So, I hear a lot about how the Giants could be dangerous.   Given the 3-way stroll (I refuse to say "race" with these 3  clubs) for NFC East, who would we rather have inthe playoffs?   Giants, Redskins or Iggles?

This team might win a playoff game, but that's about it.  Something is wrong with the team, and it's not just the absence of Jordy Nelson.  I can't put my finger on it, but they have absolutely no consistency in any part of the offense, and it can't be the play calling either.  The defense has been pretty decent, but the are not good on offense.

STs in general have stabilized and are better than last year

Defense is better than last year -- get Shields back and the back end is as good as GB has had in many years

Offense is an enigma but Mike's got two more weeks to scrub off the rust -- if Rodgers picks up his game they can score on anybody and if they can revert to form and minimize turnovers they'll be a tough out for whoever they play

Lotta season left.

THE season is yet to be played.....a couple of big ifs in your post  Cuqui, since they have had the same basic issues for weeks they sadly are who they are at this point.

Never to late get it together tho.

I just have this odd feeling that Carolina will be the 2015 version of 2010 Atlanta. If we go play in the playoffs, we'll beat them. Not as handily as we did the Falcons, but I think we'll take them, if Seattle doesn't first.

And if as #3 seed we win in AZ in the playoffs, Seahawks would have to come to Lambeau. I'd like that. This time we play 60 minutes, and Jayrone Elliott will keep Wilson contained.

anyone know why Minnesota hasn't clinched a playoff spot yet?  In today's local paper, the NFL Standings show who clinched what....but, Minnesota sits at 9-5 and it didn't have the "x" by their name.   The worst they can be is 9-7 and the only team that can still end up at 9-7 is Atlanta....but the VikQueens win the Head-to-Head tie-breaker with the Falcons.

So, aren't the teams set for the NFC Playoffs?  Carolina, Arizona, Green Bay (NFC North), Washington (NFC East); and wilcards Seattle & Minnesota.

Or what am I missing?  Who else has a shot at the playoffs as the NFC wildcard besides Seattle and Minnesota?

Rooting guide for next week -

#1 - Packers

#2 - Eagles (Redskins win means the Giants have nothing to play for Sunday night)

#3 - Giants

#4 - Seahawks - this would ensure the Packers wouldn't play the Hawks in the WC round.

I have a shorter, more direct answer.

The Vikings Suck!

If the Vikings lose out and the Falcons win out, the Falcon beat the Vikings in a tie-breaker and get the 6th seed.  There's some other magic that has the happen, but that's step 1.

The Vikings play the Giants this weekend, that's why.

MIN-ATL-SEA could all end up 9-7, if that happens MIN loses out on the 3-way tie-breaker scenarios.

If Seattle ends up 9-7, I'm giving you full ownership of X4.

I am positive that the Vikings beat the Falcons this year.  Therefore, the Vikings would win the 9-7 tie-breaker with the Falcons.  I think someone said it earlier, that if Seattle ends up 9-7 (which I highly doubt), then the Falcons win in a 3-way tie-breaker....but never in a head-to-head.

No, not another nail.

If the Packers blow the division & end up at #5, they play the NFC Least winner with Seattle traveling to Minnesota.

No matter what happens, if the Packers win 1 playoff game or get #2 seed, they're playing Arizona in the playoffs. It's a virtual certainty.

All the Woodson tributes make me feel that our team lacks leadership to go on a decent Super Bowl run. Who is the person who has the respect of the entire team that can function as Sir Charles did during that run? Discuss among yourselves.

Peppers is the only guy I can think of.

What about Wilson for the other 58 minutes of game time?

If the Packers lose out and the Hawks win out (vs. St. Louis and vs. a Cardinals team that would have nothing to play for if the beat GB) , the Packers end up as the #6 seed and would play at Minnesota. If the Packers won as the #6 seed, they'd play at Carolina in Round 2.

Of course, if the Packers lose the last 2, it is very unlikely they'll turn it around for a playoff run.

The Hawks don't have anything to play for other than #5 or #6. AZ already clinched the division.

I'm going to go out on a limb & say they don't want to face Green Bay in round 1 of the playoffs.

I know Pete Carroll. They'll be playing the next 2 games like pre-season games.

If the Packers lose to the Cardinals, they'll beat Minnesota.

I'd be very surprised if the Packers end up at #6

Nice rundown of the Packers' situation, at packers.com:

GREEN BAY – Now that the Packers are in the playoffs, what’s left to determine is their seed in the NFC field.

Heading into the Week 16 showdown between the Packers (10-4) and Cardinals (12-2), there are four possible playoff seeds for Green Bay:

  • No. 2 – This would include a first-round bye, and the Packers can earn it by winning their last two games, and having Seattle beat Arizona in Week 17.
  • No. 3 – This would be the Packers’ seed if they win the NFC North but don’t catch the Cardinals. Green Bay would then play a home game on the first weekend of the postseason. There are two scenarios by which the Packers can take the division: A win over Arizona and a Vikings loss to the Giants in Week 16, or a win over Minnesota in Week 17, regardless of Week 16’s results.
  • No. 5 or 6 – The Packers would be a wild-card team if they don’t win the NFC North, and their seed would depend on their record compared to Seattle’s. The Seahawks are the other NFC wild-card team and would have to finish with a better record than the Packers to get the No. 5 seed, because if they’re tied, the Packers get the higher seed based on their head-to-head victory in Week 2.

Got all that? Good.

With that as background, the most important game in the picture other than Packers-Cardinals is New York (6-8) at Minnesota (9-5). It’s the night game on Sunday, so it’ll be played as the Packers are flying back from Arizona.

As mentioned, if the Packers beat the Cardinals, Green Bay would clinch the division if the Giants beat the Vikings, so be ready to pull for New York. If the Packers lose out west, they can’t get the No. 2 seed, and the Giants-Vikings game in turn has no bearing on the Packers’ playoff prospects because the NFC North title would be decided in Week 17.

That said, Saturday night’s Washington (7-7) at Philadelphia (6-8) game could play a role. In order to win the NFC East, the Giants need to win their final two games and have the Redskins lose their final two games. So, the Giants would be eliminated from playoff contention before they even play the Vikings if Washington wins on Saturday night.

Given that, root for the Eagles to beat the Redskins so the Giants are still playing for something on Sunday night.

Regarding the possible wild-card seeds should they eventually pertain to the Packers, the St. Louis (6-8) at Seattle (9-5) game has bearing. If the Packers lose their final two games, the Seahawks would take the No. 5 seed and drop the Packers to No. 6 by winning their final two, so cheer for a Rams upset. If that happens, the Packers can be no worse than the No. 5 seed.
