Are we really going hipster yoga snob in here? How many hours do you spend practicing yoga? Does your old fashion yoga instructor charge over $40 and extend a 10 min task out to 30 mins to make you feel like a real man?
It's nice to see this article from 2002 still up on the Packer website.
FLPACKER posted:Maynard posted:He was also playing against college-level competition at that weight. A little different in the NFL.
Just looking at his movement, change of direction, quickness in and out of cuts, spin move, there is no way he is better at 250 pounds than at 230. Have you ever heard a skill position player say "I want to gain 20 pounds of fat, I think that will make me a better player"?
Ron Dayne.
He says his best playing weight was 270 pounds.* The Giants wanted him to play at about 250, but at that size he claimed that there was no gain for him is speed or quickness, but he had trouble running through tackles and he felt the pounding more when he took a hit. (Maybe it was simply that NFL players hit harder and that he really was quicker at 250 but that just balanced out the increase in speed and quickness between college and pros.)
* The Great Dayne didn't specify that it had to be all fat, (I'm assuming some hyperbole in your post).
"He says" may not be in agreement with what the Giants thought....or reality. People have a funny way of rationalizing their shortcomings.
From today's practice.

Get it together Mike.
He should put on a few pounds

If he can bring peace and tranquility to Packer fans at the end of each game I'm in.
That means a WIN each week - right?
And while I know that a win doesn't necessarily guarantee "peace and tranquility" I would think that would be part of it. That would also mean we are winning the SB this year. Maybe I put my order in for playoff tickets now.

What do we do with the beer, then?
Beer exits you. You only rent beer
Phat Eddie right on pace..
GREEN BAY, Wis. -- As season openers go, this year's was fairly typical for Eddie Lacy.
The Green Bay Packers' fourth-year running back carried 14 times for 61 yards in Sunday's win at Jacksonville.
Guess what his career averages are in season openers?
Try 14.8 carries for 56 yards.
.8 would generally mean a fumble occurred.
Gotta admit.
Going into this season, I really didn't see TT making an effort to re-sign Lacy.
And I realize we're talking 3 weeks, but watching him today at nearly 7 yards a carry as well as getting a respectable avg against an outstanding Vikings defense and through the heat at Jacksonville, it's becoming more and more apparent Phat Eddie is not just easily replaced.
That dude moves piles at will and is a ****ing load to bring down. He wore down the Lions D today and by late 3rd Q, they had little interest in tackling him.
I don't know what Lacy will want for a new deal, but Ted's interest has got to be peaked in the last 3 weeks. If he stays healthy and keeps the china food at a minimum, he's going to be a pain in the ass for defenses come December/January.
Speaking of, give that man a plate of
He earned it today.

mmmm China food. Now I am hungry!
To think I was going to make spaghetti tonight!
700!
LOL I know a dude who ran delivery for china food. By far and away, Sundays during NFL season is their busiest. NFL fans want their sweet n' sour chicken to soak up that beer.
Lot of big holes for Eddie today....north, south he is a load. Fat or thin.
Just give him Chicken with Vegetables. No rice.
Only way I would like Eddie back is at a significant discount. Ya just can't over react to what he does in a contract year after being told he was way too fat the year before.
I remarked in the ' +/-' thread that Eddie's conditioning is still a bit suspect. The series where he ran it 4 consecutive times, he was out of gas after the 3rd, and called for a blow after the 4th.
In the long run, I think that's the smartest way to use Lacy. I don't think I'd run him 4 times in a row, but 2 or 3 consecutive runs/plays, then sub in Starks. If he were to get 20 touches per game, that's an average of only 5 per quarter. That's totally doable.
You watch most running backs- they get pulled after 3-4 carries in a row. Lacy looks like he's in good condition now- still big, but can carry the load now.

I'll take the spaghetti
It's pretty simple. It's called a clause in his contract. If Lacy is over a certain weight on such & such a date, (E.G. August 31) he gets league minimum.
Pretty fair clause IMO. Or he can go to the Vikings & get over-paid & blow up to 300.
actually, my problem is that if he walks (i am in favor of re-signing him) - i can see him being a marshawn lynch type energizer type running back in seattle, how would we do tackling 27 ? I can't stomach that ... I still think we need to remember the days after 30 (ahman) was gone, when we couldn't make a 1st down, no way no how by rb position...
Sign him, he's a solid player.
They have current cap space over $8mm, and Peppers counts for over $10mm this season. The cap is going up again in 2017. No reason they can't keep Lacy.

Perry is a tougher decision than Lacy. I'd sign Lacy. Perry is playing like a monster. Other than Daniels he might be the best Packer player on D after three weeks. But can the guy stay healthy?
I'd hate to see him walk when he finally figured out how to play OLB.
was having the same thoughts yesterday. I'd wait till we're 8-10 games in and if Perry's still bringing it and healthy start talking extension at that time.
Especially with Peppers likely walking after the season and Clay seemingly more dinged up than he's ever been in his career. That's not to say Clay is injury prone, but it seems like injuries are taking a little more time to heal now that he's older. Elliot looks like a fine contributor, as does Fackrell, but Perry seems like he could take over a game. He's a dominant run defender. I'd sign Lacy first and see what happens with Perry. He might have a great season and price himself out of GB.
Not sure about he weight, but he certainly looks like his gut is not nearly as pronounced. Regardless of his weight, last year he looked like a QB wearing a flack vest. I did not see the long run yesterday, but his feet seem to be plenty nimble when they need to be.
Hard to not want to keep one of the most solid and consistent contributors especially if he keeps this up.
They also usually back load his season as far as carries goes. I'm not sure if that is due to the asthma or ?
P90X upped his cardio / stamina is my guess. He's always going to be a bigger guy.

Isn't he already a spokesman for Campbell's Chunky Soup?
The only way Lacy is a Packer next year is if an extension happens during the season. If he makes it to FA, he walks.
Yep. Get past every reason viewed as a red flag for not signing him you still have a RB that's never averaged less than 4 yards per carry and is averaging 5 yards per this year.
If he gets to FA he's long gone. That would be a shame.
