Canβt wait till we get 3 dependables
@MichiganPacker posted:Amari played special teams but was a disaster.
No argument here, but his coach certainly did him no favors either. I really think with Amari, his confidence went into the toilet early in the season and he never got it back.
His college film just looks vastly different. Hopefully he can just erase his rookie year from his mind and just start fresh.

Worth the look just for the comments.
Wild rumor of an Adams trade to LV this week.
I can believe the Raiders would pay what he asks.
Hoping they do so we can get the two first rounders.
A few things about 17 after rewatching the NFL Replay of the 2014 NFCD game vs. DAL.
He didn't get going until the 2nd half but he, as a rookie, was the best WR on that field in that game that had Jordy, Cobb and Dez Bryant when Dez Bryant was still good. Breaking ankles on routes, juking guys after the catch, running phsyical, picking up first downs, getting it in the EZ. I saw several other plays where he was wide open for big gains but AR went elsewhere. Anyone who honestly thought he wasn't worth being patient with the year he had bum ankle either had short term memory or simply didn't watch that game or his game vs. NE. He flashed all the skills that made him what he is today.
Not saying that should have anything to do with his current contract situation but it was quite a blast from the past to see his work as a rookie. It was silly how good he was in that second half.
An Adams deal seems almost impossible. Christian Kirk, a receiver I canβt ever remember hearing about, just got the following deal:
$20 million signing bonus
$37 million fully guaranteed
$39 million over first two years
$12 million in incentives
Base value: $72M.
Max value: $84M.

It's really just a 2 year contract for 39 million . It's still a lot of money, but not quite as bad as reported.
Adams needs to tell Rodgers to hand over some cash
Mugging your QB is a great way to get the ball thrown to you.
Great. This will push us into cap hell until my currently non-existent grandchildren grow up!

@packerboi posted:According to @TomPelissero, the Packers offered Davante a deal that would "easily" make him the highest-paid WR in history. There are still some specifics that need to be figured out, but this is a big step in the right direction.
His deal will be tied to Rodgers time on the team. I can see a 3 year $100m deal being plausible. Add a void year to kick it down the road.
The Hopkins contract is fucking up this whole impression of who is the highest paid. Adams wants 30 mil a year. Packers are not giving him that. 23 mil a year for a nearly 30 year old WR is more then enough.
The Packers can tag and trade him then.
The Pelissero reporting strongly suggests that the Packers offered significantly more than $23 million per. AR deal still appears to me to be a two-year window and I expect the team to get something done with Devante to mirror that.
they gave Rodgers Silly money, 5 million per average over the highest paid Qb. Give Davante a 3 year deal of silly money so everyone can be happy and get on with next year.
Except Adams may not be worth his asking price.
If heβs as smart as his mom he will be just fine.
$25M a year is max number I think is reasonable for 17...and that's probably on the high side of things because I've known him since he was 18. If he's demanding more than that, let him seek a trade. Everyone is entitled to get their loot bag...but it's usually not going to be where they want it.
he would get 27+ if he was a full free agent. Hell, jacksonville would probably give him 40million.
@Fedya posted:Tell your son to get cracking!
But he's not a free agent, so $25m is probably the fair number. It's a valid criticism of the tag, that it prevents the best players from getting their market value. But it's how the NFL works for the best players.
If Adams doesn't want $25m per year, I would not blame Gute if he held firm or traded him.
EDIT: Just checked - tag is $20m. $25m a year is more than generous when a tag in 2022, 2023, and 2024 nets him a total of $73m (at 120% of the previous salary). Unless my math is wrong, Packers could tag him three straight years at $24.3m per year. Why pay more than $25m per year?
Continually tagging is an easy way to get players to not want to play in GB. Players want at least some semblance of control over their destiny. Holding them hostage isn't the best way to do that.
Continually tagging? Adams is the 1st player tagged by the Packers since Ryan Pickett in 2010. They use the tag less than any other team. From 2011 to 2021 the Packers were the only NFL team not to tag a player.
I'd like someone like the Raiders to sign him to an offer sheet so the Packers can get two first round picks. Having two first rounders and an extra 20 million or so in cap room annually the next two years is more valuable than a soon-to-be 30 year old WR.
The idea is not to tag Adams for three years, it's to negotiate by telling Adams "this is what you get under tag for three years" and going from there. Happened with Dak and Cousins when they were tagged.
By the way, 99.5% of the NFL does not care about the tag. It's why it's still in the CBA. 10 players were tagged last season. 8 were tagged this season. There are 1,696 players on NFL rosters at any point during the season. So yeah, 99.5% of NFL players don't care.
I was reminded last night that 17's agent is Frank Bauer.
Doesn't bode well for this negotiation...he's the kind of guy that would encourage a hold out. I am sure he's behind this 30M a year nonsense.
Letβs go Frankie Bauer. Hold out and force that QB to re-learn the joys of spreading it around.
JJ and DA are tight...tighter than JJ and AR

Correction for JJ...Davante was the third highest paid WR in 2021, not the 17th, 18th or 19th.
GB would never admit this, but another way to bring down Adam's asking price is to simply wait out most of FA when other teams already spend their wads and there is just no big money to be spent on FA's that is left OR wait even longer and teams needing WR's have now invested in that position via the draft.
Teams have done this in the past, tagging a player and waiting for other teams to blow all their money and then go back to that player and re-engage with them knowing other teams are essentially "done" in FA.
Maybe not the most ethical, but as they say "business is business".
Schefter saying D. Adams is being traded to the Raiders for "2 prime 2022 draft picks". WOW!
Well, he did just buy a house there AND he was big buddies with Derek Carr in college.
@Goalline posted:Man, it seems like yesterday when he was on X4 as a 12 year old or so. They don't stay little for long.
Ain't that the truth? The kid is going to a DIII college next year and will play soccer and study either International Business or Sports Business. As someone said, "The days are slow, but the years fly by."
Congratulations!
