+ I think.  Am I reading this right?  We're in first place in the North by a half-game???

edit:  Oops.  On NFL.com, they updated the Bears and Lions but not us or the Vikes.  We're DOWN by a half-game.  Ah, well.  We still have the 2 first-place teams to play...so if we win out...!

-  We have to win out.

A tie is better than a loss

Iowacheese is happy after seeing Tolzien stink it up

Lacy

Matthews

Flynn

Defense played tough when things looked dire in the 4th and OT (I'm not going to get on them for allowing that FG in OT, they really picked up their game after totally stinking it up)

-

Still not a win

Offensive line

Penalties

Defense folded when Tolzien-led offense was making it look grim

Tolzien

McCarthy going for two early in the 4th quarter

Red zone offense on the last two FG drives

The season will all come down to next Thursday

Bears and Lions have six wins...Packers have five. So, no, you're not reading this right.

Positive: They didn't lose.
Negative: They didn't win.

Positive: Jordy's first catch
Negative: What happened to him after that?

Negative: They played the first three quarters like Tottenham.
Positive: At least they finished like Cardiff City.

Oh, and Pack-Man, I think once you get to the fourth quarter going for two is the right call, since you had to get it twice to tie.  If they had only been down by 15, you wait until the last TD to go for two.

I just didn't really like it. There was almost 12 minutes to go, plenty of time to go on two more scoring drives. If there were 5 minutes left, obviously you go for two, but not with over 11:40 to go.

Per MM "no idea" if Rodgers will be available Thursday. Said somewhat tongue in cheek will "keep it a secret" who starts on Thanksgiving.

It's either Flynn or Rodgers. MM had nothing pawsitive to say on Tolzien. Was asked what he liked about Tolziens performance, said NOTHING.

Like a fart in the wind, there went Tolziens chances of being this teams back up in 2014

I agree, but Lacy has played in less than ten games in his career.  He could be an all-timer if he can handle taking all the hits he takes.

Tolzien has a strong arm...give him a training camp under MM to see if he is the answer. I'm much less confident now than I was this time last week.

I just hope like hell the team can keep Flynn forever. I don't know what it is, but he just works well in this system.

If you're down 16 and go for it the first time and miss, you're still down a 7 and a 3 to tie.

Oh, and one more negative: 10wacheese will be orgasmic over Tolzien's failure.
At least for the positives Flynn didn't go to Iowa.

lynndickey...agreed this book hasn't been written yet, and who knows how it will all play out. I always saw Green as a very unique player, however. Not many players had the skillset that he did.

That's  taking nothing away from Lacy. Without him, this offense would be downright horrible in Rodgers' absence. He should win Offensive Rookie of the Year easily I would think.

Didn't say Lacy was better.  Ahman was the bomb and Brockington and Lane were pretty fierce too.  But Lacy's just carrying bodies out there, man.  He just doesn't give up on a play.

A tie is every bit as good as a win

10-5-1 is better than 10-6

----

Can we PLEASE put someone better than Newhouse at RT?!?!? My God, he's no better than I would be out there. There has to be SOMEBODY. Is Sherrod ok to play? or WTF?

Play Calling on offense AND defense is abysmal. Also....

Do we have ANY player that can tackle?

I'm done with this defense. Changes need to be made but I'm glad I'm not the one that has to make the decisions. My knee-jerk reactions would probably be bad for the organization.

The Vikings are a VERY bad football team. Does Rodgers really make THAT much of a difference?

++Flynn took command and brought them back

++Lacy was a beast today

++Boykin made some plays when they needed

++CMIII made his presence felt

--Hated the long return to Patterson at the beginning of the game

--Tackling was not very good and run defense in general was awful

--MM's in game decisions were questionable

--A tie is a tie is a tie and they wasted a golden opportunity to get a win today

Today was a must win scenario and not sure that's changed for this week against Detroit.   A win and they live to fight another day.  A loss and their chances to make the playoffs will fade quickly.

Positives

Flynn actually gave the offense some life

Lacy. Damn it's fun to watch him run

Boykin - continues to make some really great catches

Clay

Negatives

Tolzien

Newhouse - might be worse than Allen Barbre. Absolute junk

Run D - went from the D's ONLY real strength to complete crap in the span of a few weeks

Tackling

Red Zone offense - been an issue all season and hurt them big again today. Gotta finish that drive in OT

MM playcalling. Have not been too fond of it with Rodgers out. Doesn't seem like he's changing anything to accommodate the changes at QB

Capers - Blitzes are about as predictable as it gets

MD Jennings - the marshall newhouse of Safeties

positive:

Lacy

A tie is enough.  I base this on assuming the Packers must beat the Lions anyway and Rodgers must return the next week for the season to have had any kind of chance anyway.  The north then has a good chance of reducing to a Rodgers-led matchup against the Bears.

negative:

Special teams and defense not stepping up to the extent I would expect for a team knowing its QB is out.  An example was #31 missing the int.  (Yeah, the Packers were gifted by the Adrian Peterson fumble/facemasking non-call.)

It just causes me to exclaim, "You HAVE GOT to make that play!"

Your second point here ties into my feelings on the first. This defense is capable of playing well when they're healthy and they know they have Rodgers to bail them out. Once Tolzien started stinking it up after the early TD drive, the defense began to let up, and they were completely mailing it in until Flynn came in and gave them something to play for. When things are going badly for the team, they'll pack it in and play poorly, but when things are rolling, they have the ability to play well.

You're right about Brockington.  Many may forget or never have seen him, but Brockington carried bodies too.  In '71-'72 he was a beast:  http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=oB3mp7-EYW0

Vikings: 1st tie since 1978 (against Packers). Packers: 1st tie since 1987 (against Broncos)

Just four NFL games ended in ties since 1998 -- one each in 2002, 2008, 2012 and 2013.

5th OT tie game for in their 93 seasons

Just last year a team with a Tie, went to the Super Bowl!

The hypothesis that Rodgers makes this team a lot better on both sides if the ball, the sidelines, and the booth is 3 - 0 - 1.
