Getting Morgan Burnett back sooner than later also significantly helps the run D. Not only is he a solid run stuffer but HHCD and other play much better as well.

He'd be great to have back this week if he can go..

The rain may have slowed KC a little, but I think GB's focus was taking those pass rushers out of the game. Rodger hit a lot of quick passes and sold the hard count as well as I've ever seen a QB do. He gave his Tackles that split second advantage that Tackles normally lose when pass rushers get a good jump on the snap. I have a hunch we will get a lot of free plays against STL...those guys, especially Donald, make their living getting a quick jump on the snap.

I agree completely.

I'm not as concerned as some about our OT play. I believe both Barclay and Bakhtiari will show up and block well on Sunday against the Rams. I would love to see a heavy run oriented game plan against them. Just let our guys tee off on them in run blocking and wear them down for the first 3 quarters. Cut Aaron loose on the passing game late, where he should have more time to work his magic. In the meantime, Aaron will be able to complete some throws, like few others.

We all love trashing LA and its fans for lots of reasons, but a move like that is unthinkable today for a team, regardless of how bad their stadium situation may be there. Making that move today would mean you're cutting the value of your franchise in half, overnight. If the NFL will allow it, the Rams are going to be playing in Los Angeles again next year.

Yeah, and I don't think the Rams are a mystery.  Very solid defense with a very questionable offense mostly thanks to not having one of the elite QB's.

I don't know anything about their o-line or receivers, but if both are decent, with Gurley, an elite QB, and that defense, they'd be right up there.

But, they don't!

The Rams the past couple of years are a strange team.  They split with the Hags the past couple of years, when the Hags were the cream of the NFCW.  It seems like they play better against divisional opponents, look at yesterday against AZ in AZ.

Fisher is a good coach, and has a formula for winning.  It seems like he getting closer to having all the pieces.  Stud RB, (Eddie George, Gurley (I know its early)).  Good D, big time DL in the Lou.  And then good QB (McNair was a great), Foles, its early, but doesn't look to be in that category.  Formula is shorten the game with your RB, and have a great D.  Allow your Qb to make a few plays a game to W.

I don't think that will happen this week, but the OL, will need to step up.

Fans HATED Georgia and the accountant she had running the team into the ground, believe his name was Shaw, so they were voting with their dollars. She's a fool, and the current owner is gonna bring them back. He has enough money to build his own stadium. Smart man. Lots of residual Ram fans in LA would support them if they come back.

LA would do a decent job supporting one team, particularly if that team is the Rams or Raiders. Having two teams in that market again would be a fatal mistake by the NFL. Pete Rozelle knew that having two teams in LA was going to do more harm than good, which is why he worked so hard to stop Al Davis from moving there. He was proven correct, obviously, since the market wound up with zero teams in the end. Since the people running the NFL today are incredibly greedy megalomaniacs, all indicators are showing that they're probably going to do the dumb thing and try for two teams. Their revenues have multiplied significantly over the past 20 years, so of course they're full of themselves now. They're at the point where they think they can walk on water.

Two teams in LA are coming soon, and then a team in London is next on their agenda.

A quarter of the way through the season and the Packers have one, count it, one turnover.

The NFL record for a season is 12 (KC in 1982).

This is remarkable.

Thought Lacy and Starks each had one fumble.

Wait, wait wait.

You're trying to tell me that decent OL, decent WRs, a stud RB, an elite QB, and a great defense is a recipe that leads to "being right up there"?

What is this ****ery you're trying to sell here man?  Take that snake oil, and GTFO.

MM Monday presser, just concluded:

Green Bay - The following is a summary of Packers coach Mike McCarthy's Monday press conference:

  • (On injuries) Still working through it. We'll have a report on Wednesday.
  • (On 4-0) I think everybody that prepares for a season wants a fast start. We haven't done in the past. Was our emphasis. Give ton of credit to our players. Hit our targets and overcame some adversity, went to SF, short week, weather, injury situation and were able to get a good quality win.
  • (On defense) We believe in stacking success and with that success comes confidence. Best defensive performance of year. Whole different opponent this week with St. Louis Rams and how they'll threaten us. Four wins and getting better each and every week.
  • (On run defense and sacks) Down and distance. Ability to stop the run sets up playing the pass. Stopping the run is A number 1.
  • (On sacks) Puts us in a situation where we have number of guys who can rush the passer.
  • (On Perry) Nick playing really good football. Like the rotation with our front group.
  • (On James Jones) When I look at James Jones production, he's picked up where he's left off. He had a huge year. I look at James as jumping back in the groove with Aaron. Way our receiver group built, he's getting a lot of opportunities.
  • (On adjusting without Nelson) We said back when got back from Pittsburgh no replacing Jordy Nelson. Important for our WR group not to look at it that way. Look at the opportunities that are there. Cae with Montgomery and Cobb has had some big games. All about opportunities.
  • (On deep passing game) First play of game, so there's game plan. That was by design to take that shot. The action was excellent and have that much room was credit to design. Good throw and tough catch. I think ranked in second plus 25 yards gains. We know how to create  bigs.
  • (On big gains from WRs) It's four games. I think anytime you get four games on a team you get a little more information on that.
  • (On Joe Philbin) Personally, I'm extremely disappointed. As we all know, Joe is a man of high character and outstanding football coach. I'll leave it at that.
  • (On bringing him back) It's Week 5. If Joe Philbin wants to coach he'll coach in the league again.
  • (On looking forward) We know we have to grow from the first quarter of the season.
  • (On Montgomery versatility) Ty Montgomery is a four-down football player. Always liked that about him. I think he comes with really good things at WR.
  • (On Matthews' growth) Clay has always been a playmaker. More move him around, more plays he'll make. He's also a good teammate. Football is a matchup game. Gives us an excellent.
  • (On if he's hoping Bulaga can do some football work this week) I know Bryan feels he's getting stronger. We'll make a decision on Wednesday (whether he'll try to practice).

