What, is Fisher gonna blow that air horn on the sidelines at Lambeau?

Bunch of ****ing propaganda. Every opponent for the past couple of seasons has known that 12 is the best in the biz at the hard count. Still seems to work. Hard to undo a decade-plus of DL training.

Its fine with with me if Fisher's horn keeps Donald and Quinn in their stance for an extra half second.

I don't think so.

If they really want to practice jumping at the sound of a voice they should call my exwife...ugh

Green Bay — The following is a summary of Packers coach Mike McCarthy's pre-practice press conference Thursday:

  • (On Bryan Bulaga) Bryan Bulaga went through practice smoothly. Today will be a padded practice, so it will be good for Bryan.
  • (On communication in the secondary) I think the communication has been one of the strengths for our defense this season, from Dom (Capers) all the way through to our players. ... I think our defense has communicated very well through the first four games.
  • (On Todd Gurley) I think the biggest thing, particularly with ball carriers or quarterbacks, you pay attention to style. We have an idea of his running style. ... You have a big, strong, instinctive runner like Gurley. He will be a big challenge for us.
  • (On Morgan Burnett) Every injury is different. The progression of his rehab is definitely increasing more and more. Until he gets to the point where the training staff puts him on the field for a full practice, that's really when I have hopes for the player to play. That being said, the players are different, the injuries are different and that's why we've always gone with the thought of giving them a full week to give it a shot.
  • (On veterans playing without practicing) I think a lot of that is based on experience and so forth. Definitely history plays into that. ... That all comes down to the relationship between Morgan and the training staff and myself.
  • (On the start to this season compared to 2011) I don't remember. Every season is different. Every game is different. We got off to a fast start, which is obviously the focus every year. But I think it's more important how we play in games. ... You have to find a way to win games early.
  • (On B.J. Raji) Frankly, just being healthy. He's in the best shape of his career. He's always been a smart and instinctive football player. ... His yoga has really helped. I always get a kick out of him stretching out there during timeouts. It just doesn't look right out there. He's healthy. He's in the best shape of his career.
  • (On Aaron Rodgers improving) I think it's the case of a great player raising to a level. Great players make players around them better. I think that's a huge, huge compliment to Aaron, just the time he spends with other players. ... The things you never read about or will ever read about. Aaron has never been fined for being late to a workout. He does everything right. ... I would say that's the difference between today and four or five years ago.
  • (On Rodgers being more personable) That's probably more of a question for the locker room. Frankly, him and I used to spend a lot of time together. But life changes. Our Thursday meetings, they could go for a very long time. To answer your question, that's probably based on the relationships he has in the locker room. And I have been with him.
  • (On Jeff Fisher's longevity) You talk about building a program, Jeff emulates that to the highest. The fact that he can go into Tennessee. I had an opportunity to interview with Jeff in Tennessee in 1999, and I also interviewed in Green Bay, and I just marveled. ... I left there with a very strong impression. Jeff picked me up at the airport. He spent the whole day with me. Just really impressed with him. I remember telling my father when I got back, I said, "Dad, you always talk about trusting your gut, and I think if Jeff offers me the job I have to go to Tennessee."
  • (On the gunners on special teams) I think you've seen Jeff Janis, Quinten Rollins really stepping up out there. Hopefully we will get Demetri Goodson back.

Excerpts from MM presser, above:

  • (On Aaron Rodgers improving) ... Great players make players around them better. I think that's a huge, huge compliment to Aaron, just the time he spends with other players. ... The things you never read about or will ever read about... He does everything right ...

Wish he'd spend some quality time with Janis! Seriously, 12 gives him the needle nearly every chance he can, did it again by inference yesterday in his press availability (watch the first two minutes, here:  http://m.packers.com/news/vide...da-8e18-03a31b9f0267  .

I really don't get this, especially in public too. JMO. I said a while back that Rodgers needed to put his arm around 83 and try to boost his confidence rather than slam him continually. Small town, small school kid with a boatload of potential. Build him up, not tear him down, for crying out loud.

Well he emphasized that he can forgive physical mistakes (like Monty's drops), but mental mistakes drive him crazy. My guess would Janis is still making mental mistakes, that's not something that is on Rodgers to help him fix. He has to grow up quick.  If anything Jordy and Cobb need to be working with him to build him up, show him the ropes. Janis may take more time to get it together or he may never be a good receiver, but at least he's contributing on STs right now.

yes and no cuqui

MM and Rodgers are intolerant of mental mistakes. It was something they talked about in the offseason and the vets asked this in their exit interviews:

"Why do we dumb down the offensive coaching to the weakest link instead of teaching to the vets and forcing the young guys to step up and keep up ?"

