Wait, wait wait.

You're trying to tell me that decent OL, decent WRs, a stud RB, an elite QB, and a great defense is a recipe that leads to "being right up there"?

What is this ****ery you're trying to sell here man?  Take that snake oil, and GTFO.

Everybody knows championships are all about the punter.

Ol Shermie had dreams of stealing a Ray Guy in the 3rd...so close.

I am really looking forward to watching the battle in the trenches.

Aaron Donald is a tremendous player but he's not seen the likes of Sitton-Linsley-Lang. MM had best scheme to help buckcherry against Robert Quinn.

Pack D-line could have a great game versus Rams OL. Rob Havenstein against Julius, Jayrone, and (on current form) Nick Perry? Child, please.

from McGinn:

"The Rams' adjusted salary cap of $144.67 million includes $46.756 million for the eight D-linemen. That's almost one-third of their payroll being spent on one position group"

From OvertheCap:

The Packers spent $ 9.136 million on their DL

Green Bay - The following is a summary of Packers coach Mike McCarthy's pre-practice press conference Wednesday:

  • (On Rams defense) Very good defense. Starts with their front. Their ability to create pressure upfront sets the tone.
  • (On normal week) Definitely, to be on a seven-day week and be on the normal time is something I talked to team about. It's important for our preparation to reflect the seven-day schedule.
  • (On Rodgers lack of turnovers) He's doing the best job he's done. Something we'll build off. Something we stress. Everybody has different ways emphasizing it and drilling it. Our guys have done a good job with it.
  • (On Rodgers without Nelson) He hasn't changed how he plays. You don't replace Jordy Nelson. We don't need to change how we're playing. They just need to play their role and take advantage of the opportunities you get. Aaron has done a great job not pressing or forcing things.
  • (On run defense) It starts up front. Our line has done a nice job of gap integrity. We're doing a great job with that.
  • (On Bulaga) He'll be in the early group at practice and we'll see what he can do. We will just be in helmets (and shorts) today.
  • (On Barclay) It's all fundamentals. There are some things we can do to help him. But there's still room for the OL to grow.
  • (On TEs) We have two. It's important to get more out of KB. Richard is doing a great job. Always used a FB and TE as interchangeable. It's the way our personnel is distributed.
  • (On Adams) We'll give him the full week. We'll see where we are tomorrow.
  • (On Rams pass rush) It will be clear what their plan is. That's all part of the game, part of the chess match. You have tendencies how they'll rush each player. That's all part of the preparation.
  • (On Montgomery) We did too much with him early. We thought he was going to be one of our best punt blockers. His ability to fit into the scheme is very high. But you have injuries, it's important to focus on wide receiver and maybe back off on special teams.
  • (On Foles) Good quarterback. He can make the throws. He takes care of the football. Very rhythmic player, can tell he's in tune with the system.

And that's it for McCarthy.

I have it on good authority that the Pack spends nearly another million at the nearby Kwik Trip...just to keep Raji and company in roller dogs.

Sounds like a Jeff Fisher team.

They will.

Last week was a short week & the Packers traveled to the West Coast vs. a very motivated team that had just been embarrassed.

This week? The situation is dramatically different.

Help out the tackles using chips & double teams from the TE/RB.

Rams have no shot in Lambeau if they help the Tackles & don't turn the ball over.

A few weeks ago Rodgers commented about the interior push that the Rams get so I expect the middle 3 on the OL will be up to the task.

The short week and heat was tough on the team last week, and probably hardest on the OL. Full week and being home will help a lot.

Good god.  That TV map explains exactly why I have Sunday Ticket

I'd get stuck watching the freaking Tennessee Titans Buffalo Bills game because Mariota.

University of Oregon fans are so incestuous.

@TomSilverstein: #Packers RT Bryan Bulaga said things went well in practice today, but pads tomorrow will be a bigger test and he'll be evaluated after that.

@Michael_Cohen13: Wide receivers Randall Cobb (shoulder) and James Jones (hamstring) were limited participants in practice today.

@Michael_Cohen13: Clay Matthews (quad) is listed on the injury report as well, but he was a full participant today.

@Michael_Cohen13: Bryan Bulaga (knee) and Demetri Goodson (hamstring) were also limited participants.