Green Bay - The following is a summary of defensive coordinator Dom Capers' Monday press conference:

  • (Opening statement) I liked our play style. I thought we set the tone. Big difference between Monday night and Sunday was red-zone defense. Wanted to stop Hyde going in. Did that, especially early. Teams will get discouraged if they don't have success early. He only carried 8 times. We won a high percentage of downs on first down. Thought we played a smart game. No defensive penalties. Not many mental errors. Biggest difference was we had dominant game against KC and then they had over 200 yards on last three series. I liked Sunday how we finished. We'll have to do that against the Rams.
  • (On success) I've always felt with the young guys we have if our guys stay tuned in we'd get better. Consistency is a big factor. More consistent yesterday. Week before played three quarters. I'm encouraged because we have a variety of guys playing. Upfront nice to have Letroy Guion. Gave us a nice rotation. It was hot and I thought our guys did a nice job. Rotating players was a big factor. I think Clay was effective inside and outside. Did a nice job on the zone read stuff.
  • (On pass rush) It starts with how you play the run. If you can play the run well, you get in more predictable situations. We can have some disruption in those situations. We did it with four-man, five-man and six.
  • (On what's next) Consistency. This team coming in is talented. Gurley is very talented and Austin is dynamic with ball in his hands. We've faced some really good running backs. This guy as big and fast.
  • (On others getting sacks than Matthews) Moving inside has given others more opportunities. More you plays, the better you get. Last couple of games, been able to work Clay in there. We like that combination. Saw Clay get a sack from inside. Had another he missed. Kaepernick is not easy to sack.
  • (On OLB sacks) Our defense always look for production from outside guys. I think we're getting good work. Mike Daniels is very good in rush. You've seen Clay up there in the inside.
  • (On run defense) Little more continuity. We lose Sam early in that game and Nate, first time he's played ILB. You have some new guys upfront there. We know what Forte is all about. They broke some runs on us. I think our guys went to work to tighten things down.
  • (On effect of Matthews move) I always felt like Pro Bowl at inside or outside. To do both adds a lot of flexibility to the defense. Our job is to go out and figure how we're going to win a game. First quarter, Morgan missed a couple of games, Richardson filled in, Banjo has helped.
  • (On why Matthews move has paid off) Goal is to get best 11 players on the field. We had more depth at outside linebackr than inside. So how do you get your best players on the field. Now you have Mike Neal and Nick Perry and you've seen Jayrone Elliott. All those guys gave us good production. Pass rush you might get a few from scheme, but you have to win one-on-one.
  • (On tackling) I thought our tackling was good. I think we've made some strides. That's a week to week thing. Some guys a lot different than others. I was concerned about Hyde. We felt would have to get multiple hits on him.
  • (On personal satisfaction beating 49ers) You can't get caught up in what has happened in the past. So many variables. All your energy is focused on what you have to do each week. I was happy our players focused on that. Stopping Hyde, disrupting Kaepernick were priorities. WE wanted to play well in situations and I thought our red-zone defense was a lot better. Always like a game we come out and don't have a penalty that hurts. We made them earn what they got. The one thing is they did have a couple of big plays on us.

Green Bay - The following is a summary of offensive coordinator Edgar Bennett's comments at his Monday press conference:

  • (On Montgomery drop) You just have to move onto the next play.
  • (On if it would have changed for him to make that play) Goal is to make every play. But he didn't dwell on it. Kid has made some plays. He ran the ball for us. He's done some productive things with us.
  • (On Montgomery in bckfield) Extremely versatile. We knew that when we drafted him. This game is about matchups. Anytime player of that caliber and can put him in those situations and have success is important.
  • (On 49ers defense) We have to execute better than we did. Not so much our focus on our opponent. What can we do to improve. I think all of our players understand.
  • (On stretching field) You watch game, they played a lot of two-shell and then see them play one-high. If opportunity shows, have to make the most of it.
  • (On not having Nelson) We feel like we still have that guy. Difficult replacing Jordy. We feel we have guys who can get that done. Our tempo and play style, they play us a certain way and we have to execute against it.
  • (On James Jones) Chemistry he has with Aaron, complete understanding of what we're trying to do helps. He attacks the football. Comes down to make the most of the opportunities.
  • (On No. 3 rushing offense [Poster's note: Wow! That, with 12! ].  That's outstanding. Aaron puts our offense in position to make plays. Our guys understand importance of running game.
  • (On Rodgers hits) Goal is to protect the football and protect our QB. From fundamental standpoint can continue to improve.
  • (On Abbrederis) He's been consistent in practice. Starting point is in classroom and then practice field. He's gotten better and better. Two fantastic weeks of practice. It was pretty close (to getting him in there). He'll have opportunities in the future.

Everybody knows championships are all about the punter.

Using Boris' approach, I have Gurley in one of my FF leagues.  I'm starting him this week.  That should be enough to doom him.  I predict out for the season. (not that I'm wishing that it happens)

It worked for me! I started Jimmy Graham and Travis Kelce in back to back weeks against GB, thinking those guys would be their only offense, and GB stifled both! I should hurry and add Foles and Gutley!

Hehe...like the nickname.

His teammates call him Shakespeare because he makes so many plays.

Packers Today host Lauren Magiera takes a closer look at Jayrone Elliott's unique path to the NFL and his strong start to the 2015 season.

This is pretty significant.  Hopefully the packers can exploit his replacement.

Nice to have him back..

The Packers have re-signed DL Bruce Gaston to the practice squad, per a source. He was released from the roster Saturday when WR Jared Abbrederis was promoted.