Janis isn't doing it the right way, he isn't mentally prepared. Packers and Rodgers may have tried the build- him- up route with no change in effort- so they are using a different strategy. He's had two years and he's still lining up incorrectly- that's totally unacceptable. He's been given every chance and right now the Packers need him to be a deep threat. Instead they are throwing it to Monty who really isn't a boundary WR

These guys are pro's playing at an elite level and Janis can either get his head out of his ass or find joy in playing in STs. Rodgers is ripping him, not because he came from a small school or because he needs help. Rodgers is ripping him because he isn't putting in the time and effort to be a Pro. He isn't doing all the little things that pro's do to get better

Coddling period is over, time to put on the big boy pants or become a viking

From today's practice:

@WesHod: Bryan Bulaga practicing in pads. No Adams, Burnett or Ryan, who rode bikes

@Michael_Cohen13: James Jones, who was limited yesterday, was on the field Thursday with no pads on his lower body. He's dealing with a hamstring problem.

@Michael_Cohen13: James Jones said he will be playing Sunday. No matter what.

@WesHod: Clay Matthews was limited today with a quad injury. Was on the injury report as a full participant Wednesday.

@WesHod: Sean Richardson was only new addition to injury report with a neck (limited).

@Michael_Cohen13: James Jones, Demetri Goodson, Randall Cobb and Bryan Bulaga remained limited participants.

@WesHod: Andrew Quarless confirmed his sprained MCL today. Nervous it might be ACL at first, so diagnosis was a sigh of relief.

Wow, Richardson having a neck injury is scary!

Packers are on a precipice with injuries overall.

Lacy, Cobb, and probably Daktari have been gutting it out, and JJ is apparently going to do the same.

Adams, Goodson, and Burnett may/may not be able to go.

Who knows what's going on with Clay and Richardson? Same for Elliott.

The point is if any of the above can't go or are limited, and/or new injuries occur, we could all of a sudden be up the creek. We're way thin at WR and OT. We can compensate somewhat on defense with depth presently, and our bye is in a couple of weeks. If they can just hang on.....

I am sick and tired of Janis and his bull****

You are damn lucky to be on this team.  Instead of taking full advantage of the opportunity you ate acting lazy and those habits might work in Detroit but not GB

This ain't DII loser - get your **** together or get the **** out of town
Because he still thinks it's DII and he can outrun everyone and not put in the work to be successful

No one is expecting him to be an All Pro, but when the best QB on the planet can make you into another Jordy Nelson and you respond by being a lazy **** then you get what you deserve

The one guy who made the trek from the Vikings to Green  Bay.  Got a Super Bowl ring for the trouble too.

According to Football Zebras, the Packers have drawn Brad Allen's crew.  That group is tied for the fewest penalty flags/game for all crews.  Potentially means they will be letting WR/CB's play.  May tilt field more towards Rams with regard to Cobb, but perhaps an advantage for Montgomery and Jones.

Green Bay - The following is a summary of Packers coach Mike McCarthy's Friday press conference:

  • (On Bulaga) Doing well. Did everything we planned for. We'll have a medical meeting at 11:30. So far so good.
  • (On challenge to play) With veteran players, it's just communication. Bryan knows what he has to do to get ready. That's why you take the full week and make sure he's ready.
  • (On Burnett) He's getting better. I'll know more today.
  • (On calf injury) It's a little different. This is the second time. I know that's part of the evaluation.
  • (On Adams similiar situation) Yes. Second time he's done it.
  • (On where team is) We backed off Wednesday. That was the right thing to do. Being inside [as happened Thursday due to rain] is not ideal. It's a different practice. it was a good practice. We're going to need the entire week to be ready.

And that's it for McCarthy.

Just out of curiosity, how do you know he's not putting in the work?  How do you know he is lazy?  How do you know that JJ will be the next JN?

We assume poor production for an athletically talented player = stupid and lazy.  Unbelievable the hatred for a second year player from a division II school drafted in the 7th round.  I mean the guy was almost undrafted for a reason, because it'll take him awhile before he's ready to contribute.  If he was ready to be Jordy Nelson right now, he'd be drafted in the second round just like......wait for it.......Jordy Nelson.  Just because he's big and fast and white, does not make them the same player.

5. Julius Peppers vs. Rob Havenstein – Peppers lines up all across the defensive front for the Packers, but when he’s at left outside linebacker, he’ll be across from the rookie second-round pick at right tackle from Wisconsin who was in elementary school when Peppers came into the league. It’s a match-up the Packers veteran must win.

Two 6' 7" dudes going at it.

Let's hope that Age and Treachery beats out youth and skill

Thats gold.

Russell's season in one meme.

Image result for the north never forgets

Corey Linsley and T.J. Lang vs. Aaron Donald – "The young Donald might be the most disruptive interior defensive lineman in the game today, and he leads a loaded Rams front with 3½ sacks this season. He lines up at left defensive tackle most often, which puts the onus on right guard Lang and center Linsley to keep him at bay."

They will have their hands full on Sunday, a 5th rounder and a 4th rounder vs an elite first rounder. Run it right down his gullet boys....