Tom Silverstein with more from Bulaga, here:

When you have OTs that struggle vs outside speed, then its really really important that Rodgers can step up into the pocket. Aaron vs Aaron on Sunday will be quite the match-up

When MM faced the Williams Wall years ago, he ran wide early and often to tire those big guys out. Rams DTs aren't fatties though, so I'm not sure that's the winning strategery. Our interior OL will be ready....

@BrianCarriveau

The injury to James Jones very well could have played into the decision to promote Jared Abbrederis as well.

@BrianCarriveau

It would appear the injury to Jones pre-dates today's practice. Aaron Rodgers said after 49ers game "I don't think he was 100% out there"

Not sure if Bulaga will play this week, but almost think he'd pass block better than Barclay on one leg.

@zachkruse2

James Jones: 17 catches, 317 yards, 4 TDs, 0 drops

Greg Jennings: 7 catches, 54 yards, 0 TDs, 3 drops

I hate that at times I get a bit conflicted making fun of Jennings.

I should be able to make fun of that POS without any hesitation whatsoever.  He is a prick.  His sister is a prick.  He bailed because he thought he was so good, and he had to rip the place on the way out.  There should be no reason I don't have anything but sweet sweet schadenfreude for him.

And then I see highlights of the Super Bowl and I for a moment feel wistful of his being here.  He was so good in the playoffs.  He was so much fun on that highlight video.

But, you know what?  **** him and little sister too.

Hey.

You could live in Flori-duh.

When Greg was in GB and he was about football he was effing good. Such a smooth route runner. Never looked like he was hurrying. Almost like he was gliding. The way he would flip his hands up and pick the ball out of the air. 2009-2011 he was arguably one of the best WRs in football.

Part of me thinks he'd love a 2012 do-over. Kept his hole shut. Taken his $8 million and stuck around.

But I think he would have gone full doosh eventually. He needed to go somewhere else to learn his lesson. Devante and Ty have plenty of material to aid in their future decision making.

And now every January when Greg is sitting at home and he sees his sister is calling he just lets it go directly to voicemail.

Yup.

He idolized Bert and let Bert "brainwash" him into thinking the Packers were brainwashing him. Gerg's comments on the topic were damning; even quoting Bert on his way to minny. He chose the rong idol and now he's paying for it.  Meanwhile Bert had his turd polished and was brought back to GB as a favorite son and returning hero.

And to add insult to his insult, Packers went after James Jones who triumphantly returned to GB and is scoring TDs at a prodigious rate -  while basking in the glow of Packer Nation love.

Ya think that doesn't rustle his jimmies ?

Thanksgiving with the Jennings siblings must be the best.

"So Greg, who you playing this week?"

"Does it matter? We're 1-10!!!"

"Yeah, but you're finally gettin' targeted"

"It ain't targeted when the ball is 10 yards over you're head. You'd learn that on Twitter if you didn't get banned you filthy whore"

.....

"Who wants pie???"

Scuttlebutt among those "in the know" is that Gerg wasn't fond of Cobb and in particular him putting up big numbers in his absence with the groin/sports hernia injury he had.

We'll never know for sure, but it's entirely possible TT and MM looked at the tape of the then rookie and discovered Cobb could rival Jennings numbers for a lot cheaper not to mention also way younger. Cobb also was a returner and could be used out of the backfield.

Back in August of that year, TT/MM had no way of knowing that and Gerg could have cashed in at 8-9 mil a year. Thanks Obama.

Best part of the PFT story is Jeff being asked how Aaron's mobility differs from Russell Wilson.

"Well, he’s different from Russell from a standpoint that he’s just a little bit taller, He can see. So, if you keep him in the pocket, he’s going to hurt you in the pocket. At times, Russell will lose track of what’s going on down the field and take off. [Rodgers] will beat you with his legs and his arm. But you just have to change things up as best you can and challenge their receivers.”

Thats gold.

As expected. Todd Gurley is getting plenty of love this week. For good reason. He's good.

I remember the 2012 SEC Championship game in Atlanta. Gurley ran for 122 yards on 23 carries. He was a beast. He was also the second best RB on the field that night.

The best back was Eddie Lacy. Eddie went for 183 on 20 carries and ran over Baccari Rambo and Alec Ogletree. Repeatedly. Alec is glad he doesn't have to relive that nightmare this Sunday.

And dont think Eddie is missing any of the Gurley fan tour this week.
