It's theNFL, even the guys who are not pro bowl players are good, so you obviously need to put in extra time watching film.

I'm curious if anyone else ran the "run into the defender" route tree at him, if he could handle it.

If you only look at Randall's quotes in that article (adding the context for the answer):

He told reporters technique was part of the problem; he said his coverage was mostly perfect against Detroit. He explained that failure, however large, was simply part of the game.

“That’s part of being great, and that’s part of me wanting to be great,” Randall said. “I just see a guy that’s going to bounce back because I just know myself and just kind of looking forward to the challenge this Sunday.”

the league for favoring wide receivers

“I think that’s what the NFL wants to happen because with all the rules and stuff that they have that we can’t touch guys and I know a lot of guys don’t like getting flagged. Obviously, they let most receivers get a last little tug at the end and the receiver catches the ball and the fans start hollering, ‘Yay! Touchdown!’ But I just think it’s great for the NFL. I just think it’s great for those guys that are catching passes and that’s why corners get paid as much money as they do whenever there are great, great corners.”

asked about his stumble on a deep touchdown pass to Jones last week

“We just both happened to get tangled up, and if it was the other way around and the receiver fell and I end up catching the ball, they probably would have threw a flag. So just for the most part I mean that’s just a play you can’t really correct nothing in the film because I was in perfect coverage. I was right there. I was in perfect coverage most of the night, even the one that he caught the one deep ball on me. I was there, and he just made the play. Sometimes guys are going to do that because that’s this league. For the most part, I feel like I played pretty well against the Lions.”

Randall noticed his own mistakes over the talents of wide receivers he covered

“I know we’ve been struggling, me in particular, and the great thing about that is I’m not struggling because of the receivers. I’m struggling because of myself. Just knowing that, I know I’m going to bounce back. That’s really the best part about the bye week is to know that it’s me. If it was the other way around, then I would be in trouble. If I was doing everything perfectly great and I was still getting passes caught on me, that’s when I would be worried and probably think my name might be coming down (from the locker).”

When asked how he can improve, Randall pointed toward poor habits during preparation

“Maybe I’ve just got to focus more. Maybe I’ve just got to put in more work in the film room. Even when we’re facing guys that aren’t Pro Bowl-caliber receivers, just maybe if I take each and every guy more and more like they’re talented receivers, just like every receiver up in the league is talented. One week I have a great week against a Pro Bowl receiver and then the next week I didn’t have a great game against the Vikings or a very great game against the Lions. That just goes to show that every receiver at any given time can catch a pass on you and any receiver can make plays. We’re in a passing league, and that’s why corners get paid a lot of money.”

Honest responses is what I read, not really excuses like the writer states.

What I have not liked is something that LeRoy Butler pointed out after the Detroit game, Randall at times is standing straight up before the snap, not in an athletic stance. He used Gunter as a guy who had good presnap body position.

I think the best defense vs OBJ is hitting him in the mid section as the ball arrives.  That will get under OBJ's skin and lead to penalties favoring GB.  He may not catch that many passes that way.  If the refs get their fill of him he could get ejected.  Offense is not for the emotion filled player - generally speaking - at least not emotional like in the OBJ way.

Apparently, the NFL is coddling OBJ. The league has instructed the NYG-GBP crew to watch for defenders attempting to agitate Beckam.

If you can't run with the big dogs, stay on the front porch.

Per WTMJ, Randall out "several weeks" after having groin surgery.

EDIT:

A report says that the already injury-decimated cornerback position for the Packers just got a little worse.

ESPN's Rob Demovsky reports that Packers second-year cornerback Damarious Randall will miss several weeks after surgery to take care of a groin injury.

Randall missed Thursday's win over the Chicago Bears due to the injury.

He was hurt on October 9 against the Giants and played part of the October 16 game against Dallas.

Green Bay has Quentin Rollins (with a not-as-severe groin injury), LaDarious Gunter, Demetri Goodson and Josh Hawkins on their roster at cornerback.

Micah Hyde also has experience at the position, but he is typically more often used as a safety.

It's really incredible how think the Packers are at CB but that's what happens when your two starters go down and your #3 guy has been dinged.

It might be time to make a deal.  Hyde is no CB and Goodson has looked awful.

Julio Jones is coming up so I would imagine that Hawkins will be coming out of the doghouse.

Hawkins is also the only CB with speed. Gunther is not a CB suited to cover speedy WR's. He's much better suited with large, slower WR's or TE's.

I remember when Randall got on Twitter this past off season and asked if there was anyplace in GB to get a good dinner.

And many wondered how a guy in GB would ask a question like that after being in GB for two years.

And Randall responded that he didnt really go outside because it's too cold in GB.

Im thinking Randall should maybe get off Twitter for a while. Not saying it's not a dirty  hit. But there's a time to just shhhhh and not get caught up in a Twitter kerfuffle.

I think Randall's response was in part due to this guy being a WIDE RECEIVER putting a dirty hit on a player "to stand out on film". WTF? You're a WR and that's how you want to stand out is by popping a guy illegally ?

And then there was the Go Fund Me tweet which Treggs then deleted.

I recall MM being none to happy after that game in his PC with the refs. It wasn't just Randall on the receiving end of a cheap shot. McCaffrey got blindslided along with Randall and at least one other player.

Guess you all forgot the hit on Malachi "Crunch" Dupree.

That was the other hit MM was none too pleased with.

"Trigga" performed a Crack back. That's illegal & has been for many years now.
