Would be hilarious to see him traded to GB and he morphs into a Davante or Jordy 2.0. Much of the angst about him is similar to Adams sophomore slump his 2nd year.

163 passing attempts this year, 61 to Adams. 37%. Gotta think that's #1 in the league.

But it's working. He's catching about 70% of them. Only thing that really stands out is 2 TD's in 5 games but that will likely improve as we get more healthy on the OL and improve the red zone efficiency.

Michael Rodney has been on a rampage about NOT paying Adams big bucks, dealing with facts about age and wide receivers.... Just saying. Adams as is right now is making himself too expensive for the Packers.

They stole him from Green Bay in the draft anyway. Him and Justin Jefferson both.

Rodgers would love Aiyuk

If (when) DA gets a new blockbuster contract, I'll be happy for him. He's worked very hard and deserves it.
Of course, I'd hope it would be with the Pack. But I won't hold my breath.

I think edge rusher could be a big factor in the new Adams offer/deal. This appears to be a very good draft for 3-4 OLB types (and crap for d-linemen again). If they feel they can rebuild the position around Gary, the Z/Preston money is there to play with. Of course that’s caponomics vs real money.

If Adams gave them a flat out no, however it was worded, that's not going to move the negotiations forward.

Would be good to hear, even a rumor, what Adams is looking for.

Adams' camp said last summer that his goal was to be the highest paid WR in the NFL.

DeAndre Hopkins got 2 years and 54 million last year (he had some other things worked into the contract to reduce immediate cap hits, but the real contract was for 27 per year).

If he would have hit free agency,  there were rumors he was going to get 30 million a year and that's what he appears to be asking for.

You can't win without a decent QB. Superstar WRs are nice, but 30 million?

A guess is that he ends up with something that will appear on paper to be something like 6 years and 150 million with 75 million guaranteed, but will have an out after the 3rd year that really makes it 3 years and 80 million.

No reason for him to want to sign a 4yr $80m contract, which is $20m per year, when the franchise tag is worth that (or more) and is fully guaranteed.  He'd be better off just having them continually tagging him.

He's basically said he wants in the neighborhood of $30m per year.  Question is really for how many years.

Friend of a friend that's supposedly buds with Hendrickson said they offered Adams 4 years at $80 million and he more or less told them to fuck off. No idea how it was structured though.

4 years 20 is not a great offer. Not when Deandre Hopkins signed a 2 year 55 mil contract.

However, the Packers view Hopkins' average as closer to $20 million per year given that his most recent deal was an extension to his previous contract (five years, $81 million). The added money was $54.5 million over two more years.

Last summer, Packers general manager Brian Gutekunst explained his viewpoint like this: "It's how you interpret what the highest receiver in the National Football League is getting paid, you know what I mean?"

Not terribly surprising. And as I have said before , I do not believe he's worth north of 25 mil a year.

Brandt sticking to his belief of only a one-year window.

I think a sign and trade is a distinct possibility for Adams, but yes, what AR's true contract is means everything. If in reality it's a 1 year deal, then I do not see GB interested in Adams long term and this would be a "bring it back" one time deal.

Adams is almost 30. The Packers just do not hand out 3rd contracts to their WRs

The fact that GB didn’t trade 12 is damn near criminal.

Although free agency is stupid-money season, no one is going to offer Adams something where they'd have to give up first-round picks.  Not when he is nearing 30 and the last several drafts are seeing high quality WRs deep in the draft.  Gutekunst screwed himself by not drafting WRs earlier in the last few years.  Am. Rodgers may (hopefully) pan out eventually, but he's not a WR1.   This is Not How to Build a Roster 101.

If the opt-out is still in the deal, the Packers messed up... so I expect Rodgers plays at least 3 more seasons.

Adams' is likely to play at an elite level for the next 1-2 years and then decline as he moves into his mid 30s.

Someone will pay him what he wants (maybe even the Packers) and then regret the contract about 3 years in. Driver was done as an elite guy at age 34, and he's an outlier (not quite like Jerry Rice, but he aged well better than most). Greg Jennings was done at 28/29. Jordy was a shell of himself at 32. Javon Walker was done at 29. Cobb peaked and then declined after age 25/26. The Cowboys just gave Amari Cooper away at age 27.

More often than not, it's a mistake to give a WR a big third contract.

A lot of WRs struggle in their first 1-2 years, but Amari Rodgers was worse than most. The fact he showed no elusiveness even on punt returns is a red flag. A lot of Packer WRs that eventually were very good contributed on special teams as young players (Freeman, Nelson, Cobb). Amari played special teams but was a disaster.

So it's not about the money for Rodgers (he already made it) but it is for Adams. I'm not sure what team that matters would pay him what he would actually want to play for--though I suppose the biggest kick in the nuts would be TB paying him, and then Brady/Adams winning a Super Bowl. Big money receivers are rarely a thing in today's NFL. Give me 3 dependable guys plus Dillion/Jones over 1 main guy all season every season.
