They'll never ban him and the only thing that would make any difference is to bar them from the playoffs for a year or two. That's never happening.

They've already punished them with taking away a first round pick. The Patriots clearly think its worth the risk to continue doing this. At this point, is taking away the #30 pick in the draft any deterrent at all?

The Patriots already have a gigantic, legal advantage in that they save about 8-10 million in having a franchise QB with a 20-23 million dollar a year salary because his wife's net worth is approaching that of a typical NFL owner (Giselle Bundchen is estimated to be worth 400 millinon).

Hand signals, down & distance & personnel groupings. It's cheating plain & simple. No other team in the league is doing this because it's against the rules. Period.

He's basically using technology to steal signals. No different than Houston Astros did.

Yeah the "Jeenyous" Coach knows exactly what play is coming when. Real tough to counter when you know what the opponents play is. I could be head coach if that was the case.

No need to tell me about Spygate.  November 19, 2006:  Patriots 35 - Packers 0. (Before they got caught.)

Over and over again during the game, my brother and I kept saying, "It's like they know what plays are coming!"  You could really see it from a bird's eye.  Patriot players would run to where the play was going before our players did.  It was obvious.

They're cheaters, face it.  They no longer get the benefit of the doubt.

Your hero is average Bob. I know that stings. He can play much better though. Letโ€™s hope he does.

Iโ€™m not coming to the defense of anybody or any organization. I donโ€™t give a shit about the Patriots one way or the other. Iโ€™m simply wondering what is the big advantage gained from video of a sideline and merely pointed out that you can see all the sideline footage you want by watching a regular broadcast on TV.

So far, nobody has been able to respond to that question with anything other than โ€œwowโ€, calling me stupid or referencing Putin.

I seriously donโ€™t see this enormous competitive advantage that so many of you are wrapped around the axle about. Can anybody with superior intellect enlighten me?

Again.....

1) Hand signals

2) Down & Distance

3) Personnel groupings

Now, what's not on that "advanced scout" film is the All-22 which they can easily put together with the 3 items above.

Now Billy B knows what plays are called with those personnel groupings matching the play with the hand signals.

I don't think it can be much clearer. It's cheating & against the rules. Plain & Simple.

In my opinion, it's not what was gained from the video, but the fact that the rules were broken again.  It's an organizational mindset.  I would assume that BB didn't say to the guy, "hey, I need you to go and tape the sideline so we can gain information on the bengals."  But I'll bet somebody did.  The transcript of the "spy gate" violation and the "cover" that was to be used by the camera men if they were caught, is exactly the same as what happened this time.  Knowingly breaking the rules is the issue.
