training camp, we will know he is up to his old tricks again.

It is a little funny that Brady is in the playoffs while BB is home scheming how to tilt the field in his favor - yet again.

Someone told me Bill Cosby at one point was awarded the Medal of Freedom.  Everyone knows my views on BB and the Cheatriots.  Not much to see there?

Better believe that Miami and Buffalo are enjoying their demise.   Guess if Tommy Boy isn’t there and you aren’t stealing information or signs that team just isn’t very good?  Who would have guessed.

Referencing Satori's ESPN article; Matt Walsh - one of BBs video recording people - said that the video taping did not stop after his employment was terminated.  That would seem to backed up when Brady more recently was praising Aaron Rodgers saying words like that if he had information on defenses like he (Brady) had, Rodgers would be unstoppable.

I think it's comical that some of you think the Pats ship sailed and/or BB suddenly he isn't a great HC/GM.  They lost a HoF QB with really no viable options to replace him.  They had a couple of stout defenders opt out for the season.  And they still finished 7-9.  A lot of people thought BB would tank the season just to get a high pick. Assuming BB stays with NE (haven't heard he won't), they will be one of the better teams in football over the next few seasons assuming they can get a decent QB. And I'm fairly certain he'll build another great roster.

I think people are talking about them missing the playoffs.

It's 1 down year & TBH, I think this year may have been one of BB's best coaching jobs. He actually had to work for the wins instead of just knowing what plays were coming.

I'll be the first to admit when all those Pats players opted out, I thought for SURE BB was tanking for TrevLaw but then they signed Cam & I know Cam himself isn't going to tank. He had some highlight reel plays throughout the season.

I'm just glad they're not in the playoffs.

here's the quote from Brady

"If Aaron Rodgers had the Patriots' institutional knowledge on opposing defenses, he'd throw for 7,000 yards every year. He's so much more talented than me."

I'm no Pats/Belichik/Brady/Kraft fan, not in the least. But I'd wager that AR would have more than 1 SB ring if BB was his HC/GM during AR's career.

If BB would have been his Defensive Coordinator that would have been enough.

Bill is a great coach, a student of the game and an NFL historian par excellence

But he took the cheating wayyyy too far, for wayyyy too long. Once he realized that the league was too worried about tainting their image and gravy train to really punish him, he continued with impunity.

He learned that from Wall Street scumbag Ernie Adams. Ernie taught Bill how they simply ran a calculation of the SEC fine vs the ill gotten gains they could get from various shady moves - and so long as the numbers worked out - they'd do it. Bill made the same calculation - would he lose the actual Title or Trophy ...
or would the gutless league dock him some cash and a draft pick ?
How's that for analytics ?

That's why his accomplishments will always be tainted, ill gotten and unworthy of the over-the-top adulation bestowed upon him by legions of...stupid people.

Yep.  The reality is Belichek is a POS human but also an solid coach.  Brady walked onto a Tampa team with a shit ton of talent due to sucking ass for so many years.  I’d fucking hope he’d look half way decent.  Belichek needs to realign and build up the team again.  With that said, he’ll be dealing with a legit Buffalo team for the years to come.  I hope they kick the shit out him and Pats.
