Time for the respected vets on this team to step up and kick some ass internally.

Sitton and Lang. JJ. Cobb, who's still a kid but drips character.

Peppers. Raji. Matthews who by example and sacrifice has shown there's a core of inspirational leadership there to be tapped. Do it, Clay. Show you've grown and can lead these men.

As for our quarterback? I'd lock his ass up in a room for several hours and make him watch a tape of the second half of the Ice Bowl on repeat so he would be reminded what true class and character in action is. Bart was beaten to a pulp yet willed that team to victory and immortality.

At the end of the day it's still about blocking and tackling and out working the SOBs on the other side of the ball.

**** the Vikings and whatever other flavor of the week teams are in your way.  It's you against the world, boys. "It is time."

NFC was right there on a silver platter and the Packers have collectively **** themselves

If (and it looks like a big if) the Packers can right this thing I agree the NFC could be there for the taking.  If they can get in the playoffs I don't worry that much about the Panthers (I still stand by my comment I don't think they great just good), Cardinals are tough but I think of them as I do the Panthers, NFC East? meh, and Atlanta is ok nothing special.

I could be seeing things through green and gold glasses but I just get this hunch that the Packers are going to play the spermheads in the playoffs.  *disclaimer* I am not drunk or hungover today.

They lost to the worst team in football which was playing two guys recently signed off the street at DB. It wasn't like the Lions played out of their minds, either. They were terrible yesterday as well.

The last thing they need to be worried about are the playoffs right now. Try not getting embarrassed in Minnesota. That would be a good start.

Crosby - epic choker.  When have you ever seen a kick missed that badly?  I don't think it hit the punter's hand.

Is it true that AR is 0-25 when trailing by last 14 points?  I heard that last week on Highly Questionable on ESPN.

Remember back in 2010, when the 4-3 Packers teetering on the edge of the season slipping away after 2 really bad losses and a game that Favre almost won at the end, went into NY to face the big bad 5-1 Jets and no one on the planet saw Green Bay winning?  Yet, they played a fundamentally sound game on both sides and won 9-0 which righted the ship for a bit before eventually winning the Super Bowl.

Yeah, that was pretty cool wasn't it.

I was skeptical of Abby, but he made more plays in yesterday's game than Justin Harrell did in his entire career. He's a Wes Welker type in that he has a knack for getting open. He's also a Wes Welker type in that I worry he'll have CTE in his 40s.

A shutout win on some FGs might be the only way we win if we continue at the current pace.

@RobDemovsky: Mike McCarthy: I would say David (Bakhtiari) avoided a serious injury. Don't have any medical updates, but the way he was moving around.

@Michael_Cohen13: McCarthy: "We're not playing to the standard we all believe in. As a coaching staff, we need to get our players playing at a higher level."

@RobDemovsky: McCarthy said fear of losing your job is healthy then chuckled. 'After Denver game, drove up to Lambeau and his [McCarthy's] pass wouldn't work.' [MM then said "Holy schnikes..."]

@RobDemovsky: McCarthy: I like Jeff Janis' development. Playing well on special teams. There's a lack of experience. Those times are coming on offense.

@RobDemovsky: MM: If Aaron is guilty of anything, he's trying to do too much. That's something you'd expect from your leader. We're all chasing the game.

@ByRyanWood: McCarthy said AR needs to "trust his fundamentals." What causes fundamentals to break down? "I think it's trust and trying to do too much."

Green Bay - The following is a summary of Packers coach Mike McCarthy's Monday press conference:

