His short yardage ability puts Kuhn on notice too. Kuhn's been living off that the last few seasons.quote:Originally posted by Salmon Dave:

I'm excited. Yeah, he has his injury concerns, but you can't question the talent when he is on the field. First legit back we've had in some time. And I realize that our O-line is questionable, but he won't face any loaded boxes with AR-12 behind center. At the same time, he may give AR some better looks. AR is going to feel more confident checking to a run when he has #27 behind him.
Kuhn ain't going anywhere.

We dropped six spots and picked up an extra pick. How did we get hosed?
Agree with you speak. If you have seven guys you like equally and the 49ers are the only team offering you take what you can get and still get something you like.
A real 3 down back! Cautiously optimistic about this pick. How many times has TT gambled on a guy whose stock fell due to injury issues? But if Lacy stays healthy he could be a beast.
Think John Kuhn might be on the way out now. I like Kuhn a lot but he's limited in a lot of ways. Lacy is the short yardage guy now and is a decent receiver also.
Maybe TT will pick up a snot-knocking thumper at FB who also can pass block and hammer on STs... will address another deficiency (FB run blocking) that has been masked by our OL's run blocking problems.

I'll make a case for it. He's scheduled to make 2.25 million this year (final year of his contract) and they just handed out two big chunks of salary cap. He costs nothing to cut, turned thirty, and isn't all that great of a blocker. There's a good deal of value in releasing him and not all that much to justify paying him that much for one season.quote:Originally posted by GBFanForLife:

I'm thinking we need a good OL at this point with so little depth there. A Barrett Jones type might fit well in Rd. 3 as he can play 3-4 positions on the line.

Correct me if I'm wrong, but aren't his "injury issues" an ankle and turf toe? It's not like it's an ACL or concussion problems, or is it?
I'm going to let the rest of the draft happen before I know what I think of Lacy at 61. Love having a workhorse like Lacy. GB needed a physical back. I refuse to believe TT takes Lacy unless the team Dr's signed off on him given injuries over the last three years. Added a pick.
This is all on Lacy. If he's good it's an absolute steal. Gotta' stay healthy.

I wouldn't be too sad if they ended up cutting Kuhn. His short yardage ability is limited to goal line situations, if it's 3 and 1 at the 49 yard line, he's shown he has about a 3% chance of picking it up.quote:Originally posted by titmfatied:I'll make a case for it. Is Lacy that good of a blocker? I know he is big and all that but can he block any better than Kuhn? We might need Kuhn to lead the way for Lacy.
Will feel better about this pick if we get some OL to protect the franchise. Just felt like OL and S were much bigger needs. Hope the kid tears it up!'
Like the quote. Focus on your own performance.quote:Green Bay could have had either running back. Lacy was the choice. When asked why Green Bay would take him over Ball -- after the trade down -- Lacy said "he doesn't like to compare himself to other players" but that "the coaches saw something in me."continue
Coon has turned into a folk hero of sorts in GB but he's just a guy. He's easily replaceable. Good dude though.
Seem to recall reading somewhere that GB was linked to some big FB. Maybe Patty mentioned it.
Kuhn isn't worth 2.25 million. I guess I'd be happy to see him back if that were cut in half.
If you subscribe to the whole "chip / shoulder" theory. Lacy has one.
Zach Boren will make up for any potential loss of Kuhn. He can pave the way for Lacey Green and Harris. Still need to beef up the OL DL and S positions but so far so good.

he can slip out and make a team pay for blitzing, imo, that's a lot more valuable. The other RB's have been here for a while now. They should be able to handle it. Alex Green should be able to focus on it as his new role. Also if you really need a block guy Brandon Jackson (still just 27) is a free agent and will probably sign for the minimum and we know he knows how to do it and well.quote:Originally posted by The Grinder:

Chipped shoulder too?
Lattimore will be a better pro. Mark it down.

Brak ewe cocksucker. Hahaha
Don't have one, but how often do you think he converted in those situations? He had a good run with it in 2010, but it almost never works now. There's a reason why the Packers are one of the worst third and short teams in the league, that quick handoff to Kuhn is right at the top of the list.quote:Originally posted by Jody:quote:Originally posted by Pack-Man:I wouldn't be too sad if they ended up cutting Kuhn. Love this pick. Love it. Love it. Love it. No more calling the Pack "one dimensional." Of course staying healthy is a concern for everybody. Look at our first two picks from last year. We could have a running game like The Giants had a few years back in their prime SB runs.
Dude was unbelievable in the title game.
Did I mention I love this pick?

I was just spotting a TT trend. Lacy missed 2013 NFL Pro Day and BAMA Pro Day with hammy issue, but no major injuries or missed season (unlike our 1st round pick).
I was a game penis fan in Lattimore...but these days I am a Cagney and Lacy fan first.

I thought Frederick would be there at 55 and Lattimore would be a Packer in the 4th round.
Trust in TT.
lattimore is done. we need OL and S.
i haven't been this hard in years. my ******* hurts from all the **** i keep shoving up it.

Gutekunst: Lacy has good hands, they used him in dumpoffs. Pass blocker, at 230 pounds, can stop people coming at him.
Interesting that both Bell and Ball got selecTED before Lacy. Not sure what I think about this. He looked great against Notre Dame, but I am worried a little about the injury history.
Got to have faith in TT and I do like the fact they drafted a RB but time will tell

I think it's been so long since we've had a legitimate RB that half this forum doesn't know what one looks like.

Lacy: Nick Saban's program, the way we worked at practices, it gets everybody ready for NFL. It's like we're already there.