  • (On Bakhtiari) I would say he has avoided a serious injury. But no medical updates. Based on way he was moving around (he doesn't appear hurt seriously).
  • (On tape) The evaluation, offensively, as a whole, we put a lot of time into fundamentals, in teaching fundamentals and we feel that's the key. We're not playing to the standard we believe in. We as coaches have to get our players going better. As far as decisions on the field, we can help our players be better. The video was clear, we just left some big play opportunities on the field. We need to do a better job hitting those. We have to win one-on-one matchups and you can take that to all three phases. Coaching-wise, we're focused on playing higher level of fundamentals.
  • (On frustrating part) We go through every single play together and then we go through a long process. It's getting everyone on the same page. I don't have any really buzz word to make everyone jump up and down, but we need to be better with our fundamentals.
  • (On panic) I'll never panic. That's not the way you play the game, that's not the way you coach. I think to have a little fear to losing your job is healthy. To be honest, I came here after the loss to Denver and my card wouldn't swipe to open up the gate. I thought one loss and they fired me.
  • (On Vikings) They're disciplined. I think Mike does an excellent job of recognizing his team's strengths.
  • (On success late) We had a fast start against Lions. Our tempo was good. Our defense was good for three and a half quarters. I go back to fundalmentals. We've seen a similar defensive challenge each and every week, probably since San Diego. We need to do the little things.
  • (On Janis) I really like the development of Jeff Janis. His snaps aren't what he would like. He's playing well on special teams. There's a lack of experience. When something pops up he hasn't seen he has to learn from it. We’re asking him to do things he’s never done. I feel those times are coming on offense, too. Game-planning is part of it. Jeff is definitely an ascending player. We'll see what happens.
  • (On Rodgers) I think it's a great example, the quarterback position is the toughest in sports. Demands are extremely high. it's an 11-man game. Everything has to be in synch. From run game, pass protection, trust the protection, trust the routes. We're not as efficient. If Aaron is guilty of anything he's trying to do too much. On offense, we're chasing the game. You don't chase the game of football.
  • (On one-on-one battles) Really all the same.
  • (On why fundamentals breaking down) Trust and doing too much. Individuals having fundamental mistakes. Something happen over again, it's my position to change. Emphasizing things we do better is my emphasis. We need to hit hard this week.
  • (On run game) We have to trust the plan. I think our players need to trust the plan. We need more opportunities.
  • (On self-doubt) Two things talked to team is trust and confidence. You have to have trust in the man next to you. Our issue isn't people not doing enough. We're playing hard. It's the efficiency of our fundamentals. That was my message to the team.

Green Bay - The following is a summary of Packers defensive coordinator Dom Capers' Monday press conference:

  • (Opening statement) I thought our guys fought hard all day. We started fast. Three out of first four series were three-and-outs. We wound up with five three-and-outs. Stopping the run was a priority. Most encouraging thing was he gave up one big play. Unfortunately, it came in the fourth quarter. We had some missed tackles. I thought our cover guys did a nice job. We won a high-percentage of first downs, which gave us an opportunity to pressure more. The thing we have to improve is on crunch time, we had them third and 9, we pressured and had Stafford bottled up and he escaped and made a play. Then we had them third and 2 and that's when they made a big play. I think we had five tackles for losses and we had Ha Ha's interception. We have to continue to do the things we need to do to win on defense.
  • (On package with Datone Jones) Trying to utilize your personnel. We talked about increasing his reps. We'll have some packages where he plays inside and some outside. He had more reps.
  • (On stopping Peterson) All have to do is put on the tape that '28', you better have your chin strapped and play with good leverage. We've played Adrian Peterson enough to know what he can do.
  • (Calling the game when offense not scoring) I thought Detroit was committed to the run. They wanted to get some balance so Stafford didn't have to throw it every down and risk interceptions. It depends on their offense and how they play it.
  • (On Randall starting) It's going to depend on who we're going against, the types of match-ups. Randall almost had an interception. You've seen him continue to improve. You're trying to find ways to get your best players on the field. He did a good job.
  • (On sacks) If you aren't getting quarterback hits and pressures then you get concerned. I didn't feel that way coming out of the game. We were close. Stafford got rid of the ball. I felt better about that then last two weeks. We were able to get off the field on the third down. The sacks will come. I don't think that we're that far away.
  • (On staying on message) We believe in what we're doing. I think our players believe in what we're doing. You're going to hit some bumps in the road. Your ability to stay the course and evaluate what we can do better. But you just have to go back and find a way to be better. These plays come down to one or two plays. It takes a lot of discipline. You have to put blinders on and go back to work.
  • (On not doing too much) We know the challenge we have. It's a physical offense, They have a quarterback who can move. And they've increased their speed at wide receiver.
